    I’m glad I watched this video Alex. You’ve referenced your engineering background before so I really trust your judgement. I hear most vehicle reviewers compare the Teslas to BMWs, Audis and Mercedes. Those vehicles are considered luxury vehicles. I’ve been on one Model 3 test drive with a family member and I recently test drove a Model Y myself. Knowing what I know as a casual observer and taking into account my two in person experiences I don’t see why Teslas are in conversations with luxury vehicles. What do you think people see about the material quality, fit&finish luxury features and amenities and build quality of the Teslas that have them in these conversations with the German brands. I feel like I’ve seen more impressive looking interiors in Mazdas, Volvos and even Kia’s. Thanks as always for your very thorough and detail filled reviews. We look forward to every one of them.

    MB's take on things is always interesting to see. It is good that not everyone is just copying what others are doing. Not to my taste, but fun to watch how this is unfolding as the EV evolves.

    BTW as owners of the EQS have found out, there is one item under the hood that owners may occasionally need, the 12V battery connectors. If you drain the 12V battery, the car will not start. The booster battery connectors and the 12V battery are under the hood in the left rear. This is a problem that has cropped up when people take their cars to be tinted or had other instances where the car has been left with the doirs open or such for many hours. Compounding the issue is of course that once you drain it, its not going to magically instantly recharge, it takes many hours for the main battery to recharge it. So, it behooves owners to tell the shop, that they should use a minder if they are going to be leaving doors and so on open while the vehicle's main battery is "off". There is another way to avoid it. Leave the car "on" on neutral with the parking brake on "aka" camping mode.

    Darn you! You convinced me to buy an EQS 580, and now I want an EQE AMG. Darn you! Just kidding... range is too short for me (I live in a DC charging desert). I can "live with" "only" 3.7 to 60 and a softer ride.😢. I do like the profile of the EQE better though. I also love my and would greatly miss my hyperscreen.

    I think on your grades you need to sub fuel economy with range and charging speeds. As everything electrifies the grades should reflect

    Great review as always. Interesting that Genesis G80 has a smaller battery, regular sedan shape and yet has more range and more efficiency? With regular door handles?. If they can why Mercedes couldn't do the same?

    • @baldisaerodynamic9692
      @baldisaerodynamic9692 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      because german thinking. they managed to over complicate a simple EV.

    • @Wised1000
      @Wised1000 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When the G80 gets to 60 in less than 3 seconds you can ask again. Utterly different cars. BTW my 580 has similarl efficiency to the G80 and still gets to 60 in 3.7 which is also faster than a G80😂

    I am glad to know the EQE has the traditional Benz hefty feels, I was a little disappointed about EQS 450+ when I drove last year

    • @Wised1000
      @Wised1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      ?
      The ESQ 450 feels like a tank! All EQS do since the weigh as much as one! I loved Munro's review of the EQS. The old guy couldn't understand why every joint was double insulated, why every suspension part was twice braced and overbuilt to the nth degree. As an old big 3 engineer and now an engineering consultant, it made perfect sense. Simply couldn't grasp how to make a quality car, just a cheap one.

  • @smk4565
    @smk4565 ปีที่แล้ว

    I like that Mercedes has a dedicated EV platform, although they need to get about 10% more range out of batteries, maybe cut some weight and cost. From that standpoint on generation 2 they will probably nail it. The EQ vehicles are ugly though, the ICE sedans look far better, they should have made this look like a more traditional Mercedes.

    Funny that they didn't bother to paint the bottom of the hood since you're not supposed to open it.... until you remember this is an $80k car. WTF.

    As a current owner of two Benz cars (E And GLE), I find electric benz sedan design to be the worst yet in the market. All other manufacturers have done a better job so I don’t buy Mercedes excuse of improving efficiency. Heck kia and Hyundai are doing a great job.
    I am not a big Tesla fan but I would argue that in this price range one should better consider Model S.
