    I got a SoT sometime over the summer, and was thinking of repotting it since it's becoming overgrown, hangy, and found this channel. Suffice to say, you've got a new follower, I like the short little videos that you do!

      Thanks for following along! Did you end up repotting it? After I repotted it got huge!!!

      @@EmsPlantPlaceEmmaLeeFreistadt so I don't have a bowl like yours but I'm thinking of doing it on a tray or something. I haven't repotted it yet, I wanted to see how easy (or difficult) it be but you made it simple. I don't have cactus mix so I'll look for maybe a soil / perlite / peat moss mixture to go with the original soil. I'm looking for a better pot (hopefully ceramic) that it goes to a forever home in. Also followed your IG!

    I need to repot my SOT I recently got from my local nursery. I’m stressing about how I’m going to do it without damaging it lol. They’re so delicate to touch!

    I have only ever used potting soil to replant and refresh, makes sense to have a blend for an overall balance.

      Lisa Sullivan I also have a habit of over watering my plants so this way I really can’t over water them!

    Hi!
    I found the best way is to put them in terracotta pots, so they will stay healthy! 👍 😀

      Glad that worked for you! I could not get that to work for me, i had it in there and the roots few into the it and I had to rip all the roots to get it out again.

      Suggestion only
      Add some sharp sand to cactus potting mix compost 3:1 mixture of potting soil and sharp sand also using liquid kelp or fish emulsion help plant grow stronger and healthier. 👍

    I just got my first string of turtles! It's so delicate. I don't want to overwater, can you tell me what it might mean if the leaves look wrinkled? Does that mean it's time for watering again?

      Rhea Garcia I wait until the soil is completely dried out. Make sure the container had drainage holes they do not like to be over watered!

      @@EmsPlantPlaceEmmaLeeFreistadt i haven't watered it since i received it in the mail because the soil was still pretty damn. But the leaves were wrinkled and I wasn't sure what that might mean

      Rhea Garcia it could be damage from shipping?

      Hi Rhea! How’s your string of turtles now? I also ordered online and I dont know what to do because it is in a 2” pot and so delicate. Should I repot it right away? need bright light?

    • @rheagarcia9229
      @rheagarcia9229 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bernadettelopez7225 i definitely wouldn't repot it if it came in the pot it's been growing in. Mine is struggling but still alive. It doesn't like as much light qs the string of hearts and in that small pot, i do water more oftern but only very little at a time

    I am dreading repotting my string of turtles. I fear it’s become root-bound but the plant is so dense I fear I’ll do a lot of damage if I mess with it... wish me luck 😬

    So you did not repot this turtle for several months? Just got one today and want to do this right!

    • @EmsPlantPlaceEmmaLeeFreistadt
      @EmsPlantPlaceEmmaLeeFreistadt  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Brittany Kerns when you bring a plant home make sure to keep it away from the other plants for a few days to insure there is no bugs. After I have done this, I will put it where it will love for a few weeks to let it get use to its environment. I would wait about a month to repot it 😊 also make sure it has proper drainage! Thank you for watching my video!
