I'm new to this band. Last two albums are a non stop listen for me. They have been around since the 90's so not a new band but the current female voice is on the last two albums. Long story short, Sophia is the creator of Earth but it was not her right to create it so was then imprisoned on Earth as punishment. Sophia gave humans 12 good emotions(?) like empathy, love and so on. End of song is a plea to set her free. Love this band
All the lyrics from this album refer to gnosticism, a system of beliefs that originated in 1st century AD among early Christians and Jews. The album is amazing BTW.
I'm a very old school metal fan, I started with number of the beast and 2112 in the 80s. I struggled initially with harsh vocal styles, but today I find that my top 3 bands are Epica, Wintersun and Draconian, who all mix in harsh and beauty together. The harsh bits somehow make the beauty more profound

The female singer sounds like Sharon den Adel. The lyrics are themed on Gnosticism..... not sure which branch, but Gnosis nonetheless.
Sophia = Wisdom.
Gnosis is not something monolithic, there are many, many ideas about different characters and their different names in the stories of Gnosis.
I have a book, called The Pistes Sophia (the Faith of Wisdom), .... esoteric in nature. Maybe when i have read it a thousand times, i can understand what it says.
