I love how you two are always so happy, not weighed down with the burdens of a house and a 9-5 job drudgery!! you have a very carefree lifestyle, and I love it! I am quite jealous that you guys are in my old stomping grounds! I am sorry I left, but I had to find my own way outside of ak, as most of my old friends have done also. I wish there were more jobs up there in my field, I would leave tomorrow!!! Thank you for this video, last time I saw the glacier in the 80's it was up by the visitor center parking lot!! When I went back in 2013, and 2014, there was nothing to see. Well, thanks again and you two keep having fun!!!
So beautiful. Glad you put the time on the screen to show how long summer days are up north. I know how hard it is to capture the blue in the icebergs on film/video. No matter what you do, it never looks as good as it does in person. You really have to see it in person. Funny you mentioned putting the ice in your cocktail. They used to fly glacier ice to Japan & serve it in drinks at the fancier bars. It pops as it cracks in your drink. Really "cool" stuff. Thanks for taking us along.
You guys are a great couple, enjoying living vicariously through you and your trips. I hope both your trips and marriage last forever! Keep the videos coming, hoping to join the RV lifestyle in 2 years or less...well that's the plan anyway.
You people have great days most days, seems like to me. I must thank-you for sharing your travels with the rest of us. I may never go to all the spots where you have been but , now I have seen them through your videos almost as good . so again Thank you, and have a wonderful day
great vlog, thanks for sharing the Glaciers with us. We love to see how blue they are and how blue the water is, wow no chemicals interfering with them yet.
I found your channel about a month ago and WOW! I'm so envious. Thank you so much for sharing. I'll never have that chance. Please keep posting. Love you both.
honestly, I think that must be one of the best things ive seen in a while... ✨✨✨✨✨ you two are crazy, but dont stop because its brilliantly entertaining..
Living vicariously through these videos - they're amazing thank you for sharing your travels with us. I'm so glad Alfie Deyes gave you guys a shout out.
You guys are nuts! Have you seen the size of the waves that callings create! If you end up in that freezing water it would be a dangerous situation. Search Tasman glacier calving on you tube and you'll see where I used to work. Pretty amazing though guys! I wouldn't recommend it to others though 😊
+Andy Cleverley we were prepared and talked with the rangers before going on this trip. Our dry bad did have what we needed should we fall in...we have taken water safety classes geared for Alaska and were prepared to handle ourselves.
Epic, indeed. This is one of the coolest videos y'all have posted. Looks like you have an inflatable paddle board, which is easy to store in the RV. You might consider a Folbot folding kayak. I would love to do this adventure with my wife in a canoe. A square back canoe, with a 52 lb. thrust electric trolling motor, and two deep cycle marine batteries. One battery to get you there, and one to get you back. Paddles, of course, just in case. Thanks for the work you put into producing this quality video. Good Vibrations!
You two are crazy that was a long paddle over and back. Can you believe that when I was a kid back in the early 70's the Glacier came all the way to where the Begich Boggs visitors center is now. We used to climb right up on the ice right by the parking area. I also went to school with the Two Begich boys, Nick and Mark at Romig Jr. High and West Anchorage High School . Looks like you two had fun! Glad you didn't fall in. There have been a few people who have drown in that like trying to get across it and the winds came up and capsized there boats and they died of hypothermia. Nice video!
Currently binge watching your Alaska playlist😋 this is making me SO excited for my roadtrip there this summer and all the kayaking opportunities with my pup!
WOW! Awesome scenery I'm sure it was way cooler actually being there... I just kept thinking that if you fell in it would have been a long cold day.... Great vid. thanks for the experience!!
Oh my goodness! What an video :) :) I swear I live through you two. You guys do things I would never have thought about doing. My scary, play-it-safe nerd butt would need a big boat. Not you two - paddle board right up to the glaciers. AMAZING! WONDERFUL!!! Jason listen to Nikki about the boots next time :) Excellent video!
I lived there for 6 years - I went there for university. It was so beautiful! Wish they would have had paddle boards back then. Thank you for sharing! BTW how cold where your feet at the end!! LOL!
I lived in Anchorage for almost 20 years and never ever heard of anyone ever taking any kind of boat or paddle board etc onto Portage Lake. The tour boat is the only thing I’ve ever seen on the lake.
when i was a kid we would stop by there and get chunks of ice for fishing on the keni river to keep the fish cold. but then the glacier was almost in the parking lot .
Another great video. Beautiful scenery! I apologize if you've already covered this topic, but have you ever had any security concerns in reference to leaving your RV in some of the places you have (break-ins, theft, etc.)?
I don't know anything about paddleboarding, but it *looks* like you're basically sitting on a board that is getting splashed with icy water. Isn't it *freezing*?!
+Dan Rabinowitz The sun was out and it was a nice day so it was really nice. We did have on waterproof pants but if the weather wasn't that nice, we would have worn our suits.
+Alastair Ingram we were prepared and talked with the rangers before going on this trip. Our dry bad did have what we needed should we fall in plus we have taken water safety classes geared for Alaska and were prepared to handle ourselves.
Gone with the Wynns, even after taking water safety classes, you’re not wearing PFDs. You’re supposed to wear them, not take them for a ride. I’m a canoe instructor and have seen some disastrous results when people fall into cold water....too late to get your life jacket on if it’s laying on the boat.
I've never used a SUP... it looks so easy to fall in. How would you compare it to a Canoe or Kayak? I know, neither one of those would roll up and fit under the RV.
+elfaroproductions It was loads of fun and you could easily rent a dry suit if you were worried. we were prepared and talked with the rangers before going on this trip. Our dry bad did have what we needed should we fall in and we've taken water safety classes geared for Alaska and were prepared to handle ourselves.
Another great video...I guess if you fell in the water would be extremely cold...did you stay close to the shore ? Also is your board an inflatable board or a solid one ? Thank you
+stew tube Our board is inflatable and we talk about our setup in the post (link is always in the info box). www.gonewiththewynns.com/portage-glacier-paddle-whittier-alaska-free
Not sure you two realized that flippin the board could mean death within 10min, saw plenty of spot where you were more than 10min swim away from shore, 2nd that board isnt made for two, 3nd doubt your safety gears in that drybag would have suffice to warm you fast enough if you reached shore in time, please be more careful
+Mathieu Bouvier we were prepared and talked with the rangers before going on this trip. Thanks for the concern but just to put your mind at ease...The board is made for two and can hold more than our weight. Our dry bad did have what we needed should we fall in...we have taken water safety classes geared for Alaska and were prepared to handle ourselves.
Great adventure, and I think you were brave too! I would be so cold and wet falling in that water. What was the water temp in that lake (saw you were barefooted)? Tfs!
Beautiful video. Couple of Q's.. Was there noise at the glacier, aside from the water draining out? (You may have addressed that but my audio was acting up.) And..what was the water temp? Keep up the good work!
You two are so very lucky to have met. Ability to share and like the same wonderful experiences is indeed a rare find.
So beautiful! Any of those icebergs would make a world class sculpture. And there they are, floating by.
I love how you two are always so happy, not weighed down with the burdens of a house and a 9-5 job drudgery!! you have a very carefree lifestyle, and I love it! Thanks for taking us along.
they serve it here in drinks..theres a guy with a permit to harvest ice for bars to use..also permafrost vodka uses glacier ice for their vodka
You guys are a great couple, enjoying living vicariously through you and your trips. I hope both your trips and marriage last forever! Keep the videos coming, hoping to join the RV lifestyle in 2 years or less...well that's the plan anyway.

Awesome! Were a little more inclined towards warmer water but would probably jump at that opportunity as well! Great job.
This was absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for taking me along and not making me paddle. I have to say, my feet were cold just watching!
Awesome views. Thanks for letting us tag along!!
Lovely video. I wouldn't have the nerve to make that trip on such a small vessel. Well done.
great vlog, thanks for sharing the Glaciers with us. We love to see how blue they are and how blue the water is, wow no chemicals interfering with them yet.
+trucking108 gmail They are amazing and way cooler in person (pun intended). Get out there to see them if you can!
I found your channel about a month ago and WOW! I'm so envious. Thank you so much for sharing. I'll never have that chance. Please keep posting. Love you both.
But seriously. Amazing. Can't wait to go.
OMG! Even having been there I am still blown away by the beauty of Alaska! Thanks for the video - Great as always!
honestly, I think that must be one of the best things ive seen in a while... ✨✨✨✨✨

I thoroughly enjoyed that video. Thank you so much for sharing your day from the Alaska trip.
Wow, that looked awesome!
That looks like so much fun!!! Awesome!
Amazing....Loved the view... Thanks for sharing this adventure.
Thank you, thank you. I am definitely taking my kayak and stopping there when I go.
Thanks for sharing that experience!
What a lovely ride. Thank you for sharing!
All your videos are great, but this was an awesome adventure and I didn't even get cold or wet ;)

+Allen Hare Thanks Allen.
Now that was cool. Wish I could do stuff like that. Keep those videos coming.

Wow!
So glad to find this video, I kayaked the same route but somehow lost all video and most pictures. From beginning to end was like deja vu!
Another epic adventure I'll have to add to my list. Great Video!
Omg this is soooo beautiful! Great video as always you two!
+Kristen Sarah Thanks!
Your videos rock! But I have to say, this one is one of my favorites.
Amazing! I miss Alaska in the summer. Good stuff guys.
Thanks for sharing your journey ...
looks like you had nice weather
Nikki, we share a love of sunglasses!
There's always room for another pair of sunglasses.
Breathtaking, thank you
Currently binge watching your Alaska playlist😋 this is making me SO excited for my roadtrip there this summer and all the kayaking opportunities with my pup!
Enjoy & safe travels!
Ok fess up you two who glued your feet to the board!!. Great video!! lots of fun times .Enjoy !!
+Ed Hall ha ha, thanks for watching.
Beautiful , that's what we wans to do may be next year. Great video
WOW! Awesome scenery I'm sure it was way cooler actually being there... I just kept thinking that if you fell in it would have been a long cold day.... Great vid. thanks for the experience!!
I love your attitude... I told you to bring them... Who said anything about we??? I laughed both times.
Oh my goodness! What an video :) :) I swear I live through you two. You guys do things I would never have thought about doing. My scary, play-it-safe nerd butt would need a big boat. man this really makes me want to get a paddle board
What a great upload. Thank you so much for sharing.
Great video and the quality, magnificent. But for me that is dry suit water. Thanks
Amazing! I was entranced watching this one.
Wow, awesome experience! Wouldn't want to fall in, though. It would be a freezing cold ride back. Cheers.
Very nice and thanks for sharing.
Glad to hear that. I am an avid kayaker in New England and yak year round.
Beautiful!!
Thanks for another great video!
Yeah, but you did not have to have the long drive to the hotel ..... Awesome! Thanks for sharing.
+Andrew Tubbiolo excellent point!
that looked awesome
I lived there for 6 years - I went there for university. It was so beautiful! Wish they would have had paddle boards back then. Thank you for sharing! BTW how cold where your feet at the end!! LOL!
Fantastic Video where oh where will you end up next can't wait to see
oh man y'all are brave on that lil stick board thingy haha but one of those peddle paddle boat thingys would have been fun..Thanks for the video
You can hear it. Like jet planes. I saw and heard that last year there with a couple of huge glaciers.
That was awesome you guys! thanks
I lived in Anchorage for almost 20 years and never ever heard of anyone ever taking any kind of boat or paddle board etc onto Portage Lake. The tour boat is the only thing I’ve ever seen on the lake.
I would love to do that! Great video you two!
+Chad Roehrick You can do it too! -nikki
thanks for sharing a great time...
That looked fun! :)
That's so cool
Thank you for sharing. Really cool video.
cool to see sun up at midnight have only heard rummers that parts of Alaska the sun doesn't go down
+Mark Larsen It is crazy! Makes you never want to go to bed!
The only thing I can say is "WOW"
when i was a kid we would stop by there and get chunks of ice for fishing on the keni river to keep the fish cold. but then the glacier was almost in the parking lot .
how come you didn't rock the boat but for me would have been kayaks i still loved the video thanks ramming speed on those ice burgs
I see that flotilla & oar gets you around on the waterways ha!
Fun episode guys. What made you choose a paddle board over something like a tandem kayak? just curious.
Smashing video, you Wynns. Cold feet and a surf board eek! Still not ok with traveling the wrong side of road, will you ever get it right! Cheers.
+derrick ? haha, :)
Hi guys I love adventures
Hard to judge distances looking at video, but it seems you guys paddled quite a long way for a paddleboard. Good job!
that looked like fun :)
Fantastic vid!! :-)
Another great video. Beautiful scenery! I apologize if you've already covered this topic, but have you ever had any security concerns in reference to leaving your RV in some of the places you have (break-ins, theft, etc.)?
+ChrisB176 Thanks! We do mention wild camping and security here: www.gonewiththewynns.com/boondock-free-camp
Gone with the Wynns Thank you!

pretty cool guys!
You guys got courage. I'd rather Kayak :-)!
I one day need to go to Alaska
Wonderful adventure 🧜
Awesome! AND you didn't fall in... :) Actually was afraid if you fell in you might freeze to death.
Where do you store that Paddleboard?
Love your videos!!
would have been great gold panning opportunity.
Amazing!
Awesome!!
It doesn't seem like a real good idea to do this without a dry suit. Glad you made it without incident.
+Alastair Ingram we were prepared and talked with the rangers before going on this trip. Our dry bad did have what we needed should we fall in plus we have taken water safety classes geared for Alaska and were prepared to handle ourselves.

+wordsnwood Our SUP is extremely stable, some are not, so you gotta make sure you try on warm water in warm weather first :)
Guys with the temperature of that water you would become incapacitated very quickly if you fell in.looks like fun though.
When was this filmed? So much daylight at 11.30pm!
absolutely gorgeous views !! ( nicki is not bad either ) 😉

I would be so cold and wet falling in that water.
What was the water temp in that lake (saw you were barefooted)?
Tfs!
its 33 degrees..ice water..
+matanuska high basically if they fell in..they would be dead..
Love the videos :)
