    Very interesting. It seems like they placed a 990 driver in the 880 housing for better bass extension, then added the tuning material from the 177X GO to tame the treble. The headband was reused from the custom one. It's a Frankenstein of all their previous headphones. Would be a fun project to swap the stock driver with the one from the 600ohm 990, to make a super TYGR

    According to Beyerdynamic the Tygr 300 is "based on the frequency response of the DT990 Pro". But there is some differences because of the acoustic fleece taming the sibilance of the treble.

    I love my modded dt770s, so I've thought about getting the 990s, but I'm not enough of an audiophile to justify getting a amp (and I'm too cheap anyway), so this convinced me to get these. Loving these too.

      I just use a Scarlett interface which can power 250 ohm cans, phantom power a condenser mic and offers live monitoring which I can't live without.
      Honestly a lot of people pan the 990 pros for the cranked high end but no other headphone has managed to make music sound as magical.
      Like I enjoy my HD600s but I'd throw them off a bridge for 990s.

    "gaming" headphones are kinda a scam IMO. I game a fair amount, I used to use gaming headphones. Still have a pair somewhere I think. But after getting a desk mic and thus not needing one on my headphones I got some beyerdynamic 1770 pros. MILES better for gaming and music. For gaming there's only 2 needs that are a bit different to normal music. 1) being able to understand people you're in a voice call with and 2) being able to hear small details in the in game sound to find stuff. For both of those things what you want is a clear sound that isn't tinted too much and a good presentation of detail is a nice bonus. Where do you find those things? Not in gaming headphones I tell you that much. If you want to game and you feel your headphones are needed for that specifically I always recommend beyer 770 or 990 depending on environment. But the main things that matter are detail and right left channel separation. For which you'll just want good headphones and IMO reasonably flat "pro" headphones do best.
    Having used a bunch of gaming headsets I don't remember the name of none were any better than a pair of AKG712s. My gaming headsets were a similar price range and were well reviewed at the time. Comparing it to the more high end headphones I own now that I bought broken and repaired it's no contest whatsoever.
    To anyone thinking about buying gaming headphones, please look into buying a separate mic and some good clean normal headphones. They'll last you longer and do the job so much better. I repair headphones for a hobby. So I've heard a lot of pairs of headphones. Gaming headphones break easier, sound worse, cost more and are harder to repair. Also ugly but that's personal taste, I just can't stand the look of "gaming" anything.

      I am not really an expert on gaming but possibly the DT990 32ohm as it will run off the controller and has good sound staging but the treble may be a bit harsh - if you want a less harsh sound then the tyger 300 or the DT900 proX if you can go up in price a bit

      The 1990s are not a step up in my opinion. I sold mine as the treble couldnt be tamed without ruining their magic.
      Never thought id look at beyers again but took a chance on 2nd hand pair of tygrs and out of the box thought they were bad, bloated bass and too much treble but after eq' down the mid bass, increase vocals and turned down treble minutely they now sound better than any other headphones iv ever owned they are amazing for music i could go on but wont bore you with tonality and as for gaming dolby atmos headphone has an eq so can remove the bass so that footsteps dont get drowned plus their imaging is phenomenally precise.
      Others mention that the 560s are better for gaming but i disagree this headphone can be eq'd to sound like the 560s but technically the 560s could never be a tygr.

    my DT990 Pro Limited Edition 250 Ohm are a bit fucked (dropped at least 200 times) and maybe im getting new ones (maybe i should just replace the broken parts. or do i get the Tygr 300 ? or the DT900 Pro X, but im not sure if double the price is worth it.
    Imo DT990 Pro is amazing for gaming and everything else. i will never go back to fucking shit headsets that cost more, break and sound awful

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am probably not the best person to ask but... if you love the sound of the 990 250 ohm then you might as well stick with those and we sell a kit to upgrade them if you fancy squeezing a little more goodness out of them. The DT900 Pro X are really good and easier to drive so can run better straight from PCs or consoles but as you said - they are more money. The DT900 do sound better but the 990 probably give more bang per buck
