I loved this story! I loved the way the characters were willing to put aside their animosity in order to be a good example to others, but also to give each other the benefit of the doubt. I loved that even when they did jump to crazy conclusions about each other's behaviour (something that drives me nuts in romances), they would stop, think about it, and talk to each other before acting. I .loved the way they went to trusted family members for advice on major, life-changing decisions. And of course, that God needed to be in the midst of it all. Also, Ford and Morgan's story is my favourite book out of the Sweet Water Ranch series, so it was fun to have a peek into their future and see what life might be like for them once their kids are grown up. 😊 And Jay, amazing job as always. The way you read the part about her dog was so, so moving. 😢
i love the way that you and Jessie always brings the characters to life. and how they intertwine with each other. Another great book, thank you Lavonda
I really enjoyed this enemies to lovers romance. I liked the emphasis on making choices and then acting regardless of feelings. Maybe that’s a bit heavy handed for what actually went on, but it’s true. You can choose to react emotionally - dramatically - or you can actually think and use more information - from other people - than your own feelings. The biggest draw for me with Gussman’s books is their lessons on life and marriage - specifically their Biblically based lessons. Are there any other lessons that actually matter? I love how her books challenge my faith and actions. They edify my life and marriage. And now? After being with her for years, I’m so thrilled when I read parts that resonate with me wholeheartedly as something that I have in my marriage or life. I feel such confirmation and like God is smiling down on me and acknowledging that, maybe for this small sliver of life/marriage, I got it right. A small thing where people talk about your “first date” and such and I always had trouble because my husband and I basically lived life together and didn’t do much of the traditional “dinner and a movie” or other events. I remember sitting in the bleachers while he did his ice arena work. I joined him working extra hours for free at Walmart after my shift was over. And now, looking back, with an outside perspective, I see how beneficial it was that we got to know each other through real life rather than simply set apart “fun times.” Now, that’s just one small, personal example, but it was a heartwarming piece of confirmation God allowed me. I’m really enjoying this series (I know, I say it all the time) and I really am excited to see what is up with the other kids! Man. 12 kids. I can’t imagine that. Truly.
The development of the Beau and Claudia's relationship from enemies to friends was fun to read. Really enjoyed Beau's mindset pursuing her persistently and patiently and seeking his dad's advice. Lots of Godly wisdom interspersed in a sweet and tender romance with a large family life setting on a dude ranch / working cattle ranch, and a little music thrown in the mix - what more could one want when reading?
Absolutely loved this book that contains the humor and life lessons that Jessie Gussman is known for by her readers. The animosity between Beau and Claudia is strong. They have to be able to forgive each other and learn to trust each other in order to overcome their differences. Jessie is so good at bringing beauty out of friction in her books. Jay continues to bring Jessie's characters to life in a wonderful way. Thank you Jessie and Jay for another wonderful book.
Im still listening to this. Misunderstandings and being paitent and listening and apologies are important with all relationships. I had to stop listening as chapter 5 and 6 broke my heart as ive felt this heart ache many times. I felt this was covered beautifully and the family and friends were so lovely. I love the continued optimism and forward hope toward God's plan. Especially from Chapter 1 when I laughed my head off despite the many faucets at play. Awesome writer and narrator. Thank you. My dog and I love your novels. ❤
Loved the story. I was really glad that despite it being a second generation of book it wasn’t a duplicate. I loved the simple respect paid to the previous book and the amazing timeline that has been built. Can’t wait for the next in the series!
I totally agree, Matthew! I've been a fan of Jessie's amazing world-building skills since our first audiobook together - ironically enough, the first Sweet Water novel!
My review: Great story. Claudia and Beau have been antagonistic towards each other since their first meeting five years ago. When they finally actually talk to each other, they can acknowledge their attraction to each other, even if only to themselves. This is a sweet, clean Christian romance. The story moves quickly and I love the inspirational discussions about marriage. I received a complimentary copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.
Whoa, the part with the kiss and the sentiment and it being like kissing somebody elses partner really caught in my brain and heart. I wish I had heard that back in my teen years. Then again, I wish I would have had the capacity to hear that and understand it back in my teens. It is a great sentiment.xx
Another Great Book! Claudia Clyborne and her large family of siblings are running a dude ranch and she has started a music ensemble, but her dealings with neighbor, Beau Hansen have been strained. He is interested in her and is looking for a way to turn things around, but she is wary of him. When he sincerely apologizes she starts to soften, and does so even more when her dog dies and he sends her flowers. This is a tender book that addresses trust issues, and working together to solve personal issues. I highly recommend reading it.
I loved this enemies to lovers romance for Beau and Claudia. The characters are people I would enjoy being around. I like the way they are considerate around each other and willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. The beginning of the story was hilarious when eight piglets escaped the trailer that Claudia was transporting them in and ended up in downtown Sweetwater, ND. Nina, the daughter of a friend of Claudia's who was staying with her for the summer, was having fun catching the wiggling bundles. When Beau happened to show up, he did more harm then good in trying to help. When Bo showed up for the ensemble practice that Claudia was starting up, their relationship started to change for the better. The incident with the canoe sinking in the lake on a cold morning seemed to be the clincher in their relationship. I loved the way God was working in Claudia's life. She always loved horses but they weren't cost effective enough to have on her family's ranch. It just seemed fitting that she became involved with a guy who would some day own his Dad's ranch that raised and trained horses. I highly recommend this book as a clean Christian romance and be sure to listen to the wonderful audiobook narrated by Jay Dyess. This is my voluntary and honest review.
I love bringing characters in from other series - and I love that Jay keeps their voices the same no matter where they show up. I have no idea how he does it, but I admire that ability!
I liked this one a lot. The little bit of mystery, the romance, and the little bit of singing. Great reading and great continued story.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it Erralee - it is a great book!

Haha! Amen to that - I know I was probably too knuckleheaded to have listened back then!

I like how this series mentions other characters from other series. Like Bo's parents and the orchestra. However can't remember which series

Yay!
Thank you, my friend!
Loved this 💕
What is the name of the song you sang? Great job!
Thank you, Jan! It's "The Old Account Was Settled Long Ago". Jessie picked a great one for that scene!
