The Baby Sparrow Story

  • The bird house was built in the back yard of my house 2 years ago. This is the 3rd time that a pair of sparrows has nested in this box. This video chronicles the young ones journey from the nest to the open world.
The astonishing fact is that while both the male and the female sparrows together build the nest, hatch the eggs and feed the young ones, as soon as the young ones are out of the nest, it is only the mother which guards and feeds the chicks!

Rice is cooked well done! but there are much better grains for these omnivorous birds

Normally I feed millets to them. The baby sparrows are fed worms by their parents. The closest to worms is cooked rice

@@RajeshSingh1 we're giving mealworms... not ideal due to the chitin shell. Personally when raising insectivorous or omnivores I feed crickets with sharp legs removed. Yes millet is a favourite with sparrows :-) Thank you for the video!

I don't know much about sparrows in India but I have seen once(Europe, Estonia) how a male(he had a black "beard", now way it was a female) sparrow was defending a baby sparrow on the ground from other curious sparrows.
P.S. Then the father tried to make a baby sparrow follow him - father was about 20 cm ahead, making a few steps and then looking behind to check on the baby. But the baby was too young to concentrate and got on the road where cars may drive sometimes. So I followed the father to the nest but unfortunately it was in a place which I couldnt reach, so I picked a nice bushy area near the nest which provided some natural defence but yet was reachable for a father sparrow and put a baby there. Lol, I've spent 2 hours watching the baby sparrow at that day and missed a date with a girl.

Excuse me, my stranger friend! The explanation is alright but the video recording technique is not alright. On behalf of the sparrows, thank you for feeding and recording but please try not to shake your hands too much. Take care of them as much as you can. I love them a lot! I feel sad if I don't see or hear them talking, feel miss them if they are not at "home" even just some hours. I have sparrows neighbours and always wait for their coming back around 0545PM. They wake me up before 5AM every morning, too. I hear their voice but I cant hear my alarm by my bed! Thank you! 🤗🤗

Thank you for sharing such a wonderful video! You have a wonderful heart, and the sparrows are God's most favorite burds because God tells in a verse from the bible that he sees people through the eye of the sparrow. You are a good man, and always care of sparrows as well as I do my best feeding them as often as posible during the weeks when they have newborn babies. God bless you good man!
