  • Easy to grow in mild climates.
Macadamias are delicious , oily, Highly nutritious nut.
May not be the WORLDS most expensive nut, but often $20 lb they aren’t cheap either.
Growing your own tree is the best way to go for most folks in California USDA z9b.

I bought mine from Lowes 4 years ago. So far it has never bloomed.
The branches break easily and is the best tinder. It is nitro.

These guys can take some cold too.
The first year inground is most important.
112f in summer and 28f in winter is hard on many fruits

I grow macadamas here in Southern Australia - 2 in ground and a dwarf type in a pot. Please note to use low phosphorus fertiliser - A little nitrogen & potassium is ok but lots of mulch. Your H10 leaves will become smaller as it gwts bigger. Looms like a Tetraphylla type 'Hetraphylla is the other with rounded non spiky leaves

      Thanks for the info.
So many gardeners here in California plant macs and then feed em 10-10-10 fertilizer and they rarely get nuts.
I had similar experiences with my first tree until I dumped 3 lbs of a fertilizer call sul po mag.
Now I just tell folks be careful with phos!

@@TropicalGardenGuy the reason why is Australian soils are very old and lack Phos so they grow well with very little - we can buy Native plant Fert such as Scotts 33% N 0.49% P & 6.3%K plus 11.4% Sulpher and usual trace elements

You might want to plant that in the backyard. Nuts will go missing

If you grow in a pot how often should you change soil or can you continue to enrich same soil with worm castings and fertilizer?
