    Looks great, but there’s a reason why BMW chose the orange color. In the dark this color is the least tiring color in the spectrum for the eyes. Therefore saver. ;)
    If you think of it: in astrophotography they use red light (close to orange) because they want their eyes to stay used to the dark. Red has the least impact on the eyes should they need light for whatever reason.
    During the old school negative film developing (in a dark room), they use red light as well, to prevent the negative te be destroyed
    👍

      You aren't looking at your speedometer long enough for drastic effects, plus its dimmed. Also BMW of the same era has white lights too (M cars ex.E92/E90, E60). White/blue light helps people stay awake/alert at night which is a plus. 'White' light suppresses the body's production of melatonin. Exposure to the light of white LED bulbs, it turns out, suppresses melatonin 5 times more than exposure to the light of High Pressure Sodium bulbs that give off an orange-yellow light.‘ Additionally "Research has found that exposure to blue light suppresses the production of the sleep hormone melatonin more than any other type of light."

    I have my third BMW now and I always found that this orange looks a bit old school. In my e34 that was perfect, but for my e91 LCI it does not really match, because the rest of the car looks very modern, especially with the styling I did.
    You explained and showed the process very well!

  • @hyde_official

    I have this scheduled as my next mod. You could have added the red stitches marker with a permanent red marker on the gauge to match it with M2/M3. Otherwise, this is a good mod for sure. I don't like the orange either but that BMW signature.

      @Anguella97  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Samuel Real hey, they are supplies needed to solder. The solder that holds the old LEDs on needs to be heated up with a soldering gun in order to remove the old LEDs. Then you need to resolver the new LEDs on with more solder. The supplies you see at 11:49 is the solder wire which is specific wire that is made for soldering circuit board components. Any generic soldering wire will not due. The other white container is flux which is a paste used to aid in soldering.

    As the top comment says, red/orange and other warm colors like amber are used because they're easy on the eyes. That's why blue light filters on phones and TV's make the screen look orangish or yellowish. They'll strain your eyes the least compared to brighter and more blue (light spectrum) lights. That being said, I hate the orange and want the lights to match my theme which is the same blue as the BMW logo lmao. So you already know I'm swapping out all the lights in favor of a baby blue theme

      If you are referring to the needle not moving. There is a possibility that you pushed the needle on too far and it’s binding cause it’s too tight. Try taking it back off and putting back on a little looser

    • @Anguella97
      @Anguella97  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jays Autoworks hmm. If you don’t feel any resistance at all when turning it no matter how many times then something may have happened internally. I would suggest trying to open up the cluster mire to see if you can get to the gears and see if something knocked out of place or broke. Then see if it can be glued or replaced.
