Wow you guys have Anders replying on here in person. I'm star struck. Man you have the most malevolent vocals and they don't disappoint live. Your voice is a true pillar in the metal community as far as I'm concerned!
Omgg, yes, Arcane Rain Fell tops them all for me imo. I mean, Where Lovers Mourn, Sovran and The Burning Halo kinda come close? But Arcane Rain Fell got me into such a state that I hadn't experienced ever since I was getting into Draconian's genre neighbours - Tristania, back in the beginning of 2018.
Draconian are great, and I think Alice's head would explode if you listened to Trees of Eternity. There's no official videos that I know of since their only album was released after the vocalist Aleah died of cancer in 2016, but this one gives me the chills: th-cam.com/video/_2tVOYPJk6o/w-d-xo.html
There is a video for Sinking Ships. th-cam.com/video/hcND9i1pSRo/w-d-xo.html This is the video where Aleah is wearing the necklace that reappears in the Hallatar video for My Mistake.
you guys ever do EBM or industrial, aggrotech, goth rock? ...asking cause the female of the show looks like she knows who Skinny Puppy and or Godflesh is...
Not sure if you know a band My Dying Bride but here are 3 songs to check out , Feel The Misery, Your Broken Shore and The Poorest Waltz. All there songs are great but these 3 are a few of my faves. Cheers🤘
As years passed by i got a bit impatient to listen doom and its subgenres characterized by slow tempo ) But good stuff indeed. Also if you want a bit black-ish doom hybrid, try early Katatonia - Brave murder day, Dance of December Souls - cool stuff.
You asked bands without attention they deserve.. coming after preface: In my top three list of female fronted metal bands having both growl and 'normal' singing you have already reacted Spiritbox and Jinjer. I found Spiritbox only lately but I have started to like the way how Courtney sings. So far listened only couple of songs and still digging in. Jinjer saved my life few years ago when I was driving on night few hundred kilometres back to my home while being very tired, I tried punk and other stuff, but when I selected Jinjer, their adrenaline kept me awake. I actually don't usually come back to most of their songs but really listen three songs from them again and again: "I speak Astronomy", "Perennial" and "Retrospection". Now finally to the indie band, band is named Ignea and they are not on any record company. It's also Ukrainian band like Jinjer, the singer is not as versatile in normal singing as Tatyana from Jinjer but I like her very low growl and I like their melodies more than Jinjer syncopation style. The band itself describes their music: "band incorporating various subgenres in their music: symphonic metal, melodic death metal, progressive metal, folk metal, and more". First I saw one of their videos few years ago, cane back to that couple of times and then forgot the whole band until February in this year when I found them again when they released the "Disenchanment".
If you listen to the whole album, the lyrics make a lot more sense! It's all about Gnostic Christianity, so when it says creator, it is literally talking about a creator etc.
Thanks for the like 🖤 You really really should check out Paradise Lost! Their new album "obsidian" incredible. Tunes to check out "darker thoughts" & "fall from grace". Older stuff "the last time" , "say just words" & "as I die"🖤
@@ArsenicAndEspressoPodcast haha 😁 i know the urge is powerful. i bet Alice did the same secretely the whole D-trip is suis generis - and reliving it with you guys is cool. try something from "Sovran" next
Ooooh yes you do. The backstory of that record is so heartbreaking it brings tears to your eyes. My requiem is my go to song when dealing with the deaths in my family the last years.
I'm ashamed, I really love this band but I'm just now hearing this album 18 months after it's release. Great fucking song, great reaction video. This band has mastered the blend of beauty, melancholy, ambience and evil and wrapped it up in a nice depressing package which is absorbed in your soul as therapy. What a great song!

Clean vocals and growling aka "The beauty and the beast" -style you say! You have to listen to Theatre of Tragedy, the pioneer of the style. Start with their first two albums, Theatre of Tragedy and Velvet Darkness They Fear. Of the tracks I suggest Dying - I Only Feel Apathy or The Masquarader And Phoenix.
I love how they have the beauty and the beast vocals on point it really reminds me of early Paradise lost from the late 80s and Anathema and My dying bride when they used to be more of a doom death metal band. Another band worth listening to is defiantly Triptykon from Switzerland it’s basically Tom G Warriors band after he split up Celtic Frost.
Heike Langhans from Draconian has an upcoming album with my friends Mike Lamb & Scotty Lodge from Sojourner on November 20th, for their new band Light Field Reverie. Their debut album Another World will release on Avantgarde Music/Shadowed Road Records. Very dreamy & dark doom metal.
You guys should give Death Come Near Me from Draconian. It is around 15 minutes of melodic gothic doom metal perfection. Make sure you get the album version as some of fan made videos and the few live performances shorten it down to around 10 minutes. The female singer (Lisa Johansson) on Death Come Near Me is different from the one you heard in this song, (Heike Langhans) Heike replaced Lisa for a few years, but now Lisa has returned to replace Heike. There is a live version of Sleepwalkers that features both Lisa and Heike
Omg, how did i miss this episode? How did i miss this band? It's like early The Gathering meets Emma Ruth Rundle with a dip of Opeth vibe, but it sounds so unique, soft and powerful. I hope there's a single german word to describe this sound. I'll save you the text wall about the photography and direction of this video ; it's beyond words. Instant playlist for me. Thanks for sharing, your channel is a wellspring of love for music.
Nice reaction, and we need more Draconian please!😀 Hard to pick just one song to suggestion, so maybe 2 of my favourites: Morphine cloud and Pale tortured blue.
nice reaction please do check out "Wintersun - loneliness" its one of the most beautiful songs out there. the band itself is masterpiece (melodic death metal band)
Oh wow, if you love doom metal then please check out My Dying Bride; The wreckage of my flesh, from Songs of darkness, Words of light. They are so moody!!! Omg
Greetings from France, Alice and Josh. A long time ago (90'), there have been, for me, a bridge between "goth" (Das Ich, Christian Death, Lacrimosa, Bauhaus...) and "metal" music (Darkthrone, Bathory, Impaled Nazarene, the first Cradle of Filth, ....) : Doom metal with Tiamat - Clouds 3th album. There's so many "old" band to discover....Paradise Lost : As I die - Theatre of Tragedy - Der Tanz Der Schatten - First 6 albums of Therion.... In vino veritas, and stay safe (Sorry for my english :p)
I wonder if you guys take any suggestions/requests for songs or rather do your own research for ideas. Anyway if they could be of any use I would love to recommend & share a few songs that I grew up with. They all have a very haunting or classic sound, which I just LOVE. I figured you might enjoy them 🙃 Trail Of Tears - Temptress (1998) My Dying Bride - She is the Dark (1999) Cradle of Filth - The Twisted Nails of Faith (1998) Old CoF😌 Therion - Voyage of Gurdijeff (2004) My favorite song of them of all time. Apocalyptica - Farewell (2005) Sadest song ever 😢
I recently bought this album, and it's pretty solid. Worth buying. Now knowing the vocal style that you like, you MUST react to Fleshgod Apocalypse "Epilogue". Beautiful video...beautiful vocals. More classically influenced musically and visibly. Probably my favorite band as of now.
Wow... I was blown away.. The mv is just straight ART. I, as a photographer, got so much visual pleasure and inspiration! Phenomenal!... Thank you for this reaction! I learned new stuff with it! 🖤
Draconian's last two albums Sovran and A Rose for the Apocalypse have been permanent fixtures on my IPhone for the last couple of years. They are such a great band. If you are interested in this style of vocals, I would highly recommend checking out Theatre of Tragedy
Hello from Japan I have a wonderful metal request for you that should blow your mind the band is called dimlim and it's there song called vanitas from there first album they started as a 5 member death metal band then dropped 2 members for the second album and became a math rock band the singer sho is 100% self taught in high noted cleans and brutal screams and it's 100% worth it to react to them
Draconian (I love 1º singer, but the 2º its cool), The Sins of Thy Beloved (NOR), Thatre of Tragedy (1° , 2º and the last album), Rain Fell Within (USA).
Hahaha All the other reaction videos that I’ve watched are of people talking during the song and finally I found some people who actually respects the music and listens to it. Respect!
It’s been mentioned numerous times already, but you should really check out Trees of Eternity. The vocalist, Aleah Starbridge, died from cancer before their only album was released. All of the songs on the album are heartbreaking, considering Aleah wrote them while battling cancer, as you can tell by the lyrics. Note: Heike, the female vocalist for Draconian was also a very good friend of Aleah. Maybe start with the song Gallows Bird, the final song on the album.
Thank you so much for these words, guys. =)
Thank YOU, Anders ❤️

Draconian's classic album Arcane Rain Fell is, in my opinion, the greatest doom album of all time.
Then you should check Epica - Abyss Of Time. Great colaboration of Operatic and growling vocals.
Draconian- The Wretched Tide, Seasons Apart. You can here the two different female vocalists, both amazing.
Heike the current singer in the wretched tide
Draconian are great, and I think Alice's head would explode if you listened to Trees of Eternity. There's no official videos that I know of since their only album was released after the vocalist Aleah died of cancer in 2016, but this one gives me the chills:

Just listen to the entire Sovran album and work your way back from there, Draconian is without equals.

Death come near me and The cry of silence are my favorite. Other bands I woul recommend: Tristania, Therion, Haggard and Sirenia
