"I hope I haven't caused you to borrow money recklessly."
Don't worry, I've been doing that for yeeeeeeears now.

I have 400 hours in this game. Ive played it everyday. Usually only 30 minutes at a time, but I still make some of these mistakes.

One tip would be to not be afraid to sell units when their time is up.
Say one of your starter units is Arclights. They helped you clear chaff early game and is doing you well. Then they get countered and you need more Chaff Clear, so you buy some Vulcans. So now what are the Arclights doing? Nothing, really. Maybe they'll take some hits here, do some damage there, but overall they're just hurting you by providing the enemy units with EXP and giving them more power. So instead of that, you sell the Arclights, get that money back, and start investing that money into something else.
Another one is figuring out how much respect you should be giving. If you do something like buy a flying units or Sentry Missile something, what is the enemy response to it, and can you punish their response and/or force a response from them. Mechabellum is like a Fighting Games, both players input their moves and action and the others reacts to it. And if know how to respond to a certain move or don't *respect* it, then you can keep using it until either you win or they learn, then you can move on to your other gameplans. Why bother playing 5D Chess and thinking 10 steps ahead when you could just drop 2 War Factories in their face? And if they do respond quickly, then you can start playing the Chess game as inteded.
Last one would be to just figure out what Techs actually gives to the units and how it shapes their rolls, and to set Techs acordingly to complement other units. Take War Factories. Are you just getting one just for their Raw Stats alone, or are you deploying multiple of them? If so, get Efficent Maintenance. If you're getting one high teched, well promoted War Factory, then E Mainteneance is a trap, as it just delays and raises the cost of the other techs, and the money you "saved" from E Mainteneance just goes to paying the extra 200 supplies for the next Tech. Or Marksmen, are you getting them to carry the game for you, or are they more support? If they're Carry, you'll want to get like Elite Marksmen on them, but as a support, you'll want to have more specialize/niche techs like Air Spec or Assalut Mode to cover your bases better, cover whatever weaknesses you "main" unit is.
I'll leave it at that. I'll have you note that I don't consider myself to be a super good player, just someone that understand and applying my basic understanding of Game Mechanics. I'm good at comeing up with theories, not so much executing them. Still, I hope this helps someone out there. Oh, and watch out for the Sledge Mafia. Keep your kneecaps protected, and build Melting Points.

Please do not encourage players to take AA tech on Arclights or Tarantulas. Those techs are rubbish and should never be taken, especially since they're ONLY effective against Wasps (they're not even good if your opponent is spamming hordes of Phoenixes, because Phoenixes eat Arclights and Tarantulas). If you're having air problems, get an actual AA unit like Mustangs, or an AA tech which is actually OPTIMISED for killing air, like the Fortress' AA Missiles tech, rather than just "it can shoot air as well as ground now". Those techs seriously need a buff.
Some other mistakes worth pointing out: caring too much about winning the first round (I've faced opponents who've actually borrowed money on round 1 just to make sure they win the round with a tier 2 unit unlock, only to promptly lose round 2 to me because they're now 300 behind and take far more damage), buying deployables too early (never buy a round 1 sentry missile either), and leaving a unit in place when it's clearly being hard countered and is only serving to feed EXP to the enemy (like leaving a pack of Crawlers on the enemy flank even after the enemy has dropped a squad of Fire Badgers right in front of them that clears them in less than 3 seconds so they're not even buying time).

Your opponents in Round 2 are only $100 behind in total value due to the borrowing. However, $300 less is paid in round 2. I find your statement a little confusing.

How about fang+fort aggro with “never buy techs before r5” rule among mechabellum community? Rules are there to be broken

You should always take air on either arclights or tarantulas exactly because of wasps. Phoenixes and Boats you can easily deal with AA Marksman, but there are situations were you need to deal with wasps and having this tech allows you to cheaply deal with them without having to switch units.

Your point is VERY valid right now but I like to show a good range of options and allow the player to still make the choices if that makes sense. As you say, they could do with a buff and could receive one sooner or later.
You're right it's only really good against Wasps in general play, which is what I soft-recommended it for, but if someone did wanna play goofy with "Carry Tarantula" with anti-air as an option then it's similarly valid. Carry Arclight is less goofy but point still stands.
But still very true (even if it was buffed), it's easy to make mistakes overspending on Techs, even just a single one you didn't really need.

Recently played against a guy who only made single units. Tarantula, marksman, sabre, stuff like that. I even asked him why no chaff and bro says "useless, they deal no damage"
I mean, yeah, but they prevent damage done to him. Obviously didn't tell him that, never interrupt the enemy when he's making a mistake and all that. I hope he sees this video.

In terms of borrowing, you're only $100 behind if the game continues, if it ends that round you're $200 ahead. This means if you think the game could likely end this round, go for it! You can afford to guess wrong 2 times before you're net negative on the gamble.

    • @stoyandimitrov7699

You are not 200$ ahead. The game is over lmao

@@stoyandimitrov7699 exactly. If the game ends before you need to pay back $300, then it's just a button that gives you $200.

Maybe you can actually add a point about upgrading tower's HP, it can very cruisal in some scenarios

Borrowing money can be a huge noob trap, ive even seen players borrow round 1 to buy overlord and such (aerial spec).
This is not good, winning an early round is meaningless while losing 100 supplies and missing deployments will definitely hurt your board.
In the later rounds dont keep borrowing if the enemy is not and you are not winning, if you are down 100 supplies every round while not winning this wont change with another borrow...
But you should definitely borrow if you consider this to be the last round, especially if you are winning.
