Realized that the soldiers bearing the Queens coffin moved around the grave of The Unknown Warrior. That shows epic respect.

Yes, they walked OVER the memorial plaque for Winston Churchill, who is buried elsewhere, but around the grave of the Unknown Warrior.

NO-ONE is allowed to walk on the tomb of The Unknown Warrior... so.. whilst its respectful in itself, it doesn't mean that they moved around it that one time. The Queen, Royal Family or whoever you are are not allowed to walk on it and most people wouldn't anyway. I have been to a memorial service there.

As an Englishman I can say what totally made me tear up watching this entire procession was when HM QE 2nd entered Westminster Abbey to the choral music...it was like she was being welcomed home...she was made a monarch here and now she returned, relinquishing her monarchy, her crown, her office....she entered first, many years ago, as a woman and became a queen, and then here, entered again as a queen and became a woman. The profundity of that made me weep....more for the woman than the monarch. Born into a life of public service....

I was allowed to have a few days off college to recover from the Queen’s death and then I returned after the funeral not knowing I’ll become very ill 5 months later. I remember being in my hospital bed planning my funeral with just Woody.EXE and he signed my arrangements off, I was very happy he accepted it. Seeing the Woody.EXE 1st R signature today really hurts me knowing I could have died from my illness and Woody.EXE would have abdicated the throne immediately passing it down to my other Woody and my sister in 2023.
2023 was probably the most heartbreaking year in Woody.EXE’s reign and I can’t imagine the shock Wales would have been in if their Queen had passed away at 20. I’m a healthy 21 year old Queen now in 2024 and I’m continuing to do my duty.

I keep returning to the moment the Queen’s coffin enters the West door of Westminster Abbey; a very moving and tearful moment for a great lady, who served her country selflessly and throughout her reign taught this country and the rest of the world the meaning of duty. There is a lesson to learn from this much-missed and irreplaceable lady and a lot for all of us to think about as we continue to grieve and adapt to life without her.May she rest in peace after a life well lived in the service of her subjects at home and overseas.

The Choir of Westminster Abbey sings
“I AM the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”
    John 11: 25-26
“I KNOW that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: and though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another.”
    Job 19: 25-27
“WE brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”
    William Croft (1678-1727), 1 Timothy 6: 7; Job 1: 21
    Organist of Westminster Abbey 1708-27
The Choir of Westminster Abbey and the Choir of the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, sing
“THOU knowest, Lord, the secrets of our hearts; shut not thy merciful ears unto our prayer; but spare us, Lord most holy, O God most mighty, O holy and most merciful Saviour, thou most worthy Judge eternal, suffer us not, at our last hour, for any pains of death, to fall from thee. Amen.”
Henry Purcell (1659-95), The Book of Common Prayer 1549
    Organist of Westminster Abbey 1679-95
“I HEARD a voice from heaven, saying unto me, Write, From henceforth blessed are the dead which die in the Lord: even so saith the Spirit; for they rest from their labours. Amen.”

Since Elizabeth II died, there has been much publicity, not so much thought about why she matters, and why monarchy is helpful in general. Monarchy shouldn't be used as real-life soap opera, nor as mere material to fill space in the media.
The achievement of the British monarchy should become clear in comparison with the histories of other countries. In the 19th & 20th centuries the U.S.A, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain and Greece suffered in various ways civil wars, political storms, and dictatorships. This shows what can go wrong in the absence of a head of state which is above politics, and which opposes illegal dictatorship. If there are many reasons England, Wales, Scotland, Canada and Australia have had no civil war since Culloden in 1746, having a constitutional monarchy to unify all the people is an important reason. In the UK, 'peace' in formal speech is "The King's Peace".
Of course King Charles III's first marriage was a tragic mistake; Prince Philip could be tactless; he & Elizabeth II made mistakes as parents. Whatever mistakes the royal family have made, let us be grateful for the service they give, and for the difference the monarchy makes for the better, in the UK & the world. The sea around it didn't protect the U.S.A. against civil war in the 1860s, and the UK could have suffered civil war over slavery in the 19th century, or over world war, economic failure or loss of empire in the 20th. There will always be violence and political problems in the world, and billions of people who know or understand nothing of the huge, tangible power for peace and stability British monarchs are for everyone in Britain, the commonwealth (e.g. Canada & Australia) and for the world. Since the 1700s, billions of people have lived under the British crown without civil war, lynching, dictatorship in their lives. God save King Charles III, and his successors.

    TEARS = 2022 #
Tears are the raindrops of the soul
And there's one for all who die.
They are the silent words of grief
As they fall free from the eye.
The shortest verse in the Bible
Is the one where Jesus wept
So, if you hold back tears, shed them
When your pain is too harsh to accept.
Tears are lovelier than a smile
When they come from those you love
As they seek relief from sadness
    When you're summoned from above.
Tears are a love-mates humble gift
When it's time to say goodbye
Though the eyes are wet and swollen
With time and patience they dry.

    "SORROW" 2022 %%
    Sorrow is better than laughter
    For by grieving, we're improved.
    Blessed be all who morn
    Till from sadness they're removed.
After death our souls shall fly
    Perhaps from star to star.
    Reaching our destination
    To find Heaven’s gate ajar.
God made us able to cry
    Sorrow teaches us to fear.
Those days we’re selfish and cruel
When life is so short and dear.
Time wipes tears from all faces
Whose hearts are tuned to sorrow.
Those that cry a thousand tears
    Shall be blessed by tomorrow.
It matters not, how long we live
More, how well we play our part.
For the road to Heaven is always near
As long as there's truth in our heart.

I am an American, born in March 1952 several weeks after Elizabeth became queen. She was the reigning British monarch through more than seventy years of my life. When she turned ninety in 2016, I wrote her a letter of admiration and affection, for her and for the way she fulfilled her role as queen of England. Some weeks later I received a reply from her from Buckingham Palace thanking me for my good wishes. It's my most treasured piece of correspondence. The envelope is stamped "Royal Mail." What a thrill it was to receive it!

Hi, the expenses for funding the monarch is provided through what is known as a "Sovereign Grant" - this is public money paid to the monarch every year, to ensure their role as monarch and as head of state runs to order. The Sovereign Grant for the financial year 2022 - 2023 currently stands at £86.3 million. This money is used to fund all staffing, security, administration, travel expenses, special functions, etc. That money is paid for out of general income tax. The staff of the monarch pays income tax on their salaries, just like any other worker. Since 1993, the monarch and the heir to the throne both pay income tax and capital gains tax on all of their private incomes. Also the monarch and heir to the throne pay VAT (Value Added Tax) and also local rates (local taxes) - So yes, even the late Queen and now the new King pays income tax.

    • @michaelmontagu3979
      @michaelmontagu3979 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@johnking5174 One extra point. The Sovereign Grant isn't taxpayers money. It is a percentage of the income of the private Crown Estate. The government keeps the balance, about £300 million a year.
