Lots of comments about the CGI (which was definitely incredibly impressive for its time and still looks good today), but I also want to talk about the acting/commitment to believability as a "real" documentary. I was always fully convinced by his reactions as a kid that he was genuinely interacting with these creatures. Plus the conversations/interactions with the boat crew and camera men really help sell this series.

God this was my childhood. and GOD, it's still fantastic. It still holds up. It's just so delightful to me that the seemingly very serious and realistic Walking With Dinosaurs franchise decided to go this route. I mean, it's just fantastic, they executed it SO well. The acting, the writing, the CGI (especially for the time) and animatronics, the awesome score, the editing, it's all fan-fucking-tastic. It's *fun,* but it's also incredibly educational and informative. It's just... such a fun premise, done extremely well. Bravo WWD. Omg, I found it! So when I was a kid, my mom left me at home, so I grabbed this documentary, that we had on cd, and by the end I was so scared, that when I pressed some button on the remote that turned off the video on the tv, but audio was still going, I thought these creatures were going to come out of the screen, completely forgot that we had a back door that could be open from the inside, tried the front door that was closed, and decided to SMASH THE WINDOW WITH MY FOOT, and somehow crawl through it, with the shards sticking out and on the floor, completely unharmed, must’ve been a big adrenalin rush. So I ran to look for my mom and I thought she would be upset about the tv and the window, but she was just glad that I was fine. What a wild childhood memory with this one😅

I wish we had more series like this and "Walking with" in this day and age. Would be amazing to see them with new discoveries and hypothesis. As long as it would have the same level of quality and realism. Now a days most shows like this rely completely on CGI. From the rocks, grass and water to the animals themselves. That makes the world seem uncanny and fake. Where as these series were filmed in real time, in the real world and they supplemented with CGI.

Fun Fact 1: Based on fairly recent discoveries, if the list was made today, the title of most dangerous sea of all time would be shared between the Miocene and Cretaceous oceans.
Fun Fact 2: Several of the creatures depicted in this series go unnamed. Here are the names of these creatures, divided by segment.
    Ordovician:
    Sea Scorpion/Megalograptus
    Armour-Plated Fish/Astraspis
    Trilobite/Isotelus
    Giant Orthocone/Cameroceras
    Triassic:
    Nothosaur/Nothosaurus
    Pterosaur/Peteinosaurus
(A small theropod dinosaur appears, but is not identified by official sources.)
    Devonian:
    Placoderm/Bothriolepis
    Ironing-Board Shark/Stethacanthus
    Pliocene:
(The Megalodon is seen attacking a whale at one point, but we don't see enough to identify the particular species in question)
    Cretaceous:
    Shark/Squalicorax
    Mosasaur/Halinosaurus
    Giant Mosasaur/Tylosaurus
(While the dinosaur shown roaring at one point is officially identified as a Tyrannosaurus, based on the time period, it would more likely be Daspletosaurus.

Also, number 2 should be Miocene, and number 3 Jurassic. Because in the Miocene you have TONS of predators, and intelligent ones(mammals). Predatory whales like Zygophyceter, Brygmophyceter, and Livyatan being the deadliest predator of all time. Also giant crocodiles like Ramphosuchus and Purrusaurus. As well as Megalodon. So basically Pliocene but 5 times deadlier

Here's a bit of science update for everyone:
    1.
Nigel went to see the SMALL Sea Scorpions. There are ones bigger than him during this time.
    2.
Not only were those Nothosaurs about half the size of the bigger ones, but so is that Cymbospondylus he ran into!
    3.
Dunkleosteus was a bit shorter than that, but the jaws were no less impressive.
    4.
The Megalodon was somehow even larger than what was depicted here and was longer than just a scaled-up, stocky great white.
    5.
Those Leedsichthys were not the biggest fish that ever lived, that title probably belongs to Megalodon, so they were even less safe from the giant Pliosaurs roaming about, and even at that time there were still big ichthyosaurs around, so even more deadly predators than in this episode.
    6.
Those Mosasaurs fossils show may have been less social than shown here (which makes sense, given that they're basically just monitor lizards that adapted to live in the ocean and modern Komodo Dragons really get mean with each other), since they've been found in interspecies combat having chomped down on each others' skulls. And also they were FAST, with proper tail flukes unlike the paddles shown here, meaning if they spot you, you're dead if they think you're lunch.
