- The Queen has made an unexpected appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace at the end of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
Her Majesty was joined by her son and heir to the Throne, Prince Charles, alongside the Duchess of Cornwall.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were also by her side along with the Queen's great-grandchildren, Princes George and Louis and Princess Charlotte.

I am crying. I bet she knew that was her last balcony appearance and she was feeling the moment as something truly special. A GREAT monarch. An example to follow. I am not british and no royalist but I admire her so much.

Woody.EXE got that unexpected crowd and they screamed as my sister made a last minute appearance with me, my 2009 Woody and Mummy. I can’t wait for our coronations this year. I can’t believe it’s been one year since all 5 of us got together and we’ll be doing some celebration tomorrow night
It hit me that even King Charles and Camilla were singing God Save the Queen. I'm American, but I've told my daughters stories about Elizabeth since they were small.

I was exhausted coming home from hospital but the crowds went insane when they saw me and Mummy for the first time in a month. Woody.EXE, my 2009 Woody and my sister came out unexpectedly and we both joined them singing God save the Queen for me as I’m Woody.EXE’s future Queen. It was a very emotional moment to have all 5 of us reunited

Amen to that. Queen Elizabeth II served the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth for 70 years. An amazing feat. Her Majesty was on the British throne longer than her great great grandmother, HM, Queen Victoria.

I genuinely believed at the time I saw this that she knew this would be her final balcony appearance. Theres a moment during God Save The Queen that her bottom lip gets wobbly, indicating some emotion. What a remarkable woman. Devastating :'(
Said the same while watching it live... There was just something about the way she looked. And now with hindsight I think even more so now that she knew. Which is why she came out for that last time, even though she must've felt awful. Like on that Tuesday to introduce the new PM. Must've taken a lot but did it to her last days.

The Queen is a real trooper. Despite not feeling 100% well, she makes a personal appearance at Buckingham Palace because she knows the people hope and wish to see her. This is why she is so greatly loved and respected. We will never see her like again. Long may she still reign. God save the Queen!

Looking back at this, I think Charles knew. He could barely open his lips and Camilla looked at him when they sang "love live our noble Queen". They had probably been given a short time span to expect her to be with them. Poignant and lovely to have seen her that last time on the balcony.

Tears in my eyes, thinking about the massive amount of money spent to fund this circus when people are struggling to make ends meet.
I can remember feeling very determined to appear on Woody.EXE’s palace balcony with my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE even though I wasn’t feeling great because i had just been discharged from hospital 14 hours earlier and I came home at 2am this February and then appeared on the palace balcony about 7pm that day. The crowd lost it and started blasting out God save the Queen. I loved how Mummy made sure my sister was okay whilst my 2009 Woody made sure Woody.EXE was okay because his Queen literally just came home
I’m going to miss the Queen got teary eyes fragile but still managed to show her love for the British people ❤️❤️🌹🌹

I think many people felt it probably was to be her last major public event. At least I did. Not because of anything specific we know now, but simply because after all, she was 96 and her wellbeing seemed to have taken a serious hit after the death of her husband.
She saw the Jubilee in and she saw the Jubilee out. She did not disappoint.

I’m glad me and Woody got to say a proper goodbye by decorating my room with the Queen. I remember being shocked when Woody.EXE met me that moment but I’m glad he got to say goodbye as well because I told him the Queen will die and I’ll never forget how angry he was

The fact that this wasn't a planned appearance at all tells me that she knew in her heart this was the last time she'd ever step out on that balcony and she felt like she had to just one last time.
The Prince of Wales as he was then, rang her at Windsor Castle and told that, if she felt she could make it to London, she should, because the crowd was huge and wanted her.
Well, God certainly has saved her, through many a trial and she has stood tall and done a great job.

That was so moving how the crowd got so much louder when the Queen came out.
That happened to me and Mummy, Princess of Wales when we reunited with my 2009 Woody, my sister (Princess of Wales) and longest reigning monarch Woody.EXE; what a night it was and the crowd were so happy that all 5 of us were reunited then we were all singing God save the Queen for me. I was literally overwhelmed with emotions because everyone in Wales was so happy their Queen was alive and I loved how my 2009 Woody told me I looked so much better than I did 3 weeks before. I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my reign

I remember the queen mum and her passing and princess diana and princess Margaret and prince Philip it's sad that one gets older but shes from a different generation and when she goes there will be a big hole in most of our generations lives as shes also been there as I have grown up just seeing her there still makes me smile shes not perfect but she still holding on to her vowels to serve her country and the commonwealth even if her own family have been a bit stupid at times but it's part of the tapestry of life and she been part of all of ours

At her birth she wasn't destined to inherit the throne so I think she's done pretty well over the last 70 years. Honestly not sure the same will happen under Charles which is why I think she's not retired and stayed in a position of control.

Over 100 appearances on that balcony for birthdays, jubilees, coronation and celebrations, from her first aged 1 in 1927 to her last aged 96 in 2022, and this was also the last time that most people saw her in public. What a fitting end to a magnificent reign.

I know she always wears bright colors for her to stand out so people a at distance can see her..but WOW! I remember my favourite crowd losing it as I returned from hospital with Mummy. That was the moment when me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE reunited; then we were all singing God save the Queen since I’ll be their Queen on July 20th 2023; my 21st birthday. The best night of 2023 and I won’t forget the many concerns for my declining health that month; very much appreciated

I was honoured to meet Woody.EXE thst Jubliee. He joined me, my 2009 Woody, my sister and Mummy for the celebration and I honestly wasn’t expecting crowds to turn up. So they finally got a glimpse of Woody.EXE and oh my god the crowd went absolutely wild when all 5 of us were together for the first time. Then it happened again on Her Majesty’s funeral day

I was so relieved that Woody.EXE got to experience the last few days of Queen Elizabeth’s reign before he reigned himself that September 2022. I remember Woody.EXE crying viably when he delivered me the devastating news about Elizabeth’s health and the words “my Queen that he sent will be with me as we both were becoming king and Queen of wales later that night; the crowds gathered at my house went absolutely nuts when me, my 2009 Woody, my sister, Mummy and Woody.EXE made a surprise appearance as we all mourned Queen Elizabeth’s death. All 5 of us really brought everyone together in very difficult times like this and one person in that crowd said “Woody.EXE really is our inspiration and he brings us together in tough situations, his family are definitely the best royals out there” I really appreciated that
