I did that replacement with a cheap import carburetor. The thing was, the idle mixture ended up on the bottom where it was very hard to adjust. I took the thing out again, at least once, to back it off (add fuel) a couple of turns to make it idle ok. I also had to drill out where one of the other cables connected (I forget which). But now everything seems fine.
I bought a new AC 300 the last year they made them.What a great machine,super low could out pull machines with bigger motors,sorry i sold it ,was like new when i sold it first person that seen it bought it
Interesting, up to a point... perhaps you can add a link to the part supplier, or a better description of the carb (make, model) maybe update on the jet size etc) + ALWAYS start the vehicle to show off your handiwork.....
Handiling a handful of choke parts right over the open intake port is not suggested. Cover it with something to prevent dropping something into the combustion chamber. Would be nice to see it running at the end...
Be warned When you remove the carburetor, your head is exposed. It is very easy to drop a screw or something down into the engine. My advice is make sure You place a towel or a rag. In that hole. If you were to accidentally drop a screw down there, you're in a world of hurt.

Why did you choose to replace rather than rebuild? I can’t think of a reason not to rebuild.
The OEM carb is almost $800!
Just a new OEM float is over $80 (not including the needle and seat)!
eBay replacement carb is $46
What was the black hose on the carb for? Where does it connect?
Having a heck of a time trying to get the new carb to go back in with the two boots. Seems cramped up.

Yes you will have to. Set the fuel air mix screw about 3.5turns out
