I yeah btw I just realized this afterwards, but there's a part in the trailer (about 2:27) where the watcher is quite clearly transparent on the background, this matched with the first trailer we saw tells me that the watcher can most definitely go invisible as his gimmick. Sorry I missed this I made the video in 2 hours.
The watcher is transparent and the room is full of blue baby void worms, the watcher might actually be in a parallel dimension or something like that. That might be what they can do since you can't actually touch echos.
I do think that with watcher you''ll be able to travel through time, hence why you see similar areas in opposite weather conditions
Methinks, it's not invisibilty, but rather an attempt at time travel into some... time direction? And Watcher turning transparent might just be a visual que of a failed attempt, purely for feedback purposes.
Tho, who knows, maybe this is Watcher hopping into some parallel dimension, effectively turning invisible gameplay-vise, and travelling in time will be done by using this ability near some fixed "hotspots", or near other Echos.
You know what would be funny? If Scavs just up and always fall asleep in Nightcat's presence.
Not invisible, between dimensions
I love watching a person watching a trailer about a watcher

time to watch a person watching a trailer about the watcher
@@O-carto and they started watching all over the place
BTW, if you speed up the audio of the guy talking to 250%, it’s ITERATOR SPEECH.
WAIT WHAT HUHHH?
Whatdoes it say
I would have to assume iterator speech is just the ancient language, so it’s not necessarily an iterator speaking! But yeah, I hear the similarities even on 2x speed
he says the same thing but it's a translation! of the dialogue
that is, all the noises of the interactors are speeches translated into our language
and who speaks and possibly five pebbles
@@mmpMultiversalMagicPolice we don't know
The blue Chimney Canopy region is Coral Caves.
The desert region is a version of Badlands.
The rainy region is Stormy Coast.
The snowy region is Aether Ridge.
All of the regions mentioned are mods integrated into the DLC. The rest of the regions you saw are more than likely completely new.
There's the Mast too (that region with synthwave background)
I'm a bit out of the loop, so I apologize if this comment is working off of old information, but were the white particles changed to be snow in Aether Ridge? Or did you list it as the snowy region because the video lists it as such?
@@shadedway5277 I called the substance snow because that's what it looks like. For all I know, it may not be actual snow.
@@argon2532 The original Aether Ridge lore did not have the white particles as snow, but seeing as there are cold breath puffs it seems like this may have been changed? I'm trying to figure out if the community knows more than I do, thank you for the response!
I believe mast was confirmed by the creator to not be in the DLC
To be honest when I first listened and re-read the intro monolouge to the trailer, I thought they were trying to say that the campaign takes place so unbelievably into the future from the timeline (where Saints campaign ended) that realities and timelines started merging together causing all the weird regions where one place can be hot as hell and one place be essentially an ice age due to the amount of cycles that had passed.
i really like this theory
i think the beginning was echo/ ancient dialog
oh my god and i thought this game couldnt become more horrifying
I had the same thought
Dark souls III ahh logic
I personally think that the rain monologue was about how the cycles of the ancients started interacting more and more as the population increased. And as more and more cycles started interacting, the harder it was to understand. Maybe this could be more insight into why so many iterators were built.
Same! Then the flood would be like there’s too many, too much chaos then they all go “hey! Why don’t we all just die because we’re bored and it’s chaotic here?”
Also, as we can see "THE WATCHER" title card shows rot and other shows of wear appearing at the end of the word, further supporting that The Watcher hit the Twin Towers. On 9/11, a terrorist attack would cause the destruction of the two iterator cans, killing hundreds and shaking Rainland to its core.
This comment has me theorizing if vultures were used as planes by the anchients and the king vultures were just military planes
Mr pebbles, there's been a second miros vulture.
I get you’re joking, but I noticed the emphasis on rot pustules in TRAILER 1 BABY
The Rainy region showed first is stormy coast specifically room SK_A11 and the Blue chimney canopy room is coral caves. The rest are completely new. (The desert is only vaugely based on Badlands)
this
And the snowy region is confirmed to aether ridge, but reworked like the badlands
Ah yes forgor to include that
Good theory on The Watcher. I have some things I personally noticed in the trailer. The floating “organs” are indeed just that. If you listen to the background music when the scene plays, you can hear a subtle beating heart. But that’s all I got for now.
i thought that's something like void fluid extraction system, but yes it does sounds like heartbeats
Ancients did use Purposed organisms so it makes sense
I think it could be maybe a new type of rot? new iterator cancer? sliver of straw cancer?
They look like the maintenance things from early in Scorn

Maybe the real silksong was actually the watcher dlc.
No ple don't remind me😭😭😭😭😭😭
maybe the real silksong was the friends we made along the way
@@neuron_robber I’ve made that same stupid joke so many times.
Is this a real dlc? I thought this was just a mod but please tell me it’s official
@@SpremeCalami The mod you’re thinking of is drought which is the wanderer not the watcher. The watcher is an official dlc.
i honestly love the idea that unlike saint, who is bound to the endless cycle and never able to escape it, the watcher is free from it, able to wonder in and out of it as it pleases
I think the voice is an iterator. Or a living ancient. Who knows until we see for ourselves.
I hear somewhere between the Grumblebum voices and an iterator.
Maybe even a recording of an ancient.
i honestly think it's some sort of iterator-related voice, when you speed it up it has the same vocal effects as one. i think this mainly because certain bits of audio repeating (this is something that happens with all iterator dialogue both dlc and base game), it wouldn't make much sense for the ancients to have robotic voice qualities unless they turn out to modify themselves as much as the creatures they repurpose
i deadass screamed “OH MY GOD” when i saw the notification 😭
theory:
watcher - the cause
cycle - the problem
saint - the solution
OH WAIT THATS REALLY SMART
My main issue is, Iterators were made after the problem started. And Iterators made slugcats. So unless we have some time paradox shenanigans, idk
@@tequilasunset4651 well according to overwhelming evidence, the watcher is a time travel shenanagist
i dont think its EVER implied that slugcats as a species were made by iterators, and in basegame, we don't have too much to show that Hunter was even 'made' by NSH, just being slightly modified in ways.
And the cycle, that's evidently existed for WAY longer than the ancients, as in a specific pearl, it's told that there have been multiple civilizations before, and many more civilizations after that will rise, feel trapped within the cycle, and eventually go to the void.
I doubt Watcher has existed for that much time if it's a slugcat.
@@JUESTION Youre right. I thought that iterators made all "purposed" organisms, but the ancients did that.
the "crab creature" look like it's a drill with legs.
Won’t be too surprised if maybe that is the creatures lore. A drill that can easily walk around.
Likewise, i wonder if the moving organic background parts are actually from the past, in a time when the facilities were still active and "alive". (-imagine we get to see an inhabitant haha-)
The wind chime video actually had a secret in the top left that said September 19th hinting at today
And the other one had an Easter egg hidden in the sound saying "consdier"
I think the cycles are realities and the watcher alternates between them, so much so that the pink region is similar to the sky islands, and the snow and desert regions seem to be opposite realities.
Ok, hear me out, total crackpot idea here. The tundra and the desert are the same area but at different points in time. The Watcher can visit both because they can cycletravel.
Edit: you brought up that point too, punishment for not watching the full vid before commenting lmao
That makes sense because of the remarks about how a ripple will change when viewed from different angles- it’s both a desert and a tundra depending how you watch
The Saint became an echo, but maybe the watcher was an echo all along- I guess we’ll find out immediately when we see the karma gauge on the Scug (I assume it would be the nothing karma like end-game echo Saint showed)
Or what if watcher is an echo trying to redeem their self through living through a lower being?? also we need more context on the blue void spawn, is the void sea gonna be blue if it even exists in whatever mess that watcher is in? So many questionssss a
I don't like the assertion of "redeeming", it places weight on ascension that simply isn't there in the game. Failing to leave the cycle isn't a "sin," albeit the ancients saw it as a reprehensible outcome. The undergrowth echo in Saint's campaign also suggest that they've come to a new realization: that the cycle is not suffering, but rather meaning itself. Saint seems to know something none of the others know, about the nature of ascension, that we too have yet to fully grasp.
In that sense, I think one possibility is that The Watcher IS Saint. He's become some unique variant of echo: a fully detached being that refused ascension while at the pearly gates, with some further mission within the cycle. We see Saint reform at the start of a new cycle at the end of his campaign, so it's not a very *likely* possibility-- but I think it is the most interesting one. The Watcher may show us something new entirely, about what ascension entails and the nature of the cycle.
Another consideration... echoes "bind" themselves to the places that keep them, in turn, bound to reality. Much like ghosts, they are unable to move on and forced to settle into a limited existance. If the Watcher can move, but is an echo, what keeps him here? It's not some place, but perhaps some task? If completed, what becomes of the echo?
If The Watcher is Saint I’m gonna eat my own hat and move to Switzerland
What if its not timetravel but cycle travel: being able to see all the possabilitys off all possiable outcomes of all cycles.
Watching this will cause a silksong player to go mad. Permawaiting.
One thing i just noticed about the trailer is that, when atop the array, there are no cans in the background. Where the heck is that? How can you get that far away, aren't iterators everywhere?
It might be in the far far future of the timeline, after Saint as in the description in steam it has something along those lines
@@lnternetF0xI wonder though.. if it's so far ahead that no iterator superstructure stands, how does this one?
Is it the last superstructure? Now that certainly would be something to see
Or super early in history, before the great iterator project; maybe Ancients are still around!? The purple sky might be a natural unpolluted world -- or well, perhaps fully polluted during the peak of Ancient industry, considering iterators drinking only water would be pretty clean for the upper atmosphere during the RW/DP timeline. Purpose of the structure would then just be any old comm tower, like we have today; and indeed there are towers you can climb that rise above the clouds, on a day with low enough clouds or fog that is. Such towers would easily be refitted for bulk iterator communication going into the global ascension era.
*excited scavenger noises*
I have a similar theory that was put forward by the author. As for me, the storyline of the new cat will take place throughout the entire timeline of the planet. from the beginning even before the events of the master of the spear, across all other existing companies and after when the ice age came. that is, his line is the largest, because it is a whole dls with just one cat. everything is clear here
The best part is it came on my birthday :)
real the dlc is going to come out on my birthday
@@person5090 nice!
It came like four days away from my birthday so like twinsies!!
I think the watcher a universe jumper. Because not only are the regions rapidly different climate wise but ghosts are usually Yellow rather than blue and there isn't a pink atmosphere. I think the watcher is gonna pull some rick and morty shenanigans. Maybe we'll see different versions of moon and pebbles. Possible running into saint but fully echoified.
The moving background elements make me so happy because the Iterators, their creators, and their technology are all part biological and I always thought there wasn't enough body horror or eerie pulsing within (or outside of) their superstructures!
like, in Rivulet's campaign you're tellin' me I swam through 5 Pebble's entire tumor-ridden body & circulatory system and not even a single vein was animated pumping water??? I PERFORMED HEART SURGERY
@@duskadown6751 lol
From the first time we heard about the Watcher I theorised that it would be like some observer of the world through time, exploring every period that we've seen the world in. It's cool to see that this trailer might be pointing towards that.
Daszombes: Starts playing modded slugcat campaigns
Videocult: Oh shit! We can't let him revive his channel like this! *drops trailer*
I'm crying, the royalty free stock videos of rain 😭😭
Watcher Fans when they meet the Blinder
ah a release date something that silksong will never get
Watcher Watching how we Watch it
I'm Watchering and Waitering for iterator logs.
I actually feel like the most telling line is the "movement on the circumference of a ring." I feel like it implies an ability to move across the cycles.
The area with the 'gloating organs' is very reminiscent of a lit up memory crypts to me. it has stacked boxes like cages and malformed organ-like organisms seeping out of them.
I really like how the mounds actually curve smoothly and not just a blocky staircase with an overlay to hide the blockiness.
So we have to wait 6 months... I'll try to not descent (or ascend) into insanity any further.
i think they modified the existing water code to make the sand dunes/snowdrifts, they seem to be water but super super slow and with actual collision (and possibly a randomization each cycle)
My thoughts on the raindrops monologue that guy goes on:
It sounds almost like the cycle have been going on so so long that they’re collapsing(?) into disrepair and the world around us is all messed up because the cycles are all combining into one thing/are getting destroyed and everything is being put into a smaller and smaller amount of cycles.
I mean, everything gets destroyed eventually. The sun blows up, the moon would stop orbiting right after enough time, matter breaks down, after an indescribable amount of time the cycles should be able to too, right?
Can't wait. Also surprised you haven't gone over the 5 pebbles Pearls. Since he also reads them and gives different dialog showing you the contrast between his and moon's personality.
crackpot theory, we know of 1 slugcat who can become an echo. Welcome back Artificer!
I always interpreted it that the voice reading out the text was that of an ancient. The monologue sounds a lot like the ancient’s old philosophy texts :3
I’m going to cry if that Hermes crab thing can run after you and try to kill night cat. I’m praying he’s a friendly that will only attack if you do
THE WATCHER IS ECHO SAINT!! MARK MY WORDS!!!
you are so real for this
It could also be hunter or artificer's echo
In the room with the purple voidspawn (THEY ARENT BLUE I SWEAR IM NOT COLORBLIND MAN THATS PURPLE) watcher isn’t black. Watcher appears to be invisible, actually! There’s much darker colours in the palette of that room, so it being the same color as the grey behind it only makes sense if that’s functionally the ‘ black ‘ of the region - or if the watcher can camouflage. My moneys on freaky chameleon slugcat, though, because that’s interesting and I love me some stealth mechanics in video games :]
You're unfortunately colorblind, Watcher is hot pink for the rest of us
Would make sense! A watcher watches from the shadows after all, so why not camouflage?
@@shadedway5277 can’t believe I have hot pink-grey colourblindness bloody hell
“But now the campaign will have too much content!”
“Lol” said videocult “lmao”
Crackpot theory here: the watcher is either hunter or saint due to them being unable to aecend properly and becoming an echo
holy shit that was fast okay daszombers
You know Hylics and Rain World are actually a lot more similar than one would think.
Like, Cycles are a big theme in both games. There’s also the moon characters in both as well.
02:45 there is a drill on its back!🛠
Probably a purposed organism
You are going to be ok. Some people (me included) are still waiting for silksong.
Saint’s gonna have a new friend to do drugs with
The narration at the start also reminds me of a echos ranting, going on about things that in most cases a small creature like slugcats wouldnt understand
makes sense for the timeline too, saint became an echo so now we play as that
The blue chimney canopy area is the coral caves region mod(available in the workshop) and the rainy one is Stormy Coast (hunter/survivor/monk time) also on the Workshop
i think the spider crab thing is actually a reference
when you turn on dev commentary tools
you can see the devs talking about something
in shaded
they talk about wanting to add a giant spider that you cant see the full body
and it would be a rare encounter in areas with death pits its long legs trying to pull you down
it looks rlly cool tho
my theory ive had since the start is that the watcher is related to echoes somehow but rather than a time loop, the watcher can effect loops, i.e the desert and snow isnt different regions but instead the watcher has a direct effect on the world, allowing actions of the watcher to transfer between cycles.
take the snow and desert, it could be possible for these two environments to coexist, just not at the same time.
if the watcher altered the timeline or effected every following cycle, a desert could turn to ice or vice versa depending on actions.
it'd be sick asf to have a slugcat where your actions in prior cycles influence every following cycle, or even have a time skip where every time the watcher is ending a cycle it skips tens or hundreds of cycles ahead. if the watcher slightly altered an iterator's weather, 100 or 1000 cycles later what was previously a desert could be a glacier
oh also, on the echo thing. the watcher's invisibility could be linked to just phasing out from existance like an echo.
echoes exist across time, yet we only encounter them at certain times. if the watcher is an echo, it could probably just turn invisible by not existing.
I had a sort of mini-idea for a time-travel slug cat, it onlt really went as far as the idea of a slug cat disconnected from time who appears during each of the other slug cats timelines and does something to assist them complete their goal.
I think it would honestly be funny if the watcher turned out to be a time traveling slug cat, though that could also fit it's name The Watcher.
I love watching your channel and I can't wait to see your new theorys about this scug that watches
Let’s go, The Watcher isn’t a silksong
My guess for the voice at the beginning is that it was either an echo or an iterator speaking. The manner of speaking + what is being talked about definitely leans more towards it being an echo but the 'voice' sounds like a very low pitched version of the sounds moon and pebbles make before you get the mark of communication. Hope we get to meet whoever it is in the campaign!
May this shot in the arm finally get us new episodes of Iterator Logs, now when Daz has something to live for again.
That hermit crab is sporting a fancy void-fluid drill.
Gosh I'm so glad someone else finally said the moving parts are reminiscent of Hylics
Idk if some people noticed this but in the trailer the watcher’s ability was shown, it’s able to turn invisible at 2:29
Idk why but i like to think the big ball things are spore balls
Me and my friends concluded that the Watcher would take place over the *entire* timeline, either by time travel or simply hibernating for long periods of time, hence "The Watcher"
plot twist : watcher being an echo is a red hearing
My brother brought up an interesting point about the voice I showed him the speed upped the video and he instantly recognized the sounding like an iterator's voice and made a theory that the weird voice is the possibly new iterator
The monologue in start is definitely something an iterator would be saying, i think we will be seeing new iterators or the iterators we have yet to see (nsh, srs, grey wind and sliver of straw even though we kinda saw that one)
I think it’d be really cool if regions could change depending on the cycle. If the watched is so connected (or disconnected) to them, it’d be cool to have dead lands one cycle and then it shifts to the glacier the next
Does anyone else think the “blue chimney canopy room” looks like a dehydrated shoreline island?
Could (and probably is) an echo but I’m not sure because he just doesn’t look like one other than the colour. No tentacles or weird stuff going on around him🤷♂️
Imagine if it was like sonic cd, where you could choose to go to the past or the future. Rain world cd would be sick
MR RAIN WORLD MADE A RAIN WORLD VIDEO LETS GO!!!!
SO THE SEPTEMBER NINTEENTH FROM THE WINDCHIME THING IS TO THE TEAILER!!!1!!1!1!
The blue chimney canopey rooms are from a modded region called coral caves :D
OMFG not only am I violently convulsing with excitement, but it also comes out ON MY BIRTHDAY the only way to top this is if Silksong is announced... 🤣🤣 that'll never happen
Watches
Nightcat slug hype going up and skyrocketing! Seriously, Watcher seems it's going to be a really fun campaign. I wonder in which direction from Pebbles grounds we're going, or at least where within it it takes place. I have no clue by just watching the trailer.
I love the big ass dropwig thing
I believe the watcher and saint is the same slugcat, as Saint is not bound by echo cycles. perhaps challenge 70 is cannon but not built by S.O.S. but the cyclical nature of the cycles themselves.
I thought time travel too after seeing a room in the coral region that looks almost exactly like the top of the wall
I'm hoping that Watcher is an echo, but one that has escaped the cycle altogether somehow. We see saint ON A JOURNEY to escape.. But the final point in the journey shows us back at the start, unable to see the world anew without the shackles of cycles and constant environmental trauma.
Maybe the watcher will live in the new world, an echo like Nineteen Spades Endless Reflections who is so proud of watching the world change from their little perch.
uhhhh uuuuuhh UHHHH OHHHHHH OOAOAOAOAOAOA
Hyping up my dogs a few minutes ago because they are the only ones in my family to share my utter excitement
No one noticed that on this pink screen there arent any iterators, even colapsed ones
The monologue in the beginning if sped up sounds exactly like an iterator just wanted to point this out there was a video on the subject.
LEEETS GOOOOOOOO, I NO LONGER HAVE TO STOP GAINING PTSD BY SILLY SCUGS!!!!!
2:05 It is moving because the first trailer for The Watcher shows a bit of rot in the background, and in the same font of its name, which means that the timeline occurs between Saint's campaign and the interior, in a place where The rot has almost corroded everything I knew it!! 100% real no fake
i think if the nightcat was somehow outside the cycle it would make for a good hardcore mode, one death and you have to start all over again, but i also find the echo theory plausible
Can't believe we're getting the watcher dlc before silksong
Hell yeah, my favorite Ripple user, Slugcar Joestar
hmmm i think the watcher is a slugcat
Being in a completely different time period from the other campaigns would also solve the problem of how the fuck this is going to integrate with Downpour, since being mods, they'll be able to be enabled separately. My guess is that they're intentionally avoiding using any downpour content in the Watcher campaign and will have completely different regions intentionally to avoid having to figure out how to integrate the base game, Downpour, and the Watcher DLC together.
two rainworld dlcs before silksong is crazy 😭
Wow that was fast
2:02 Hylics mentioned!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️
When I saw it had the release date I audibly said GUH!?
My theory.., iterator got too obsessed with the nature of cycles and is on a quest to "understand the universe"
HYLICS REFERENCE YOOOOO
