You guys are FEARLESS!!!! Wow! Even though I knew everyone was okay, I was holding my breath watch you on the side of the glacier. I would have been in tears just like your aunt when I returned to a flat surface. Okay, I just told a big lie. I don't think I would have had the courage to leave a flat surface. The footage you saved was awesome. The memories and stories you will be able to tell your grandchildren some day. Every time a coworker wonders why I love RVing so much I just send them the link to the GoneWiththeWynns TH-cam channel. What an amazing adventure and thanks for sharing your fearless journey.
You are both a total inspiration! We Rv as a family and are always trying new things and having adventures together...it's all about making memories that count!
My friends & I did some crazy stuff on Mendenhall Glacier 30 years ago, tubing down some steep slopes. There's NO WAY I'd go down into a crevasse! Your video made me nauseous when you were looking down. Ugh. Glad you had knowledgeable guides & lots of safety gear. That's an experience you'll never forget. I'm sure every muscle in your body ached the next day. Great video!
insight: (my wife and I are watching these totally out of order for the most part)....but we are jonesing for some of dat Alaska! I mentioned this before, watching other vids to prepare for our own adventures etc.....obviously nothing compares to the real deal but you 2 are the only ones that make us really feel we are truly experiencing it right along with you. Very very awesome! As always, keep being you. Much thx.
if you are jonesing for alaska checkout Dudelikehella hes a california vlogger who moved up here and shares his experience..im thinking i need to do a real alaskan vlog cause people need the real story on Alaska not some out of staters perspective..we do a lot of different things that the tourists dont know about..we have our own gear so we dont hire guides to do this stuff.. alaskans are for the most part gear junkies with a different style than these vloggers who are more or less tourists..
Going back through these older videos, and I realized how you guys used the same background music more than once. There's something warmly familiar about that, almost like there's a GwtW soundtrack. Love it.
Awesome, so impressive there are no words to tell you how daring and wonderful I think you all are. Don't worry about the footage you lost for all of the people that watch your videos because this was exciting and wonderful to see thank you so much
The Harding Ice Fields are pretty awesome to see...we trekked to the top of the mountain saw bear, Mount sheep, goats...really the best hike ever. Lived in Alaska 16 years.
I actually like the way this video feels. It does feel more personal and not so commercial is the best way I can describe it. Not meaning that in a rude way at all. It's just cool to see yalls reactions right then. Just didn't seem as scripted. Keep up the good work!
I have a similar terrible experience to help you guys not feel so bad. When I got married we took a lot of pictures. Then I asked my mom to hold the camera and take some shots of men my wife. She must've not known what she was doing and pressing the wrong buttons and the camera must of asked do you want to delete these files yes or no? Mom thought she was still taking a picture and press the enter button and deleted all the wedding pictures. Fortunately my aunt took pictures of the ceremony but she holds her camera somewhat sideways. Needless to say I feel your pain as well. I give you guys credit for being professional and running 3 cameras. Sometimes it's a hassle trying to enjoy your vacation and film it at the same time
WHEN WIFE & I GOT MARRIED WE DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY 4 A REAL PHOTO PERSON SO I HAD 3 OTHER FRIENDS TAKING PIC'S & 1 OF THOSE ALL HE TOOK WAS PIC'S OF THE GROUND & NOT EVEN A SHOE IT WAS ALL GRASS IN EVERY PHOTO I'm sorry wasn't yelling as hey say 2 lazy 2 redo
Man, that's gorgeous! I have overwritten footage accidentally SO MANY TIMES! I need a better system. I'd love a video of how you keep track of all your media. The video turned out just fine, but what a bummer to miss your Aunt's moment. I can totally relate to the added work of filming an experience and how it takes a little bit away from the experience. Thank you for filming and sharing your adventures with us! Good to know about Sony's naming system too. My new Sony should be here early next week, and I'm used to GoPro and Panasonic's file system, where they never use the same number twice (unless you want to dig deep in the settings and totally reset it on the camera).
Really great stuff guysI thought that footage you had was really great. The way you put it all together was awesome.Maybe it was not what you wanted,I thought it was so thrilling that if the lost footage was any better My heart couldnt stand it..You Guys Rock!
Niki is amazing. She reminds me so much of my oldest daughter. Afraid to try nothing. Niki must be an old high school/college cheer leader/valedictorian. Just amazing, your mother also. You have a great family. Let's not forget your aunt. Cheers folks, Jim in CA. Republican
WOW, amazing adventure. We're planning on doing this when we get to Alaska. Thanks for sharing. By the way, the video turned out great despite your footage loss! We'll subscribe and keep up with your adventures!
WOW!! That was really cool! I did go repelling once years ago but it was NOTHING like that! That had to be a huge adrenaline rush. Just the fact that it's ice... one slip and you plummet to your death... LOL Thanks for the adventure. The lost footage is a bummer but you're right, it made for a great headline!!! Glad you're safe!!!
no way... not for me, I will sit up the top and watch, I dont do well on adrenaline.. I got anxious just watching, reminding myself you made it out. yes I love a challenge, a little less adrenaline tho.. it did look amazing, a place I will never get to visit, but im happy seeing it through your eyes.. ✨✨💜🙏
I'm thinking of doing this challenge or doing one of the hikes, like the one to the top of the glacier, but haven't decided. And I'm from New York so you know we don't have glaciers here.
BTW you are not alone. I have been involved in sport fishing and photography my entire adult life. Years ago I finally convinced my wife to go on a tag and release Mako shark trip. She hooked a giant and fought it hard all the while I photographed with an empty camera. Film didn't go on the take up spool and being excited in the moment I didn't check until the fish was released. It happens
This looked crazy amazing!!! Not to be rude or come off nosey but how much did it cost to take that tour? I have a family of four and would love to add this to a bucket list! And is there an age limit?! Thanks!! I really love your lifestyle! My family and I are thinking of trying this one day but are very scared of how we would pay the bills and afford trips/adventures like this one! Good Luck on everything!!
+Sharon Chavis Merritt I can't remember the cost, it was pricey but not crazy! They said they've had younger kids before but they must "vet" them first to make sure they are capable.
I had a similar experience taking bison pictures 3 weeks ago in the fact of taking over a 100 pictures of a small guy looking & interacting with me. I later I found out I did not have a card in my new camera. I talked to myself all the way from Cheyenne, WY back to Fort Collins, CO. I changed the settings so it would not happen again!!!!!
There's no evidence that global warming is increasing the speed of this glacier's melt. You can see the signs in the park going back 150 years and it has been melting rapidly all this time, long before cars and modern industry. Of course it has been melting *since the last ice age* and this has nothing to do with humans. Thanks for the cool video and glad you stayed safe!
Is that the same glacier that Chris Travels and his friend were at for the gold mine? It looks like it could be. :) As for the "I mean WE" nope nope, he already admitted it was all him. :) Y'all are great

Cute video. Just as a heads up though, a lot of people will think much worse than lost footage when you put "tragic mistake" next to "ice climbing". Maybe "unfortunate mishap" would be better. :) I'm sorry you lost your footage. I'm glad no one died.
Just think both poles were lush moderate temperate zones before the great flood. Some general information reflects this but I don't agree with the eons of time offered: www.theguardian.com/world/2011/jul/17/antarctica-tropical-climate-co2-research

Epic family adventure you will talk about years from now.
What Fun!
I love how you keep your priorities straight there at the end!
Thanks, and Happy Camping!

Looks like such an awesome time. To cold for me but sweet seeing you guys do it. I look forward to the next video, safe travels.
WOW!!!! Beautiful...Thanks for sharing
You may have lost some footage, But what you have is AWSOME !!!!! Thanks, really enjoyed your trip to Alaska so far.
What can you say but AWESOME!
Beautiful and exciting, kept me on the edge of my seat !

So cool! Not for me, but am glad you did it and shared.
Not sure what footage you lost, but this video was great! You folks are a lot braver than I am!
Looks like a great adventure
I enjoyed watching that so much.
This is my dream !! Hopefully the summer of 2019 I can go to Alaska !!
WOW!! That was really cool! I did go repelling once years ago but it was NOTHING like that! That had to be a huge adrenaline rush. I understand did the same thing myself on a once a year trip. Lost almost all of the footage. Really bummed me out :-( Your saved footage was great.
Wow....that was amazing !!!
+MSScalzi Thank you for sharing too
I now have so much more respect for my grandpa who rescued people off mt. hood in Oregon until he was 75.
Seriously. Amazing. Thanks for sharing. PS - Jason's mom looks like she could be his sister!
Cool views but I would be too worried about an ice ledge breaking off and taking me down. Yikes!
This is so awesome!!!!! Way to go guys!
+Ctrl Alt Dreamers Thanks :)
that looked awesome
Awesome wish I was there
terrifyingly crazy. oh you two!
no way... not for me, I will sit up the top and watch, I dont do well on adrenaline..

As long as you and your family are safe and sound...
That's so rad!!

+Traveller oh man, it's such a horrible feeling :)
Great Video Guys! :)
Dang, after that crevasse experience, sailing across the Pacific must have been a walk in the park.
GOD loves a fearless woman. Go Nikki. That looked like so much fun and like a hard days work all rolled up into one.
if youre in Seward, go see Chris Travels and G!
Awesome!

Sony's protocol should add one step "Do you really want to replace?"
I feel your pain. I left my card in San Francisco...
Jesus!
i am feeling scared watching you people doing all this!
I had a similar experience taking bison pictures 3 weeks ago in the fact of taking over a 100 pictures of a small guy looking & interacting with me. +Wayne's RV The glacier by the mine is here: www.gonewiththewynns.com/glacier-hike-mccarthy-alaska
Yeah that one was awesome also. :) Wrong mine though. Then again, it's Alaska, and there are probably 50 million mine spots there. hehe
FUN FUN FUN
With which tour company did you go with?

+mypetlesbian I guess "Tragic" can be read in many ways :)
There's no way I'd do that! Lol
Why is it unlisted?
+Going NoWhereFast Sometimes we go live with our website first to give our subscribers a sneak peek.
haha rappelling and being lowered are not the same..lol
i have the same petzal ice picks..

Do you still live in Alaska?
We were only visiting for the summer.
