I am from Guatemala. I bought my first pair of Thursday Boots and red wings because of your videos.
Seeing this made me happy, I don’t know why. Maybe because my boot TH-camr recognized the Pastores art and craftsmanship.

A little late to the party but that was awesome! I finished my first pair of shoes last November and it took me 7 months, all by hand so I really wish I had a sewing machine lol . I can’t imagine trying to learn in a week. If you’d like to keep it stateside, Marcell Mrsan is a shoemaker based on Pennsylvania. He does amazing work.

@@Stridewise I should have also mentioned the fair pay for workers as a big positive. While every company talks about social responsibility. I have a friend who researches these kinds of things as a professor and pointed out that Aldante does right by their workers.
Your video helped advertise that image nicely. This work has risks and needs skills and the workers can live well on the wages they receive.
It shouldn’t be so hard to trust that a company actually pays their workers fairly. Unfortunately the fashion world is full of bad examples.

@@Stridewise I've heard that, that is a good thing indeed. However, twice their living wage equals what fraction of Americans pay? Is it equavalent to our minimum wage, more, less? Guatamala is one of the 3rd world countries where healthcare access and outcomes are worse than the US, so that thing about bad healthcare is accurate. It should be noted that by accessibility and outcomes the US healthcare system is on par with many 3rd world countries(although it would be above average if you only compared it to developing and undeveloped countries), and is significantly worse than some countries with high rates of poverty like Cuba.

Nonsense. All of the companies you just listed use more equipment--lots more. Adelante is a much smaller company, with a much more manual process.
It's not just the lasting--literally every step here is by hand, in a much more manual process.
That doesn't automatically make it better, but they're also 1/3 the price of a Nick's boot.
