    I purchased this 8000 hour John Deere 4720 at Ted Everett's auction. One of the best tractors I have owned everything works as it should. I have touched up the paint and the tractor now looks new.

    Great follow up video! Do you see lots of implements sold separately to the tractors such as the couple at the end, or is it mostly attached to tractors? It'd be neat to see a range of implements at the next sale you go to - particularly some of the more specific, niche type implements - just to see the range of weird tasks people can put their tractors to!

    • @TractorTimewithTim

      Rarely attached to tractors at this auction. They almost always sell separately. There are not that many attachments in this auction. Maybe 15% of the items through this ring.

    Mind you I probably got a deal but I got a similar option 4320 for only $31,000 out the door with 470 hrs 20k is nuts for a tractor that could need major repairs at any moment.

    I got a 3046r with deluxe cab with 5000 hours (no loader) for a bit under $20k in 2021. I then purchased a new frame mounted front blower, frame mounted front blade and a back blade. Just use it for snow but the setup works great for me and all in around 32k. Tie rods have some jiggle and I had to replace some hydraulic couplings and a zerk but otherwise in wonderful shape. I think these 3 and 4 series JDs can go way longer than people think.

    It would be interesting to know what that tractor did. Generator or firewood processor? Sure didn’t look like a 8000 hr loader tractor. I’m on a small dairy farm, 5000 hrs the loader pins and control lever is usually worn out. The last couple have been kubota though.

    Tim i encourage you to monitor marketplace for used tractors. Some of these auction prices are far higher than ive seen on marketplace. I believe what ive been seeing lately is people who have purchased new machines are now trying to unload them to get some sort of return. The compact and subcompact market is pretty hot right now. James river equipment is a deere dealer they have been offering huge sales on new machines over the oast few months, in fact they are selling new models cheaper than used that are listed on their website. Crazy market right now.

    Around here even the b7100 and b6100 were fetching over 5k so I figured I’d spend another grand for a larger tractor. My local dealer had a L2550 more hours but also very nice for 9,000 with only a center mower. Another local had a b6100 with center mower for 6k. I had to go to Michigan to get my l2850

    Also, I’m pretty sure that I need to come up to one of those Ted Everett auctions when I’m in the place to get a tractor. The south doesn’t seem to have nearly the availability of decent used machines compared to the Midwest. That or I’m looking in the wrong places.

    I bought a 4720 at online auction 2 years ago for $16,000. 1300 hours, no loader, no cab. From the dozens of other 4720's I've looked at, I think on average the cab adds $5000 to the price and the loader is worth $5000. Interestingly mine has the factory loader control and the hydraulic outlets were replumbed to the back making two more remotes for a total of 3 remotes in the back. What sort of implement would take three sets of lines? Also can the 4720 run a round baler?

    • @robb1165
      @robb1165 ปีที่แล้ว

      3 lines in the back can be needed on many things. A snowblower with a built in back drag blade, a powered top link with many two line implements like a grader.

    8000 hrs and still went for $20,000 guess that shows how tractors hold their value. If that 4720 went for $20k I guess that Kubota 5740 going for $23k was steal with 2000 hrs if I remember right? I paid $20,000 for my Kubota l3940 cab with 900 hrs when it was 8 yrs old (pre 2020 skyrocket) . Granted it was a private sale and I knew the owner and he takes care of his equipment better than anybody I ever seen but still guess I did alright. That tractor did look good shape for 8000 hrs, must of been used for one thing only I dunno. I' am not sure what you answer means? Some of your guesstimates were some spot on, some were way under, and some way over . That doesn't tell me after the fact of knowing what it sold for if that particular tractor model itself is a good unit at that price point.
      I'm guessing that you're saying your low estimates that sold for more $$ were not a good buy and the ones that were estimated higher and sold for less were great buys. • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@L46C3sorry. I shoulda explained better. Tim and Christy’s estimates are just that…our thoughts. The ‘auction estimates’ come from a subscription tool that we have TractorZoomPro.com
      It will be very hard for someone new to the tractor world to get a good deal at an auction like this. Too many variables. Too easy to get a machine which doesn’t fit your needs, etc.
      I would recommend narrowing in on a specific brand/model. Then, begin researching prices on that particular model. Become familiar with it, limiting your detailed research to that model.
      So, start somewhat broad…not worried about price details…narrow in on the model you need, then begin to look at pricing.
      I also usually advise first time buyers to consider new. The dealer can help provide a lot of guidance.
      Also, you won’t get bogged down with maintenance and repair to start. As you learn and become more familiar, maybe your second or third tractor should be ‘used’. Make sense?

    If JD is so junk why are 90% of the stuff being sold at this auction Kubota? And not bringing a third of the money?

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We separated out 5 of the 1025r s in a separate video published a few days before this one.
      And yes, this particular auction had several Kubota’s. They vary.. I noticed that there were very few ‘off brands’ in this auction.
      As for price, the Kubota’s sold for less than the Deere’s, but maybe simply because they retail for less than the Deere.
      Hard to analyze.

    Yeah, but they are highway hours.

    If the auctioneer states “Sold!” How can he except more bids and sell a tractor that is owned by the winning bidder? Under those rules I guess you can win the bid and later decide not to buy….

    • @TractorTimewithTim
      @TractorTimewithTim  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He had two bidders who both were ‘in’. So, the continuation of bidding was limited to those two …to correct the error.
      Handling the error right then and there, between those two bidders is the cleanest way to resolve.
      Notice that the ring assistants flagged the issue immediately…even as he was saying ‘sold’.
      Not sure how it could have been resolved any more cleanly.

    That's not the original engine. Just because the tach has 8k hours, doesn't mean the engine has them.

      Coulda been overhauled…but likely not. No reason these engines won’t last that long.

    With where the country is right now, people don`t have the extra play money they had 4yrs ago. Maybe next time, people won`t vote with their feelings.
    I`m holding out for the crash in 2024, then i`ll buy a bank repo`d tractor for next to nothing. The crash is coming, watch and see folks!

    Can you not talk so much during the auction part- perhaps too much talking, we understand you want to say what you think its going to bring, but we can all see what the posted price you think is going to be. Every one loves to hear a good auction.

      Hold it…this machine has 8000 hours…looks and runs great. No other machine in this auction has much more than 25% as many hours…and you STILL try to complain about the brand? Now THAT is irrational bias!

    • @TractorTimewithTim

      @@bucket0rockslike many things these days, the information provided by the media on this topic is slanted.
      First, none of this right to repair stuff applies to compact tractors.
      Second, the issues aren’t nearly as draconian as the media asserts. Quite frankly, the ‘solutions’ brought on by the lawyers is likely to be much worse than the original problem.
      We needed some small changes in the big tractors, yes, but opening this engine and transmission software to anyone will likely create big issues.

      It's just like a lot of vehicles now a days, you need brakes or exhaust or something done any garage can do that but if you need engine work or the vehicles computer has a problem most likely your going to take it to the dealership of the brand it is. Plus if you buy a new vehicle or tractor it comes with a warranty and will be fixed by the dealer anyway. So if your willing to bring your $40,000+ vehicle to the dealership why wouldn't you bring your $100,000+ farm tractor to the dealer?
