  • The Kona is a new model for 2018 and offers top flight connectivity, funky fun styling, and a great price. The Kona is the first B-Segment crossover from Hyundai to land on the American shores. Is the Kona as fun and easy-going as the Hawaiian Island region? Prices range from $19,500 for the base SE trim up to $28,700 for the Ultimate model. Hyundai did not hold back with the color scheme of the car seen here which is covered in Lime Twist paint. The interior is as equally funky and fun as the exterior. The driver’s seat is a pleasant place to be.
The new Kona has some aggressive and interesting styling consisting of a sharply angled front end that features a stylish grille and LED lights. Along the sides, Hyundai has fitted the Kona with some off-road inspired fender covers which add fun to the overall look.
Under the hood there are 2 engine options. The first is a base 2.0 liter 4-cylinder that makes 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft. of torque. Step up to the higher level trims and you get a turbocharged 1.6 liter GDI 4-cylinder engine that makes 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft. of torque. The transmission is a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Fuel economy for this particular model is 26 MPG in the city and 29 MPG on the highway.
Competitors in the compact crossover segment include the: Nissan Kicks, Buick Encore, Subaru Crosstrek, Chevrolet Trax, Toyota C-HR, Mazda CX-3, and the Honda HR-V.

I'm with you on the bottom mount turn signals :( The Kia Sportage also has them and its just a bad place, as people are not looking down but eyes up!

What most people don’t understand is drag cars, track cars, even dune buggy’s the shifting is the same. Up is shifting to the higher gear down is shifting to a lower gear, it’s not a 911 or a European car but track cars non legal cars shifters are like that. Most people even reviewers haven’t driven actual track cars and that’s ok but a little research can go a long way as in pointing out it’s a negative that “drives you crazy”

HUD's have been around in one for or another for maybe pushing 30 years. Why do some use that flip up plastic visor? At this point, shouldn't it just work on the windshield and actually provide a "heads up" experience, versus a "look down a bit to the plastic flip up visor" experience? It seems they are tacked on, to say they have one.. not for anything that is actually useful, or aesthetically pleasing.

I agree, but then you would add another 2 to 3 k due to the windshield that has to have a special coating in order for the hud to work. HUD will not work on a standard windshield, or they would all have them.

TFL took one off rad and it overheated. Not built for off road use. Need a grocery getter then it's fine.

Aztec like plastic cladding isn't a good look. And the Renegade is the best selling small CUV since it came out. Same prices and odd colors too. And you can drive it on more than a flat lawn. Crosstrek is a small wagon.

The Kona is nearly just as capable as the renegade. It's a solid 2nd. Also Crosstrek is a hatcback. It's just a lifted impreza. Theres a different between hatcbacks, cuv, and wagons.

Kona nearly as capable as the Renegade? At what? Having a steering wheel and seats for people?

Budweiser sells a lot of crappy beer. The Jeep Renegade is more off road capable, but like most current Jeeps it is a piece of junk. In virtually all catagories, Jeeps are poorly rated. Most people don't want/need the off road capability. If they really need it, they can go to Subaru.

Jeep only sells well because of brand loyalty and it's cult following.
