Nice choice, very worthy. I always liked this vehicle and thought it could benefit from a better engine

Nice chronicle video. Someone here in Arizona had a Commander for sale into which they had set the 3.0 Mercedes CRD and transmission out of a Grand Cherokee 3.0 diesel. It was being sold as an incomplete project. Donor vehicle with wiring harness and transfer case were gone. It seemed beyond my ability to locate another wiring harness and ECU AND attempt to merge them into the Commander's harness. Your approach of effectively turning the Commander into a Grand Cherokee seems to be the right choice.

Great video, I am planning to do the opposite and replace my 3.7 with the hemi. I believe you can really give me some insight to my swap. Did you have to replace the BCM, TIPM or any other modules? Thanks

What kind of final gear ratio do you have on your XK? I know WK 3.0 CRD have 3.55 in Laredo and 3.73 in Liminted or North(towing package). I found 3.73 trasmission feels like have diabled sprag on OD( AKA tow mode all the time), while 3.55 trasmission feels like coasting all the time, and there is significant differnce in fuel economy too. Anyway, great project, i might want to do one next year!

All the time and money you spent doing that negated any fuel saving you will ever get. Wasted energies.
