As sickening as it feels to give them credit...that´s actually how the Sword of Omens worked in the original. It was pretty much as deus ex machina as the Sonic Screwdriver, one episode Lion-o literally uses it to open a path in solid rock cause the sword is magic and can do whatever it wants. Of course that doesn´t make the "joke" any funny but kudos for actually watching the show? Oh I´m not surprised they attacked Silverhawks, another great 80s cartoon used for cheap laughs nowdays...
Yeah, the sword had it's deus moments, but for the most part followed the same skillset. Sight beyond sight, beam attack, call the thundercats, and grow to full size when needed.
I swear, The Legend of Boggy Ben could've been a funny episode. There's an anime that has an episode with a similar premise, which the anime is called Cromartie High School. The premise is about how one of the students heard a song that another student was humming, and since he found it catchy, he started humming it too. The entire school was trying to figure out what's the name of the song, ending with them humming it as a choir in front of the whole school. They never found out the name of the song, but the viewer is told at the end so they wouldn't be sent into insanity trying to figure out the name of the song. (But if we know the internet, we would've found it eventually.) If the Thundercats Roar episode just stayed with Lion-O trying to open the cookie jar, ending with him getting into trouble trying to open the jar, it would've been way funnier than the final product that was aired. But alas, this is modern Cartoon Network, only caring about their imaginary audience.
i work on golf courses. every morning, before you are awake, we show up, punch in, and roll off across the greens on our lawn mowers, sand pros, gators and club cars to our work destinations. none of these vehicles move that fast. everyone has their own special vehicle. there is never a time when i see dudes rolling along that i don't think of thundercats.
This crapsack of a show is an insult to the original. Not only that, but I hate this artistic (lack of) style, where it looks like a kindergarten kid could've drawn this.
The thundercats summoning thing is from the original show. Although originally the beam would just go up into the sky and true loyal thundercats would be connected to the plea of their lord and sense the signal.
Wow that episode of Lion O struggling to open a jar reminds me of the TTG episode where the Go Titans embark on a quest to gather...sandwich ingredients. Yeah you read that right, the whole episode is just about them making a sandwich and even that somehow ended up being better than Lion O opening a jar. At least TTG managed to get a chuckle out of me when Go Robin is bored waiting in line at the grocery store for his ingredient while everyone else is having a far more exciting time gathering their ingredients. And then at the end he still acts like his was the hardest to get. But even that’s better than Lion O struggling to open a jar for ninety seconds. I dunno maybe Lion O should summon the original Powerpuff girls to come over and open his jar. Original Buttercup: “Boy, what a wimp!” New Lion O: /bursts into tears/ Me: Then again maybe not.
To be fair to the TTG episode, it has some decent moments, everyone is on a grand, harrowing adventure for their part of the sandwich except Robin who is stuck in line at a bakery, and in the end the pet ate the sandwich and they moved on, no one else got the sandwich, there was no sandwich cannon or anything like that. I am no fan of TTG but that episode I did get a couple chuckles out of, so far all the media on this show has literally angered me and I'm not a Thundercats fan. I STILL haven't forgiven the creators for having Liono call the Sword of Omens his "Magical Stabbing Stick" in the trailer.
I use to watch the Thundercats in the 80's when I was little and I vaguely remember episodes where Mummra or the Mutants or a monster of third earth would cause trouble on the ThunderCats or the citizens of 3rd earth and the Thundercats would save the day like a police-force and learn a valuable lesson. I remember episodes where Mummra sends a giant rock monster to destroy Cats lair, one episode where Snarf gets taken down into a giant spider lair and the cats have to defeat it's new Queen spider. There's another episode where the Mutants enslave a primative race for slave labor and the Thundercats liberate them. Another episode where the cats get hunted by a human who exploits their fears and weaknesses and Lion-O and Snarf outsmart him and save everyone. It's real pathetic how stories for kids have devolved to Lion-O can't open cookie jar so goes on quest to open say cookie jar while Pantro builds a cookie launcher to his tank 🙄
... I believe I saw them on twitter saying that "you can say whatever you like but it's great animation" for this episode in particular but this isn't really great animation. Also looks like the show they're watching on the TV thats not really supposed to exist, not even in THIS continuity where the teaser trailer had Lion-O not knowing what it was, looks like Silverhawks or something.
... Also, do I have to mention that cookie jars are NOT pickle jars?... they aren't sealed like that? usually the lid is more like a softly positioned cork?
Maybe the one scene I backhandedly commended, but that's it. And indeed, cookie jars are not like that -- most of the time they're not even in a jar at all. Thank you for watching this video!
@@icecreamhero2375 except, like I said, cookie jars arent hard to open. You can have it be a normal book that's hard to open, but it's going to seem very contrived because people can only suspend disbelief so far, and they are familiar with how easy it is to open a book. That's why in the atomic puppet episode referenced in this video, it's a pickle jar, cause they actually ARE hard to open, and thus it isnt contrived. Your average cookie jar lid comes off if you bump it too hard. And yes it's a cartoon. But it's not a nitpick- it's my suspension of disbelief not being on any foundation, because if instead of breaking the cookie jar melted when it hit the ground, it wouldnt make sense and you would wonder why it melted, cause theres no heat, or anything. Cartoons have rules like anything else.
@@battybuddy Book thats hard to open. Well it could be an indistructible diary with a lock on it, Or the diary could be in a metal box. Also I bought it just fine I mean its very minor because that was the last thing I was thinking about they could change the object in the jar and the plot would be the same. Would you like it better if it was pickles.
As someone who fell in love with 2011 Thunder Cats, (and who has common sense and good cartoon taste and art skills of my own) I H A T E this reboot- everything about it is gross...
It's also considered a Cartoon Network original because it appeared in it's sign on and sign off bumpers. I'm going to guess it might end up having the same fate as The Powerpuff Girls (2016).
It might, but it probably won’t. It’s not that bad of a show. It’s a little rough around the edges and the pacing is too fast sometimes but the background animation and the action scenes are kind of nice looking. And it still follows the story of the original series, if it was an abridged version. (See Dragon Ball Z and DBZ Abridged by TeamFourStar as a prime example). Some of the jokes are funny and I did get a chuckle out of them. I think if the show slowed down the pacing a little bit and streamlined some of the character’s designs (Lion-O and Cheetara come to mind), then this version of the Thundercats could work.
@Benzie Johnson No prob dude. Really enjoyed the video. As an aspiring animator myself, I find this show incredibly ugly and a spit in the face to animation as a whole.
Even I think that Warner/CN had the idea of insult the fans for not mention Thundercats Roar again. Teen Titans go maybe will recieve critics but I don't think that can be damaged for made the crossover. Reason: Two years trying of bring Thundercats Roar is a lot of time and wasted money, isn't strange that they probably wanted a definitive solution. This is my theory only.
Usually the "strong guy can't open a jar" gag is the kind of small joke you sprinkle over an episode in bites. Kim Possible did this before to good effect. How TCats has done it, though, they waste an entire episode of time. Lame.
I think it's already cancelled at this point... Hopefully it is. Grew up with Cartoon Network in the 2000's and seeing this shit at 20 years old is upsetting.
I never watched Thundercats and I was never a fan of it, so personally I don't know how to feel about it. But I do see the pain for og thundercats fans.
Wait... they landed on this new planet A DAY AGO and this poorly flavoured Cheeto Puff over here already knows folk lore about mystical creatures and potions and where stuff is!? .... she’s going to be this shows Raven in the group, isn’t she? Liono is Robin, Tigra/Panthro is Cyborg, Kit and Kat are Beast boy... I’m calling it now
My biggest problem with this show is the character desings. How is everything so simple. Panthro looks like some grey frog, Cheetara has that stupid feminist haircut, WilyKit and WilyKat are honestly flat out ugly, list goes on.
Teen Titans Go did a character unable to open a jar of pickles joke years earlier but did the joke BETTER cuz it went somewhere in the End... Christ roar..... the fuck
Honestly I think the new artstyle really throws me off. Lion O would look like he sounds like a child but when he actually talks you remember he is an child in an adult's body and it hits you like a truck.
I'm a 80s kid and I find it weird that adults who are bias are so invested in this. Our childhood cartoons had morals and life lessons this generation not so much but don't need to crap on it it's not meant for 30 to 40 yrs.
I'd argue one segment of it is a particular crowd who wants to claim 'they changed it, now it sucks'. Another crowd is parents and folks who watched the previous series who are (rightly) calling Roar out for its failings. While we do have to understand this show is aiming for a modern youth audience, I don't feel that gives it a free pass to get away with inherent, avoidable flaws. I only really grew up a generation or two behind the kids of today, and even I can see this show has real issues. Thank you for watching this video!
I don't consider _Atomic Puppet_ "in limbo" anymore, given it's been a while, though I would love to have more of it. It's unfortunate that this is what CN thinks audiences will enjoy... Thank you for watching this video!
@@benzj If I'm remembering right My Life As a Teenage Robot went through a very long limbo period, between 5-10 years. It's unlikely, but it is possible Atomic Puppet could end up with a similar issue. I think the show isn't that bad, i didn't see the original show and it was probably better, but people just hate because it can't beat the feeling of nostalgia (nothing can). people who saw the original are probably an older public, but this show is ment for kids! my brother (9years old) really likes the show and thinks it is pretty good. I don't want to say people can't say it is bad but please don't make a youtube video about every episode just to say it is bad...
TTG only is popular because CN filled most of their time blocks with the show in the past. They actively didn't give you a choice in the matter, if there was another show on CN you wanted to watch you had to slog through episode after episode. Hell, they had to promo TCR in a TTG episode for fuck sake. I think that kind of proves that CN doesn't care if you don't like the show, if they want you to watch it they will make you. TCR is probably going to get the same treatment as TTG, filling up time blocks with re-run episodes as new ones are being made so ratings can be boosted artificially and thus the show can continue being made. My problem with shows like TTG and TCR, is there's no over-arcing storyline. It's just...disjointed episodes with no real lesson or meaning. The originals for these two had lessons, they had over-arcing plots that fit together. It's sad to see these 'reboots' lose what made those shows so impactful. Nowadays, companies like CN seem to think young kids are too dumb to understand lessons while other companies like Disney at least give kids enough credit not to treat them like idiots.
8:43 Do you not watch teen titans g. Because I have seen worse episodes. Like the Pancakes episode. But I'm sure the haters of thundercats roar will consider that a masterpiece compare to this show. And then you complain about light bursting through wall. Am I the only who think this show is a cartoon. You know the one place where impossible can happen.
No, I don't watch Teen Titans Go, but I hear that even they can get it right sometimes. The light wasn't a serious criticism, but given this show's gotten everything else wrong, why not point it out? It's ridiculous, yes, and usually I can accept that, but this isn't the way you do ridiculous. Thank you for watching this video!
@@benzj Good on you for not watching Teen Titans go. That show is Garbage but after 6 six season they are bound to get an episode or 2 right.
As an animation enthusiast, this show’s entire existence disgusts me.
It sucks the fluid animation and the animators time was wasted on this.
The animation of the intro to Roar WISHES it was OK KO
I lost my hope for cartoon network ever sense teen titans go came out
This crapsack of a show is an insult to the original. Not only that, but I hate this artistic (lack of) style, where it looks like a kindergarten kid could've drawn this.
2 years and 1 manbun later, this show was a waste of money.
Uncle Grandpa: We extend the journey for a simple task.
Thundercats Roar: Hold my sword.
did they just dowmgrade silverhawks for a joke? FUCK THIS SHOW SO MUCH RIGHT NOW
This looks like a fan fic from a 5 year old drawing it by hand.
Glad i haven't eaten breakfast yet cause this cartoon makes me want to puke.
I’m surprised this show even got made
Ikr
Being a CN fan sucks, as soon as you think they're getting better and then suddenly, a piece of shit comes out and it gets reversed.
The thundercats summoning thing is from the original show. Although originally the beam would just go up into the sky and true loyal thundercats would be connected to the plea of their lord and sense the signal.
Was that a go/roar version of the Silver Hawks in episode 3/2b?
I believe it was. And that hurts.
Ironically enough, the best teen titans go episode started because Cyborg needed to open a jar. (40%, 40%, 20%)
You failed to mention that the theme song is absolutely uninspiring....
It just so happens : the show
@@battybuddy Thats a nit pick it is a cartoon so you can exaggerat anything being hard to open.
I rather watch bad Netflix movies then this.
I'd rather binge watch candle cove
@@layers5255 You mean the channel zero candle cove?
@@painterguy6469 I was referring to that old tv show that I watched as a kid. Strangely, no one remembers it, though...
@@layers5255 Isn't that the show with the pirate puppets and that creepy skeleton guy that steals children skin?
Fullmetal Alchemist Live action? That doesn't sound so bad anymore... Might regret those words later.
It's also considered a Cartoon Network original because it appeared in it's sign on and sign off bumpers. I'm going to guess it might end up having the same fate as The Powerpuff Girls (2016).
But worse
The ppg reboot is better than this
Shame that, besides stealing from a good series, that they steal nice anime techniques with horrible character designs.
In my completely honest opinion, the Lion Guard would totally cream these snowflakes.
That fight against the monster was well-animated. It's too bad the resources were wasted on THIS show.
The amount of unnecessary close ups on the characters’ hideous faces greatly disturbs me.
Indeed -- why emphasize possibly the worst part of this art style?
Thank you for watching this video!
@Benzie Johnson No prob dude. Really enjoyed the video. As an aspiring animator myself, I find this show incredibly ugly and a spit in the face to animation as a whole.
Wait... was that show on the TV supposed to be SIlverhawks? I am even more upset now...
Lame.
This show is either cartoon network or the creator trying to create a second teen titans go
I'd guess it's Cartoon Network making the attempt...
Thank you for watching this video!
I think it's already cancelled at this point... Hopefully it is. Grew up with Cartoon Network in the 2000's and seeing this shit at 20 years old is upsetting.
Tygra looks like a grandpa
I never watched Thundercats and I was never a fan of it, so personally I don't know how to feel about it.
But I do see the pain for og thundercats fans.
Wait... they landed on this new planet A DAY AGO and this poorly flavoured Cheeto Puff over here already knows folk lore about mystical creatures and potions and where stuff is!?
.... she’s going to be this shows Raven in the group, isn’t she? Liono is Robin, Tigra/Panthro is Cyborg, Kit and Kat are Beast boy... I’m calling it now
Thanks for the review. I can’t wait to see your thoughts about Glitch Techs.
It's a video I hope to get out soon, so make sure you're subscribed to my channel so you don't miss it!
Thank you for watching this video!
I bet it's better than the cn shows.
What's even more crazy is that I wasn't aware this even had a crossover. Thank god for wifi.
My biggest problem with this show is the character desings. How is everything so simple. Panthro looks like some grey frog, Cheetara has that stupid feminist haircut, WilyKit and WilyKat are honestly flat out ugly, list goes on.
Sorry I don't eat Bad Cookies for this reboot, especially without a glass of spoiled milk!! *Threw a huge carton on the whole team*
Here *gives good cookies and good milk*
Teen Titans Go did a character unable to open a jar of pickles joke years earlier but did the joke BETTER cuz it went somewhere in the End... Christ roar..... the fuck
I actually like Mumm-ra's design.
An insult to the franchise
3:50 I am asking this to the old school show and the 2011 remake fans.
*_Lion-o's sword could change it size?_*
Actually yes, it could. That red orb thing it has is what allows it to adjust its size, but it can only extend fully if there is an enemy present.
when lion-o was singing it sound like Ronnie James Dio,
10:06 they weren't happy with making a mockery of one show they had to drag down silverhawks too.
I'm not surprised, honestly.
Thank you for watching this video!
I never saw the original Thunder cats unfortunately, can any fans of that version tell me....was Lion-o even dumb in the original like he is here?
They're hiring those Storytime animators from TH-cam..
God, it make me wonder, what Claudius ( Lion o father ) think of Lion o action. Maybe fulled of disappointment and regret.
Honestly I think the new artstyle really throws me off.
Lion O would look like he sounds like a child but when he actually talks you remember he is an child in an adult's body and it hits you like a truck.
i miss that anime ThunderCats
How an "awful" show can have cool fluid hand drawn animation?!
4:28 You mean the show hadn't already?
I agree! I'm enjoying this series because I'm a fan of the franchise and if you don't like it, don't simply watch it! 😁
@@GB8492 what if the kid's don't watch and it gets cancelled.
It makes me sad companies make stuff like this, but Atomic Puppet gets stuck in limbo.
I still don't understand why it is in such a state to begin with given how good it was, but at least I have the new Duck Tales to watch.
The One Piece anime has better story pacing.
My home made Lion-o costume in 2nd grade looked better than the animation on this show, and my costume was pretty terrible.
If we ignore this CN could cancel this reboot just like the other one... but if it still calling our attention is going to became like teen titans, it will continue :/
Did you just talk about Steven Universe Future????
IT ENDED, I’M CRYING, the only stupid CN shows I can watch now is Teen Titans Go and of course, ThunderCats Roar
I rather watch all of teen Titans go than watch this. Then again I was one of the few ppl who mostly liked teen titans go (edit) I haven’t seen the original thunder cats
They made it funny so it isn't bad just made for kids
Holy shlt the animation is goood man, which makes it sucks more 😖
There is indeed some truly well-done animation that is wasted on this art style and this show. It's a shame, really...
Thank you for watching this video!
The show that was the TV was was silver hawks just in this cartoon own bad animation style
Jaime Martinez Thundercats 2011 did a better job of using silverhawk as a cameo than this disgrace.
Dude... It's for kids... And It's silly but cool to watch. The Animation is great and not cheap at all.

What is this shit how did we go from the 2012 thunder cats to this monstrosity
I've bever seen the Original Thundercats, but i can agree that Liono looks ridiculosly round and chunky now.
I hate Teen Titans go cause it's stupid
It’s aimed for kids,so yeah i guess they take them for stupid kid and therefore they went on with cheap humor and weak scenarios..
Actually there's no new episode
I think the show isn't that bad, i didn't see the original show and it was probably better, but people just hate because it can't beat the feeling of nostalgia (nothing can). people who saw the original are probably an older public, but this show is ment for kids! my brother (9years old) really likes the show and thinks it is pretty good. I don't want to say people can't say it is bad but please don't make a youtube video about every episode just to say it is bad...
Its a bad show but kids are gonna like it like how they did teen titans go
TTG only is popular because CN filled most of their time blocks with the show in the past.
The animation is the only bad thing i've seen in this version
Oh man this show sucks, and the show they are watching on TV was the SilverHawks. Please don't ruin that show like they did ThunderCats!
But i like thundercat rour,TTG,PPG 2016 reboot,ben 10 2017 reboot im also WeRid also im 17 y old
8:43 Do you not watch teen titans g.
