No! They are do it right. You want to keep the ball away from the opponent while still facing them. If you turn as you suggest the same way you pull the ball you loose site of the rest of the game and it's slower.
There are two pullback (sole) turns. The one bxxm is referencing is a good turn if you've received a pass with your back to the target and have pressure from behind. This works from a standing position - you pull with your right and turn to your right to "turn" the defender. The turn shown in this video and referenced by didierPalmira is used to change directions when moving beforehand. In this case, you'll pull the ball with your right foot but turn to your left (if pressure is on your left) or pull the ball with your left foot and turn to your right (if pressure is on your right) to use your body as a shield from pressure during the turn.
