From what I remember, everyone including herself was against her going through the trials as she didn't need them to do the job. Maybr I'm remembering wrong but she was already plenty capable, and geralt and vesemir both were against it right.
@@aleksandergolembka8659 she just looks weird and not a all like the ciri of TW3 even concidering her being 20 years older, people dont change completely like that
I also think you are correct, most of those comments are rage bait. And besides that, Ciri is generally angry and/or concentrating fighting a monster in this trailer, her face is going to reflect that. She's not posing and smiling for some glamour magazine or auditioning for Stellar Blade ...
As someone who doesn't really follow the Witcher series, but isn't a fan of most modern AAA western games, I did not understand the controversy. It seemed contrived. She just looks like a matured warrior to me. I know Endymion has to triple down since he called out CD Project Red. Also, all the characters seem to be ethnically "accurate". There's no pleasing them.
Ciri was already training to become a Witcher even as far back as the books. Not only do they show these in flasbbacks in Witcher 3, but you even have a few missions where you play as her.
@TheFLAMEXD training in the style of a Witcher isn't the same as taking the trial of the grasses, did you actually play the game or just watch let's plays on TH-cam?
As someone who does know, go and google Witcher 3 Ciri and Yennefer and then you'll kind of get why people are unhappy. I think there's a very fine balance they have to strike between not overhardening Ciri, and not making her too light like in the Witcher 3. So they have to tone it down juuust a little bit, both in the maturity of the voice (raise the pitch a little to make it younger) and in the facial features. But ever so slightly like what happened with Horizon's character. You can look at Alloy before and after she was enhanced.
i have finished witcher 3 and dlc, and i do not remember her face like that, yeah she does quite look old, but if she is a witcher i know for a fact that witcher does not age fast.
You talk as if Luke has ever, even once, called out the other side, your side, that has been pushing their politics into games for over a decade and gotten rich off of it. Plot twist: He never did and never will.
@@MeltonCrest We're entering into the era where Gen-Z/Gen-A have grown up on nothing but this wokeness, so it's all they know. Notice how as they come into their own they are actively pushing back against people exercising pattern recognition. This was the long game, this is what the left wanted. They are raising an army of defenders.
I don't mind her looks. She looks tough and battle worn. Reminds me a little bit of Lagertha in Vikings. After all, a witcher spends more time outdoors hunting than in front of a mirror with make up.
As someone who despises ‘woke’ stuff - I think she looks fine. People are snagging frames of her that just look bad and using that as a baseline for what the whole trailer looks like. The Witcher 3 is probably my favorite game ever. Loved Thronebreaker. Loved Cyberpunk 2077. So I’m a big CDPR fan. But I am more upset with them seemingly making Ciri into ‘girl Geralt’. I’d be a lot more comfortable with their decision if she was just Ciri. If she was a sorceress with the elder blood who was also trained in swordplay by Witchers. But instead they wanted to make her a Witcher - which not only seems ‘lore bending’… but it also just reinvents a beloved character. I liked the idea of Ciri as a monster hunter/slayer to try to follow in her Father’s footsteps. I don’t like the idea of her wanting to literally become a Witcher, because it doesn’t make sense to me. That being said if anyone can pull it off, it is CDPR. They have the best writers in the business.
@@adamb.m4844 This is just not true and I don't know where this rumor is coming from. The new Witcher team is a hybrid of the Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk teams and I believe that some of the people that left are actually working on the Witcher 1 remake.
Agreed. I’m more conservative myself and hate the woke shit but anyone saying this is woke are either listening to obvious grifters who make a living off of calling out woke shit or their brains are fried from watching too much porn. People forget that Geralt looked completely different in the Witcher 3 cinematic trailers. I think she looks great here, more mature, more realistic for sure.
BTW this guy shilled for veilguard and when he saw the public opinion he did a 180 on the game. Now he'll just gaslight you into thinking you're the "crazy one" for noticing patterns in the industry. Pathetic.
She doesn't even look that older, it's the wierd lighting and overall darkness. It's finally reversing and anti woke witch mobs, although they have a reason to behave like that, went fill Don Kichot. I still remember and still will hate those who made the fuss with the passion, about how no colour people are in the Witcher, cause we can't dismiss other cultures except when it's the culture Witcher originates from and Slavs, especially us, the Polish were always diverse in ethnic origins not colour, and for the pendulum to swing and now we have some NotSee adjacent skull measurements is wild.
@@TheFLAMEXD yep, and if they decide to include some more Zerrikanians and maybe even travel to Zerrikania in the games, that could be pretty cool. Unlike the Netflix show making the cast racially diverse with no rhyme or reason
My problem isn't people saying this type of stuff. What I have an issue with are those who take this discourse seriously rather than instantly ridiculing it. This has gone on long enough and I'm sick of minorities with extreme opinions dominating the mainstream discourse on both sides.
While I agree that the extremes on both sides are bad, I do think that the anti-woke are much worse when it comes to discourse. But there is a lesson to take from this from our fellow Witcher: "Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, it makes no difference. If I'm to choose between one evil and another, I'd rather not choose at all."
@@TheFLAMEXD Much worse because they're defending hobbies the only way they know how? Anti-woke have ZERO marketing power or product power. It's fans fed up with their hobbies being purposely invaded and ruined. What's worse are the people defending the destruction of someone else's pastime and passion. It's sick.
I spent who knows how many hours 3d modeling (and sculpting in real life) faces. There are some issues with the model but overall it's pretty good. Let's see what it looks like when it launches. I personally didn't like the super dark eye shadow of the character in W3 either, but that's what mods are for :)
Yeah idky people are angry at her look. She is just an older woman in that game now. I am angry that it appears that they are removing her elder blood powers and turning her into a generic witcher
I think it makes sense for her character to trade her powers in for the abilities of a Witcher. She probably doesn’t want to have this target on her back anymore and choose her own path, her own identity. So she knowingly nerved herself
@ i am sure there will be “reasons” but i would always disagree with them. At least we know from their previous work, the game will be fun and enjoyable though this main character will always be controversial
@@Sparticulousthere's absolutely nothing controversial about Ciri as a character. We know fuck all about what abilities she'll have and what the game whll be like; all CDPR did was showed a trailer that won't even be in the game, it's just a cinematic promo. Just chill tf out until they confirm something or show gameplay and it genuinely is suspect, than be angry ffs. People are just so retarded these days smh
She's apparently not much older here, though. I've read that they said she's only a few years older or so, so this apparently isn't like 15 years later, as some people think. With this in mind, I would think she'd look closer to her TW3 model.
im old ciri is old and she looke great...dont know how old ciri is supposed to be in this game, but w w3 being pretty old when the next game is released she has aged and living as a witcher will probably make u look older also sooooo! But ugly i dont think she is..looks great 4 the game
Asmongold's video explains the issue in a normal manner, unlike that tweet. Too often people can use bad examples and project that onto nearly everyone who has a certain view point.
Not listening to any of this sort of bull moving forward, it's tiring and pathetic. I can't wait for The Witcher 4 and Ciris story is going to be just as epic as Geralts. Just hope I live to see it release (bad health situation).
I didnt really notice the look at all, I noticed that they turned her into discount geralt and pretty much disregarded the endings of 3 by having her chugging potions like she went through the mutations (against the advice of literally every other character) and forgot that she is in fact, an interdimensional space witch. She was a good character already, why not just let her be her own thing. 😂
why you even use ''against advice'' like it is some big own ? ciri was always emotional and didnt listen to others. did u even play w3 ? she jumps in to fight wild hunt without asking. it makes perfect sense that she would go intot rail of grasses even if geralt told her to not do it
@@sillylittlesheepjax6009 she also deeply respected geralt and vesemir so I don't think she thought so little of their opinion as to blatantly ignore it. It just seems like a cheap way to make her more like geralt instead of working with who she already was. I mean she is a fictional character and they can say she did whatever they want but it seems unnecessary to me. Just because she was rebelious doesn't mean she would just do it because she wanted. I mean maybe you could argue she would do it to feel closer to geralt but idk about that.
@@feircy what abt her not having kids ? everybody in this world wants to have her kid and use her power, if trail of the grasses is the only way to not have them she would do it. cdpr can go with many diff ways with this witcher ciri plot
I don't gwt the hate either. She's a monster hunter and later became a Witcher. I doubt beuty is on her priority of things to do and uphold. She doesn't even look bad, just a more mature version of the one from the witche 3. She looks around 35 here, and in the witcher 3, she was like 23. Again, it's not a big deal she just looks like a Mommy now.
Oh, for fucks sake... the problem here isn't that she's "ugly" (she looks fine). It's that she looks worse than she did in the Witcher 3. It could just be that they chose to do close-ups of her face in weird angles or when she's frowning etc. (when her face is at rest and further away it looks fine, like I said). Something just feels a bit off and when you take into account CDPR's recent ESG "commitments", the fact that an "adult woman witcher" kinda breaks the lore and CDPR's general "attitude" in recent times...people are just worried, skeptical...I thought that was your whole thing "The proud skeptic", no? Personally, I'm cautiously excited and will postpone any serious judgment until I see some gameplay footage and story details.
She's half elf, and in witcher 3 we lift a curse from an elf using the trial of grasses and he survives. and we don't know about this new school of the lynx and what knowledge they have abou the trials. she looks different in the trailer, sure, but when did a witcher 3 character in a CGI trailer had the same in game face? I think Orianna, the vampire woman, was the closest one in all the trailers. Yennifer's face was completely different and geralt had two different faces in the trailers and none of them were the same that he's in game face.
Exactly this. Some of us are worried what else they will change in the game. They have not only changed her looks, it is also her voice and her behavior that is nothing like the Ciri from tw3. Most people do not like change, and with what happened to the Netflix show, what happened to Veilguard I think it is just fair to be sceptical, especially looking at what the leadership in CDPR is saying in interviews. I really hope the game will be great and we need to see a fair bit of gameplay before we can tell.
Not only that. DEI, ESG, Black Rock, Sweet Baby Inc and the list goes on and on. It‘s the pattern. The conversation is there, because people are sus about all of it, not only Ciri looking like a swollen, middle-aged, botoxed California catlady. Fanboy bots…
The backlash on her looks is dumb really dumb...the backlash because of the lore break I am completely agreeing with. That is the real issue As for the rest tbh I did find her cool all in all so not an issue in my book
She does look older, late 30's plus. She been through rite to become a witcher, slow aging etc she could be 60 at this point. I do hope she starts off without going through trail of grass and the player has to start at 0, alone and monsters in numbers like the ancient times. She is settling a new school. Then you can design your own witcher in the next game. Oh too dream.
I would really like to see how the Gamers calling this CGI character from a teaser trailer ugly look like themselves. How is this woman ugly? Those people are probably looking like Golum themselves and are acting like its woke to not meet their irrational expectations of how a woman they want to sexualise has to look like. Disgusting
She is not ugly, she looks different, and I dont mean aged/ had a hard life, they did something off with her jaw or her mouth. it moves weird and makes the vibe uncomfortable to look at...
I think everyone's feedback is valid. And she looks like shovel. Ask the Ai to make Ciri older. To be fair and I will be the intelligent person here and the adult. It's OK to not care about anything or anyone's opinion. And also it's fair that I don't care about your opinion so if I accept your feedback accept my to. Non of those ppl hou had this feedback complained when they thinked that they maked Uma from Ciri so why would you assume it's trolling?
Remember, Geralt's image details changed between trailer release and game. That said, she looks fine to me, right in that robust 30ish Commander Shepard age zone where you still look good, but the world takes you seriously because you no longer look like a child. Child looks, in reality, don't get taken seriously in an authoritative role like a Witcher. Plus, just being a Witcher ages you. That said, as a girl gamer, sure, I prefer to play someone who looks more like me. I'm sure there was a bias between choosing Alexios vs Cassandra in Odyssey. (Big surprise, I rolled up Cassandra.) Can't we just have both without people screaming "woke"? My indoctrination was Resident Evil. I played Jill. Then I played through as Chris. RE2? You guessed it, I played Claire, then flipped it over to Leon. I played all 7 in RE6. All of that crap aside, this is the obvious next game: Ciri. Witcher 3 was lovely, in part thanks to the quietly tired and sarcastic voice actor for Geralt, but the pieces where you're forced into Ciri's role are incredibly disappointing. No real controls and way to OP. It was crap. To be able to play her for real? Overdue. And the end of this little trailer lets you know the Witcher universe is intact.
I mean if you have no stake in the attractiveness of the character and how she looked never mattered to you in the first place, then I can understand that you'd see all the negative feedback of her face as trolling. I however appreciate her original look, and this new trailer is a definite downgrade in her attractiveness
@@remedylock There are most definitely people who agree with you, but really!? Many of your "group" are calling her ugly. That is patently stupid. Different? Sure, but ugly?! Pure silliness.
This just feels like the Ghost of Yotei teaser trailer situation all over again: A whole bunch of anti-woke grifters getting needlessly mad over a nothing burger and pretending that the game is trying to send a woke message despite there being no proof of such context.
@thebatmanofneo-gotham5667 CD came out in support of DEI long before this trailer, do you people even know anything about the corporations you try to defend?
Since when do we judge a game by a cinematic trailer? I thought we were all pretty unanimous that cinematic trailers were worthless for judging a game. If its legitimate rage abiut some woketism, then its depressing and cringe. If its fake, then its sad we have reached a point that its believable.
I dunno, maybe it's the next gen of gamers. I remember when cinematic trailers were hated because they were never represented of the games. Now they're used to push a narrative, genuinely is abysmal what anti-woke has done to online discussions. I'm cripplingly rasict but I atleast like to be accurate with my hatred. 🤷♀
I like the new trailer. If you want to rage at something let me suggest Intergalactic. But yeah anti-woke people are kneejerking, you know, kinda like woke people kneejerk over things. It's the rule of the fanatic: if you become obsessed with the enemy, you become the enemy.
@@TheFLAMEXD One side purposely ruins the other side's entertainment and hobbies; the other side is reacting to their hobbies being ruined. They are not the same coin by a long shot.
No, they are exercising pattern recognition. Some people are simply blinding themselves because they do not wanted to be castigated as pariahs. Pattern recognition is never incorrect.
In my honest opinion, she just looks a lot older. I'm curious as to how much time has past. CDPR should provide some context here. Also, I believe this has to do with inconsistent CGI because some frames look really good while others do not. It's a lighting thing. Mainly her eyes just look off.
Devs said it's only been a few years and she's just started her Witcher journey. And mutations make you age slower. Why would she look older than Witcher 3.
She looks about 10 years older to me. But the trailer is rendered much more realistically and detailed than in-game W3 character models, so that can make the difference seem bigger. And I'm pretty sure that parts of the trailer (especially the close-ups at the start of the fight) are simulating footage shot with a wide-angle camera lens, which distorts faces quite a bit. Looks cinematic though :)
Well, while the argument about Ciri's look might be an overreaction, we know that CDPR has DEI programs running, so any further suspicion is justified.
@TheFLAMEXD CD themselves put DEI as one of their mission statements on their website, it's not my fault you don't look into any of the shit you regurgitate
Genius marketing strategy by cdpr, now everone will talk about witcher 4 not just witcher fans. People who doesnt know anything about witcher will know get their attention on this coz of this ragebaits on internet and anti woke vs woke toxic guys war lol😂 they(ppl like endymion) are trying get more attention and followers by thinking they are creating controversies against game but actually they r promoting the game lol 😂what a irony
the fact we are having this discussion at all is crazy to me. But apparently that is the standard for internet culture nowadays. Just let people enjoy what they want to enjoy lol
My problem is not her look but that's She has become a Witcher. Which can break the Lore and it's became uninteresting. From a source of all magic to geralt knockoff is not an upgrade they should just find a way to nerf her elder blood power and having her own style of monster culling instead of this.
nah. First off because youre wrong about the lore. Adults can become witchers, it's just very very exceedingly dangerous, though much less so if you are already a creature infused with magic. Which, Ciri is. Also I doubt theyre just not gonna do anything with her origins. I'd be shocked if they didn't incorporate it somehow.
I’m sure they will have a reason to explain this. Whether it’s sufficient or not we will have to wait till we know the reason and get our hands on the story
@@LoudAngryJerk Well, It’s is a pretty fair argument though. I don’t agree with Ciri becoming a knock off Geralt now, but CDPR really have to justify why Ciri risked death to become a full Witcher.
What's amusing is that you're so far in the other direction that I can't tell if you're satire or not. Don't believe me? There you go. Funny how that works.
I hate how this entire discourse just proves what people have been saying for ages, that most gamers don't know what women look like and are just so distanced from reality lmao, it's actually pretty sad to look at
Whether you like her look or not one thing is certain calling others that simply have a subjective opinion rage baiters and grifters is the same disingenuous tactic people use to undermine other opinions by calling them misogynistic, bigoted and racist. It’s a dishonest smear tactic, why aren’t people allowed to have an opinion? Why are they accused of secretly being rage farmers, haters and grifters. Because it’s easier to shut them down and invalidate their opinions by personally attacking and character assassinating others, rather then actually formulating a genuine rebuttal.
Because saying "woke" isn't having an opinion, it's just annoying. These grifters aren't even fans of The Witcher to begin with, they just see it as a popular gaming IP to make ragebaiting videos to smear CDPR and lie to people by overusing the word "woke".
CDPR has been very open about their commitment to ESG and DEI. I don't think Ciri is ugly by any means but she's also far less attractive than in Witcher 3. That is a fact. She went from 10/10 to a 7/10 at best. I don't recall her having even 1 bad frame in Witcher 3 while in the trailer here she has multiple bad frames and looks like she got a bunch of Botox injections. It's pretty naïve to think CDPR's DEI and ESG programs won't have an effect on this game.
A fact is that the sun is hot. A subjective opinion is that someone is more attractive than another. Attractiveness is intrinsically subjective, and, as such, someone cannot be factually less attractive than another. This is why some find fatness, feet, gaseous expulsions, and other things, that I would personally find disgusting as a sexual idea, attractive. I'm not saying that you can't have a greater sexual inclination towards one over the other. I myself prefer the more bright and colorful style of Witcher 3 to cinematic cutscenes regarding sexual attraction. However, to act as if a concept, that is fundamentally subjective, is, in fact, not that, only to justify your opinion regarding sexual attraction, is highly dishonest.
The trailer and Ciri look fine to be honest. If u wanted to go into detail, watch her expression and her posture inside the cave. It's different from a male character. Bro, the dev has been teasing this for years. Let Ciri have her spotlight.
They transitioned Ciri, such a shame they did her dirty, I would have played her story of having elder blood but not this crap they have cooked up..pass CDred
I totally agree. Her becoming a mutated Witcher is really lazy. Also it doesn’t make any sense if you have understood the Witcher book saga you know that Ciri can’t change her fate. There is a scene in the broklion forest where she drinks the water of the broklion which transforms girls into dryads, but when Ciri drinks it she doesn’t transform as her elder blood nullifies it so it is questionable that the trail of grasses would even work on her. Shame on CD red project for using such an important character for their gain.
She's objectively less attractive. Not ugly, but definitely not as pretty as she was. And don't "she aged, she went through blah blah". It's a FICTIONAL VIDEO GAME CHARACTER. They could make her look HOWEVER THEY WANT. They CHOSE this look intentionally. For better or worse, they MADE this design. It's not a real human.
They could make her look however they wanted but they decided to keep the realism. People age and what's more important - being the Witcher is the last job you choose if you want to look nice and live a comfortable life. It's good that you can't smell the character because after fighting some ghouls she wouldn't smell nice.
Objectively? Dang man. I disagree with you. I think she looks hot. Listen. I agree that western developers are making woman less attractive on purpose but I don’t see it in this case. Does Ciri look different. Yes. Two reasons. She a witcher and it’s a CGI trailer. Look at Witcher 3 CGI trailer. Geralt looks different. Especially on the face. People need to relax a little. If your concern with her being a Witcher? Sure. That’s a problem but I will also give them a chance to see how it plays out.
Tell me you've never read the witcher books without telling me you've never read the witcher books!😂 If Ciri has become a real Witcher, then I think it's only natural that she looks the way she does. Before Henry Cavil, Witchers were depicted as ugly and scary, near monsters themselves. Also, Ciri's not even that bad looking compared to how Geralt was described in the books! My guess is that most of this outrage is just click baiting. As a real witcher fan, I'm hyped for this!❤
Lmao, people forgot that Witcher 3 VGX trailer had geralt with weird face, because when they launched in game engine trailer, they still didn't finish Geralt face model at the time. Also Geralt face changes in each trailer, and in game he looks nothing like in night to remember...
@@bannedmann4469 Why not? It's common that faces changes before release. Same how Arthur Morgan face in RDR2 trailer was bit different and more "botoxed" than in release version, which was explained by Roger Clark that creative differences occured during like at the end of production, so they slimmed Arthur face before release.. Concepts will change. Geralt had 3 different faces, one for each game. Same will probably happen with Lucia for GTA VI, her face will be upgraded before game releases, and same might happen with Ciri, even tho she looks just like Ciri from w3, but older.
I'll be honest. I didn't like the BS BioWare pulled with Veilguard with regards to the over the top pushing of non-binary stuff into the game. So I got the annoyance/outrage over that game. But in this case, it just seems like rage baiting for the sake of hits. There's nothing wrong with Ciri's look, nor is there anything wrong with her as the lead character. Anyone who played TW3 could pretty much see that's where the next game was heading. So this outrage seems contrived in order to make more videos that attract the "anti-woke" crowd.
Even Chatgpt recognize that she has been masculinized if you feed it a picture from w3 vs w4. Even if its just a tiny bit, it matter a lot in today day and age where signs like this are often just the top of an iceberg of wokeness.
Yeah, i dont get the " ugly" comments. She's far from it, but i will say she comes across more serious in the trailer. I hope the game still has its charm
These people would be alot more believable if 99% of the things they cry about weren't debunkable. Lore wise, I understand the surprise so I'm intrigued with the reason why Ciri went through the trial.
Anyone who is bothered by the direction The Witcher has taken hasn't played the games or read the books. all the criticisms they are making are arguments that are refuted in the first book... they didn't even bother to read that... people instead of researching so as not to talk nonsense, they come out blabbering, people who don't know anything about the lore of the universe and want to give their opinion... and about the game being for new audiences, the director explained in ALL the interviews in recent days, what he meant is that this triology will address the origin of Ciri as a witcher, therefore it is an excellent entrance door for newbies. You don't need to read all the books and play the complete triology to have a good experience with the game, will it be inferior to those who know the hole story behind it? Naturally yes, but both can enjoy it. People see woke in everything, you can't have a female protagonist without dumb people saying the game is woke... and about people who think she is ugly, Ciri is FEMALE, she is not a waifu of those hentais that you spend the morning paying homage to LOL. you guys need to read the books and stop thinking that everything with a woman is woke.
Disappointed. When I play as a Witcher slicing up monsters I I personally want to play as Geralt or someone like Geralt. Not a 100lb girl. No thanks. The Witcher 3 was one of the best games ever made. This is, IMHO, going to be trash.
it was a chance to make a game with a difffere,nt gameplay since a woman CANT fight like a man against monster, there is no way Ciri could have the same power than gerald so she cant realisticaly goes toes to toes physicaly against monsters.
So you're saying the Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever, in which the story revolves around Ciri and that one of its main endings is Ciri becoming a witcher AND that this specific ending is the fan favorite. Ciri who have the elder blood, is the most OP character in the Witcher universe and was trained as a witcher since her childhood. On a side note, the fighting style of the school of the cat suits her better, they're light and nimble fighters. For years she carried with her a cat medallion and her new medallion is one of the lynx, which is a feline. But you can't picture her fighting monsters as a witcher 😂😂
Honestly, this feels like the initial vocal minority voices that happened with Ghost of Yotei trailer. people called it woke, but then it died down because most people didn't take it seriously. from what im seeing, the reactions to Witcher 4 is similar to that, the general reception is mostly positive from people, and they're all excited. I personally think Ciri looks great in the trailer. doesn't feel like they intentionally went out of their way to "teach the chuds a lesson about realisitic beauty standards" or some bullshit like that. So, I think we can all calm down a bit and let this stupid "controversy" die down naturally as most normal people refuse to take this seriously. Naughty dog's Intergalactic trailer on the other hand... i don't see a lot of positive stuff being talked about that in most circles tbh. I personally have nothing against it, and as a Naughty dog game, I think it will still make a lot of money regardless.
Not a lot was shown for intergalactic for me to get excited or concerned. It fall flat for me. If it didn’t have naughty dogs name to it. I would said pass. I do hope the game turns out great. I love they are trying something new. That’s commandable.
While I do agree that Ciri's look is fine (at least for now....), I don't blame a good chunk of them for making such a reaction. Some studios have been guilty of uglifying female protagonists (which is especially bizarre to me when they do it to real actress's face scans. What's the point of even paying for the faces if that's the intention? Just handcraft it) in the most ridiculous manner for the weakest of reasons. It's especially bad when male characters, especially face scanned ones, remain untouched (looking at you Mass Effect Andomeda). Some are definitely trolling, and some are overreacting. Gotta wait for the actual Ingame look before you give a real verdict. Personally, I don't need female protagonists to be super hot (bonus points if they are) to enjoy a game, but does bother me when when they look really bizarre or it's done to characters that have always been traditionally known to be beautiful and suddenly, 👹. When even women start complaining about it, you know it's bad.
I don't see it , i think people that complain how Ciri looks needs to visit eye doctor .Anyway Geralt looked like homeless crack addicts in the first trailer for the witcher 3 .I am more worried about how they are going to turn her into a witcher because that could break or make her character right from the start
I'm sure this game will be great. Personally can't wait for end game when Ciri and Yennefer join and have a love Witcher who targets the villagers who have been oppressing the monsters.
It looks good pushing back against the "no ugly women" arguments but really this is not it. Anyone who actually follows the series would have seen how weird/different Geralt looked in the Wild Hunt CG trailers, not only that they also prove the bs that I've seen a few times now of Ciri being sexist and man hating for calling the villager a monster is wrong as Geralt also calls a man a monster in the trailer. The main issue is that Ciri will become a Witcher during the game, unless CDPR have unknown knowledge the author never shared they have gone full Netflix and said fuck the lore. To be clear, Ciri will most likely look way better in game, Geralt certainly did. Ciri being the main character is a good thing, I myself was hoping she would be however CDPR have admitted they're going for the ever ellusive modern audience so we can't assume anything good will come from this. Ciri is also not sexist, at least in that trailer, she is telling it like is.
She s looking awesome! older and stronger. Anti woke sells these days so content creators are trying to get as much view as possible beyond naughty dog's game reveal.
Ciri’s narrative exists solely to frame Geralt’s humanity, a mirror for his patriarchal, fatherly archetype-a supporting role rather than a truly independent character. The fix seems obvious: take a page from Larian's playbook in BG3, offering origin characters alongside a customizable protagonist. Sounds straightforward, right? But execution requires real skill-a quality sometimes overshadowed in modern game development by prioritizing box-checking over raw talent... (something gay devs lack). 1.The Witcher mean Male Witch. "er" is a masculine suffix. 2. No female being a Witcher. 3. Ciri is too old for the trial. 4. She already has her own power set. Her doing signs don't make any sense because Geralt and co tried to teach her and she could never do it. She also can teleport but in the trailer she can't. 5. This game breaking the lore. 6. This Ciri is just DEI Geralt
@TheFLAMEXD My problem transcends consumption for fun in these matters... I wonder ... Is Ciri destined to be the moral crusader of *The Witcher* world-calling out every instance of racism, dueling every injustice, and defying every established social order? Will she wield her sword and elder blood as a champion of causes that, by nature, lie beyond the traditionally indifferent role of a witcher? Or will she embrace the path of a true witcher-walking the neutral line, killing monsters for coin, and shedding the ideals of her royal upbringing, even if that means stepping out of her own skin as *Ciri*? It’s a fascinating tension: the "real witcher" archetype demands stoic detachment, but that’s *precisely* what seems so alien to Ciri's character. Unlike Geralt, who was shaped by the Path and wears neutrality like battered armor, Ciri’s sense of identity was forged in chaos-by trauma, by her lineage, and by her yearning to belong to something greater than fate’s cruelty. She cannot be *just* a witcher. Nor can she ever truly sever her connection to who she was before she picked up a sword. Which makes me wonder: how would she have handled the Bloody Baron in Geralt’s stead? Would her actions echo Geralt's pragmatic patience, listening to the Baron’s broken confession and navigating his messy redemption arc with a witcher’s trademark neutrality? Or would Ciri-fiery, indignant Ciri-lash out at the Baron’s failures, shaking the very foundations of his fragile reckoning? Perhaps that’s the rub: where Geralt acts as a mirror to the world, Ciri is often a catalyst for change. She *is* the storm, after all. Her struggle will always be between following the Path of the witcher and honoring the fierce, empathetic part of her that refuses to let the world’s injustices go unchallenged. Whether that’s her strength or her downfall depends on how the story chooses to wield her.
Luke, I’m sure your wife’s boyfriend will admit Ciri looks worse. You’re shilling to the max man. Come on. You’ve always seemed smarter and more self aware than this. It’s not just gooners, men want to play as cool attractive male protagonists as well. So that argument doesn’t work.
I also can’t understand anyone saying she ugly. Fable, Alloy, sure a little bit. Ciri. Nope. She looks great and beautiful. Plus it’s CGI. Her character will look slightly different. Maybe I’m biased since I love her new design.
While I personally will reserve judgement, there are a few very obvious modifications to the face modelling: - more pronounced bone structure around the eye sockets - her eyebrows are gone - her chin is much bigger - there are frames when you can see the side of her face and her chin is of a comic book Joker-esque size - her jawline is much more pronounced - the overall design is objectively less feminine / soft But besides that, her VA is different and she is of a noticeably lower quality; either that or the VO director is awful (which I doubt, since the rest of the VA performances in the trailer are good).-- that's an even bigger concern for me. I'll be very cautious with this one, but I have low expectations, given the DEI mess that is on their website, that the studio head stupidly denied for a while.
You can't deny that western developers in the last decade are shamelessly uglyfying women overall. Beauty is on a spectrum but some sequels are borderline downgrades! HOWEVER, Idon't see anything wrong with this Ciri version. Maybe the angles weren't the most flattering but c'mon she's still THE LADY OF SPACE AND TIME
The only thing that matters is sales rage bait or not. I would not be surprised if CDPR changed Ciri's face so she looks more like the old Ciri. I think Ciri looks ok but I think they will change her face like Bioware changed Peebee's looks in Mass Effect Andromeda. The anti-woke coalition will make it hard on CDPR. I think they will have an impact on game sales .Whither they should or not is another question.
I think the character model is great, it just doesn’t look like the series from Witcher three. Like the cheek scar is the identifier to show you. It’s the same person. Otherwise, if the cheek scar was not there, you’d expect this to be potentially another character. On the side of things it’s more the potential for broken lore. I’m not sure if you know, but the owner of Black rock has said they’re planning on forcing ideologies through different means. They give loans to gaming companies with checklist for disabled, different braces, male female, and the alphabet check boxes so it is a real thing where these ideologies are sort of pushed out there, is it in everything no. Is it out there enough where you should have a guard up a little, yes. All that aside I had goosebumps and was freaking out with the idea of finally seeing a new Witcher game. It looks incredible, and I love the lesser of two evilschoices. That’s something the Witcher always did well as I’m doing another play through and seeing small dialogue changes even after putting 300 hours into that game lol. OK rant over ciao
Im not trolling when i say that they made ciri look like a rude af former co-worker of mine who upon meeting me immediately said i look like a kidnapper to my face. If i was the type of guy to doxx her, you would see how ugly they made ciri to my eyes. I wont buy it until beautification mods come out along with glowing user reviews
She gained the chad chin. People saying she looks just old or the same are dillusional. It's so blatantly obvious and CDPR was always for this kind on stuff.
Dunno what speel was thrown at poor Ciri but she didnt exactly age like wine, im just surprised she lost her prettiness, and im always skeptical when it comes to games you should try it. But maybe that is ragebaiting now.
To be fair, if she went through the trial of the grasses and it's only been a few years, then she would still look young. Because Witchers age slow.
geralt is 99 in tw3
From what I remember, everyone including herself was against her going through the trials as she didn't need them to do the job. Maybr I'm remembering wrong but she was already plenty capable, and geralt and vesemir both were against it right.

This kind of non-sequitur dissmal worked ten years ago on pliable people, but it's just tiresome now.
@@Galow311 He's one of those people defending the poor wahman because it's trendy amongst Gen-Z and Genm-A to being against pattern recognition.

Weren't the Zerakanains Witcher's equivalent of either black or Middle Eastern?
But there is a lesson to take from this from our fellow Witcher:
"Evil is evil.
She's apparently not much older here, though. I've read that they said she's only a few years older or so, so this apparently isn't like 15 years later, as some people think. With this in mind, I would think she'd look closer to her TW3 model.

But ugly i dont think she is..looks great 4 the game
I noticed a change in her face and she has a new voice. I can look past the face part, we'll see about the voice later.
Lol yes you will
I didnt really notice the look at all, I noticed that they turned her into discount geralt and pretty much disregarded the endings of 3 by having her chugging potions like she went through the mutations (against the advice of literally every other character) and forgot that she is in fact, an interdimensional space witch.

I mean maybe you could argue she would do it to feel closer to geralt but idk about that.

Personally, I'm cautiously excited and will postpone any serious judgment until I see some gameplay footage and story details.
she looks great and no Ciri being a Witcher doesnt break the lore since she isnt a normal woman.
Fanboy bots…
people are just fedup with the woke garbage we've been showered the last 10 years so they bit back now
The backlash on her looks is dumb really dumb...the backlash because of the lore break I am completely agreeing with. That is the real issue
As for the rest tbh I did find her cool all in all so not an issue in my book
She does look older, late 30's plus. She been through rite to become a witcher, slow aging etc she could be 60 at this point. I do hope she starts off without going through trail of grass and the player has to start at 0, alone and monsters in numbers like the ancient times. She is settling a new school. Then you can design your own witcher in the next game. Oh too dream.
I would really like to see how the Gamers calling this CGI character from a teaser trailer ugly look like themselves. How is this woman ugly? These people don't leave their rooms and have never been touched by a woman in their lives.
yeah exactly, there's not one frame in that trailer that makes her ugly. Perhaps they mean she should be fighting with showing cleavage?

In my honest opinion, she just looks a lot older. I'm curious as to how much time has past. CDPR should provide some context here. Also, I believe this has to do with inconsistent CGI because some frames look really good while others do not. It's a lighting thing. Mainly her eyes just look off.
A lot older? She looks maybe 30 here. Probably only 10 years have passed.

COPE RETRD
@chupamaroc2545 lol we'll cope by not buying the game
"She's objectively less attractive.
Not ugly, but definitely not as pretty as she was." nope.
They could make her look however they wanted but they decided to keep the realism. People age and what's more important - being the Witcher is the last job you choose if you want to look nice and live a comfortable life. It's good that you can't smell the character because after fighting some ghouls she wouldn't smell nice.
of course this is intentional, its the trend today, men are toxic, good looking woman are toxic and so on...
I barely notice any differences. She's a little rounder I guess? but other than she look older I don't see anything that different
Sure, why with the same mistakes many years later though?
@@bannedmann4469 Why not? It's common that faces changes before release. Same how Arthur Morgan face in RDR2 trailer was bit different and more "botoxed" than in release version, which was explained by Roger Clark that creative differences occured during like at the end of production, so they slimmed Arthur face before release..
Concepts will change. Geralt had 3 different faces, one for each game. Same will probably happen with Lucia for GTA VI, her face will be upgraded before game releases, and same might happen with Ciri, even tho she looks just like Ciri from w3, but older.
Ahhh i love the denial from content creators or better focusing on the wrong problem that game have or may have
Luke trying to get that early access
I'll be honest. I didn't like the BS BioWare pulled with Veilguard with regards to the over the top pushing of non-binary stuff into the game. So I got the annoyance/outrage over that game. But in this case, it just seems like rage baiting for the sake of hits.
There's nothing wrong with Ciri's look, nor is there anything wrong with her as the lead character. Anyone who played TW3 could pretty much see that's where the next game was heading. So this outrage seems contrived in order to make more videos that attract the "anti-woke" crowd.
Ah, the boy who cried "Woke".
Anyone who cries “woke” is automatically ignored at this point 😂

Even Chatgpt recognize that she has been masculinized if you feed it a picture from w3 vs w4. Even if its just a tiny bit, it matter a lot in today day and age where signs like this are often just the top of an iceberg of wokeness.
If you're trusting ChatGPT of all things, I seriously worry for your mental health.
People have an agenda now
People have always had agendas since humanity was established.
People see woke in everything, you can't have a female protagonist without dumb people saying the game is woke... and about people who think she is ugly, Ciri is FEMALE, she is not a waifu of those hentais that you spend the morning paying homage to LOL. you guys need to read the books and stop thinking that everything with a woman is woke.
played all the games, read all the books and I'm worried all right
Disappointed.
You didn't even play The Witcher 3, did you?
@@ZrodyApo Those are facts over feelings.
@@ZrodyApo Yea good point. I edited my comment.
I don't see it , i think people that complain how Ciri looks needs to visit eye doctor .Anyway Geralt looked like homeless crack addicts in the first trailer for the witcher 3 .I am more worried about how they are going to turn her into a witcher because that could break or make her character right from the start
this trailer is different, its no CGI, its ingame engine
Are we sure it’s ciri? I thought it was just a female Witcher. I completed Witcher 3 a few times and didn’t even know this was meant to be ciri🤔
If you look at the scar and her eyemakeup, then I would think it's her
She s looking awesome! older and stronger. Anti woke sells these days so content creators are trying to get as much view as possible beyond naughty dog's game reveal.
Dude she looks as if Shrek is her father
No, Ciri is just as much the main character as Geralt is. Don't cry about "breaking the lore" when you don't even know anything about The Witcher.
@TheFLAMEXD
My problem transcends consumption for fun in these matters...
@@gengiskhal2366Dude, stop overanalysing and misinterpreting everything.

No.
Ciri was set up to be the protagonist after Geralt in Witcher 3. Just stop trying to join in this argument when you know nothing about The Witcher.
Gamers realizing for the first time that women actually age.
Video game characters don't age, they aren't real
I also can’t understand anyone saying she ugly. Fable, Alloy, sure a little bit. Ciri. Nope. She looks great and beautiful. Plus it’s CGI. Her character will look slightly different.
Maybe I’m biased since I love her new design.
While I personally will reserve judgement, there are a few very obvious modifications to the face modelling:
- more pronounced bone structure around the eye sockets
- her eyebrows are gone
- her chin is much bigger - there are frames when you can see the side of her face and her chin is of a comic book Joker-esque size
- her jawline is much more pronounced
- the overall design is objectively less feminine / soft
But besides that, her VA is different and she is of a noticeably lower quality; either that or the VO director is awful (which I doubt, since the rest of the VA performances in the trailer are good).-- that's an even bigger concern for me.
Maybe the angles weren't the most flattering but c'mon she's still THE LADY OF SPACE AND TIME
Beauty's subjective, though. What's ugly to you is beautiful to someone else.
She looks like she had botox. Not horrible but not great
Isn't CDPR involved with Sweet Baby Inc though?
