You’re completely wrong about Lucario. He’s probably the only post-Gen 1 Pokemon to be as iconic as the “Big 5” of Gen 1 (Pikachu, Eevee, Charizard, Jigglypuff, and Mewtwo). Lucario was also on Ash’s final team in the anime and is the de facto poster child of Mega Evolution, a feature that we know is returning in at least one upcoming game. If anything, Mewtwo is more likely to be cut since he was cut before. Mii Fighters are probably not getting cut either. Not only are they a whole feature onto themselves, but they’re also a revenue source thanks to the DLC costumes.
No doubt Lucario is an extremely important Pokémon but definitely not as big as Mewtwo. Probably the most relevant fighting type though! Probably a bigger deal than Greninja though and I only put Greninja above because I think Greninja is more popular in Smash and Greninja has more interesting attacks. You are probably correct about Mii fighters (especially with the revenue point. Nintendo is a business after all). Saw another suggestion in the comments about them being more in line with Miitopia so I think that’d be a cool compromise.

If Marvel Vs Capcom 2 were the equivalent of Smash Ultimate, the next entry need to go the direction of MVC3 and include all fan favourites but still have a huge roster and not MVCI where they drastically cut the cast and get rid of many beloved characters.

Just keep Marth, Roy, and Ike But with Ike I have one condition, I only want him back in the next smash game if they bring back his old VA from Brawl and Smash4 His new VA in Ultimate was disgusting If not then Cut Ike and put Robin in
From a Fire Emblem fan's perspective, the three best to include are Marth, Robin, and Byleth. Representing strategy/series origins, magic and weapon durability, and weapon triangle
I would keep Marth and Robin. Marth is iconic and is part of the OG 12. Robin comes from the game that saved the series and plays VERY differently from the other FE characters due to being a mage.
Sakurai mentioned in an interview that "Everyone is Here" is a one-time deal that would likely never happen again for future Smash Bros games, so we're bound to get a smaller roster in the Switch 2 entry.
I think one thing I noticed about 3rd party characters is Sakurai seems to consider the big 3 to be Sonic, Ryu, and Cloud. Ever since Cloud was revealed, there have been instances in trailers where the three seem to represent the 3rd party side. That being said, of these 3, Cloud be the most likely cut for the base game. Square Enix generally prefers their crossover content to be DLC. I think Cloud was even the hardest to get in to keep the Everyone Is Here motif
Here are the specifics: * In Cloud's reveal trailer, it shows him taking on Mario, Ryu, and Sonic. When showing off his victory screen in the presentation, the same three are chosen. * When Ultimate was formerly revealed, they were the first three guests to be shown, before Snake revealed everyone was returning. * In Joker's second trailer, when Futaba is gushing over all the legendary fighters, there's a Nintendo side (Mario, Link, and Kirby) and a Guest side (Sonic, Ryu, and Cloud)
Didn’t mention this in the video but I personally dislike Ryu and other fighting game reps in Smash. First off, their play style does not vibe with Smash at all. Secondly, the whole thing with Smash is that it’s a fighting game using characters from non-fighting games so to have a fighting game character take up a slot (let alone 4) just never sat right with me.
Speaking of Ryu Throw in these SF characters in the next game Throw in Chun Li M Bison Blanka Zangief Vega Guile Cammy E. Honda Balrog Ect..........................................
Lucario's not a clone of Mewtwo in any way shape or form. Also if we're keeping Greninja because of that popularity poll Lucario stays as well since he's the second most popular Mon according to it. Never got the logic of cutting Lucario but keeping Greninja. Either they both stay or they both go. They're pretty much equally as important.
I never found Lucario to be a clone of Mewtwo either. I just think Lucario should be cut because he’s not that relevant in Pokémon anymore. Definitely think Greninja is more relevant to Pokémon than Lucario since Greninja is a starter. Also, Greninja has much more unique characterization and play style than Lucario.
I think that would be the best option if possible but realistically I think they may have issues getting licensing deals for all the 3rd party characters again.
@@yodaflyz I dont want anyone to be cut it always feels like something is missing when someone is cut, as it is it felt like something was still missing when they didnt bring all the bosses back so please dont cut anyone. bigger is better
Lucario is way bigger than Mewtwo these days and a lot more relevant. It's a perfect attendance Pokemon that's appeared in every mainline game for every region since its debut that has starred in very important roles for many of them; the first ever Mega Evolution Pokemon, being the ace to several fighting type gym leaders and Elite Four members, as well as being one of Cynthia's strongest Pokemon, being the Hero of Heroes in the Mystery Dungeon series. Lucario has also been the face of some Pokemon spin-offs (Pokken Tournament, Pokemon Ranger, and Pokemon Unite being a few prime examples), was a major part of Ash's final team in the Pokemon anime, and was voted the 2nd most popular Pokemon of all time. If the issue is just the moveset and playstyle, then the Super Smash Bros team are responsible for fixing that because people who know Lucario agrees it fights nothing like its canon self and have complained about that since Brawl.
I could see a lot of 3rd party characters getting cut for licensing reasons. Outside if that it depends on how they build the game. If they re-develop everyone & build the game from the ground up I can see cuts being made to save the staff time rebuilding expected characters. However, if they choose not to re-invent the wheel as they say & just do an updated port (as I suspected they did with Wii U to Ultimate) then the work is already mostly done & theres no reason to cut anyone 1st party as the room for new characters would be greatly increased with new more powerful hardware. That's likely how we got everyone is here in the first place.
I think something to note for the Melee characters cut from Brawl, Roy, Dr. Mario, and Mewtwo were still planned to be in it, but never got finished. I wouldn't say Ike and Lucario replaced Roy and Mewtwo. Young Link and Pichu dont have evidence of intention for conclusion, so Toon Link actually did replace him, and while its not confirmed, some theorize Plusle and Minun would have replaced it. Lucas was also set to replace Ness until Sakurai found out Mother 3 peobably wouldn't be released in the West.
Honestly I'm hoping the next Smash has A smaller roster! That way we can get side content, revamped movesets. (Original 12) And maybe even A new sub space? (I'm thinking A roster between the size or brawl or melee. )
Here’s how my version of the roster would look for Smash Bros. 6: 50 returning characters: 1. Mario: (gets a slightly revamped moveset, also gets a much better final smash) 2. Luigi: (gets a slightly revamped moveset) 3. Peach: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect Princess Peach Showtime, also gets Daisy as part of her alt skins) 4. Rosalina & Luma: (moveset stays pretty much the same, also gets a much better final smash) 5. Bowser: (gets a slightly revamped moveset, also final smash changes into Fury Bowser instead of Giga Bowser and gets more variation instead of just one punch like breathing giant fireballs and then doing one powerful punch) 6. Yoshi: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 7. Wario: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to have more references to the Wario Land series) 8. Donkey Kong: (gets a slightly revamped moveset) 9. Diddy Kong: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 10. King K. Rool: (moveset stays pretty much the same but with slight tweaks to help make him more competitively viable) 11. Link (Adult) most likely referenced to the BOTW & TOTK version but would still have alt skins referencing the classic Zelda games: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reference more of BOTW & TOTK, but also gets his classic claw shot grab tether back) 12. Zelda (referenced to the same Smash Bros. Ultimate Link Between Worlds version because I think she looks & sounds cute in that version, if it’s not going to be her default skin at least make it one of her alt skins): (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect Echoes of Wisdom & help make her more competitively viable) 13. Ganondorf (most likely referenced to the TOTK version, but also comes with other versions from the Zelda series as alt skins): (gets a fairly revamped moveset to help make him more competitively viable and make him less of a Captain Falcon clone by giving him moves that are reflective of what he does in the Zelda series) 14. Samus: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect the modern Metroid games) 15. Ridley: (gets a slightly revamped moveset) 16. Kirby: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to help make him more competitively viable) 17. Meta Knight: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 18. King Dedede: (moveset stays pretty much the same but with slight tweaks to help make him more competitively viable) 19. Fox: (moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe gets Falco as part of alt skins) 20. Pikachu: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 21. Mewtwo: (moveset gets slightly revamped to help make him more competitively viable) 22-24. Pokémon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard): (moveset stays pretty much the same) 25. Greninja: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 26. Ness: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 27. Captain Falcon: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 28. Marth: (moveset stays pretty much the same, also gets Lucina as part of alt skins) 29. Robin: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 30. Byleth: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 31. Mr. Game & Watch: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 32. Pit: (moveset gets slightly revamped to reflect more of Kid Icarus Uprising, maybe also gets Dark Pit as part of alt skins) 33. Olimar: moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe also incorporate things from the newer Pikmin games) 34. R.O.B.: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 35. Villager: (moveset gets slightly revamped to combine aspects of both Villager & Isabelle) 36. Little Mac: (moveset gets fairly revamped to help make him more competitively viable) 37. Shulk: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 38. Inkling: (moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe also incorporate things from the newer Splatoon games) 39. Bayonetta: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 40. Sonic: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to make him play more similarly to his version from Sonic Battle and to also reflect other newer Sonic games) 41. Snake: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 42. Simon: (moveset stays pretty much the same, also comes with Richter as part of alt skins) 43. Mega Man: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 44. Ryu: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 45. Kazuya: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 46. Pac-Man: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 47. Steve: (moveset stays pretty much the same but with slight tweaks to nerf him a little) 48. Cloud: (moveset stays pretty much the same) 49. Sephiroth: (gets a slightly revamped moveset to help make him a bit more powerful) 50. Sora: (gets a slightly revamped moveset to allow him to use more abilities) Plus 10 to 15 newcomers for the base game giving us all in all 60 to 65 characters for the base game, plus 10 to 15 DLC characters giving us anywhere from 70 to 80 characters for the entire game. My most highly requested characters being Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Eggman, Dante, Paper Mario, and at least 2 to 3 Legend of Zelda characters that have never been playable in Smash Bros.
I think it should be one third party character per company. But obviously don’t have 15 third party characters. Anywhere from 3-8 would be a nice number, though it also depends on the next games roster size. The lower the roster size, the less third party characters there are. Third party characters should 100% be in the game. That’s something they can’t really go back in now. Now for who those would be? If I had to pick at least a few… Sonic will always be the first to be chosen. In fact, if any third party company got extra characters it would be Sega. I liked your idea of JUST the series that got in gets more representation. Same could apply to third parties. Then I wanna say Pac-Man as Namco has been helping with the games. Megaman is a part of that trio, but when it comes to popularity, who is Capcoms mascot at this point? It would be Ryu. Microsoft is friendly with Nintendo so I can definitely see them playing ball. As to who? Banjo-Kazooie, Steve, and even Master Chief could be the candidate. Ultimately I think they’d go with Steve. Konami and Square Enix are harder to work with but their characters would absolutely be welcomed by Nintendo and the fans. Snake would be the most popular option but I am not sure about him. Everyone seems to think Simon will be the returning Konami character. I can see that but Snake literally got into Fortnite within the past year or two. Also they are working on a Metal Gear 3 remake. I have a feeling it will be easier to get Snake than everyone’s letting on. For Square Enix, Cloud is their biggest character. Seeing how seemingly difficult it was to get him into ultimate is a bit off putting. Though we ended up getting 3 other Square Enix characters. Dragon Quest has more to do with Nintendo so I can see it being Hero, but if there is any chance Nintendo can get Cloud they will choose him over the others. They consider him one of the bigger deals. And he is. He was the character that when added, the floodgates were open to possibilities now.
I would rather fewer 3rd party franchises but with multiple characters from those franchises. Smash isn’t just about characters interacting, it’s about worlds colliding. When it’s just one character, one stage and little else it feels like they are just crammed into the game rather than actually being apart of it
@ I didn’t think of that until you said it in the video. I like the idea. Like I said 3-8 third party characters with other representation from their franchise (characters, bosses, assist trophies, items, etc.) would be the best way to go
Maybe the shield power up box from the Sonic series can be used as an item, the three will seeds from Persona 5 Royal can be collected similar to the Dragoon Pieces or the Daybreaker item and will heal a significant amount of damage when all 3 seeds are collected. For additional stages for these Third Party Characters, I can see for the Sonic series having Terminal Velocity from Sonic Colors, Eggmanland from Unleashed, Sunset Height from Sonic Forces but the revamped version from Shadow Generations, Station Square flooded by Perfect Chaos. For the Persona series, I can imagine Maruki’s Palace (Center of Melancholy) to represent Royal, the Depths of Mementos, The Velvet Room from P5, The Casino Palace from P5, Shido’s Ark Palace, The Yaldabaoth arena, The entrance to the TV World, The entrance to Tartarus that changes the layout each time like the Mario Maker stage etc. Sonic can get Sonic himself, Shadow, Tails, Knuckles and Eggman. Joker can get Violet, Yu Narukami, Makoto Yuki, Aigis and Crow to represent the Persona series as a whole.
Definitely cutting characters in Smash 6. Watched and you show a lot of insight. IMO this is one of the more thoughtful videos of the subject. We're of one mind, but Pokemon selection are tricky to predict. Smash 6 will need to distinguish itself from Ultimate or they'll be no reason to move to it.
Thank you! I’m glad you found this video more thoughtful than most! Yes Pokémon is probably the trickiest series for them to pick reps from since there’s just so many Pokémon to choose from. Granted some Pokémon are more suited to be in the game than others it’s probably still difficult to choose which Pokémon should get in.
For third parties, I say Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Simon Belmont, and Ryu are mainstays for the series because of the deep history their franchises have with Nintendo amd their iconic statuses. Snake, Cloud, Bayonetta, Steve, Sephiroth, Terry and Kazuya have a 50% chance of staying or getting put as dlc or getting cut. Now Richter, Ken, Joker, Hero, and Sora (if Disney lets him stay in the series, which is a big IF) have the highest percentage of getting cut to make room for new third party characters to join like Crash Bandicoot, Rayman, Lloyd Irving, Sol Badguy and a new third Capcom character like Chun Li, a Resident Evil character (Leon and/or Claire) or Viewtiful Joe.
@@madmangameshd2490 Sort of, we have an amiibo for every fighter slot but some characters that where treated as alternative skins like Alph (Olimar) & the Koopalings (Bowser Jr.) still need official amiibo's.
I’m the kind of guy who thinks that smash is a game that revolves around having everyone’s favorite game characters in the game. That being said I think you could get rid of pichu, toon link, min min, doc, and especially game and watch. I think they should get rid of all the characters who nobody says “hey my favorite video game character is min min from arms”
an important clarification: doctor mario is NOT mario mario. He is a separate character entirely, so I think he should stay beyond that I think Pichu and Toon link could just be skins for Pikachu and Link, because functionally they're the same
@@MingRubfesbowser making an appointment for something like an itchy throat is hilarious to me however I think my point still stands because I don’t think anybody’s favorite video game character is doctor Mario tbh I don’t think he belongs for the same reason ibdont think min min belongs
Square Enix so they can finally add Geno. I guess we would get Cloud & Sepheroth back to. I think Sora is owned by Disney so unfortunately he's out even if Square Enix made him.
For first party cuts, I have my predictions. Dr. Mario, Young Link, Roy, Pichu, Lucario, Wolf, Dark Pit, Dark Samus, Daisy, Incineroar, Piranha Plant, and Byleth have the highest percentage of getting cut (98%). Ice Climbers, Lucas, Lucina, Duck Hunt Dog, Chrom, Corrin, and Min Min have like a 50% chance of staying as hidden unlockable characters or getting put as DLC or getting cut. The rest of the first party roster stays.
Cut Predictions: Dr. Mario Pichu Young Link Falco Lucario Lucas Pokemon Trainer Olimar Toon Link Lucina Palutena Robin Villager Shulk Dark Pit Corrin Inkling Dark Samus Chrom Ken Isabelle Simon Richter Piranha Plant Joker Terry Min Min Hero Byleth Pyra/Mythra Mii Brawler Mii Swordfighter Mii Gunner
I’m gonna be honest I feel like cutting Marth and Ike would be a better choice because they have been around for the longest out of all except for Roy for the fire emblem series, I mean, I can get Corrin but honestly, I think chrom and lucina stay because then that would mean that they would cut maps that are not actually from actual fire emblem game anyways that’s just my opinion
I agree with most of your cuts. I think Greninja should also get the boot. But with Pokémon Legends: Z-A coming out, that undeniably gives it more reason to stay, as much as I would rather it get cut - I wish Delphox got in instead since that's my favourite Kalos starter, plus it gives a reason to cut Charizard, but I doubt The Pokémon Company would be happy about their Golden Child getting cut. And thank you for stating why Mewtwo didn't deserve to get cut in the first place and is actually more deserving to stay than Lucario. I'd argue Incineroar is one of the most unique Pokémon reps, so I won't mind them sticking around, especially if it was made a little faster. I wish Jigglypuff would get cut despite being one of the Original 12 - she either deserves a big moveset makeover such as some Fairy-type attacks to feel more interesting and refreshing to play as, or get her outta here. She's just unnecessary, man. I wanna see Tinkaton or Meowscarada representing Paldea in Smash. Especially the former, since she is pretty much the most popular Paldea Pokémon with Meowscarada a close second as the most popular starter - fans have been crying out for Sceptile as a new Grass rep, but I think Meowscarada fits the bill better due to being a fresher face.
Lols we both keep the exact same 4 Fire Emblem characters cause let’s be real, Marth’s the face of the franchise, Ike’s the popular male character of Fire Emblem, Robin’s from the entry that saved the series and Byleth’s from the best selling entry, I do say Lyn & Ephraim should be newcomers, Lyn really should’ve been playable and not an assist trophy considering her game was the first one we were ever exposed to and Ephraim just to have a traditional lance user I’d also say keep Lucario since he’s the only one repping the DS console as the DS doesn’t have that many characters to choose from that debut on the system other than Sylux
Haha funny we had the same idea. I think Lyn might be too similar to Marth though. Maybe could be the Marth echo instead of Lucina. Interesting take on Lucario though. Perhaps Zoroark would fill that niche instead? Though Zoroark has really fallen out of favor since gen 5 so unless some new media prominently features Zoroark probably not. Funny how if a Smash bros came out right after gen 5 we probably would have gotten Zoroark but Brawl was right after gen 4 and Wii U/3DS was right after gen 6. Day late and a buck short for Zoroark.
If they keep Chrom on the roster, I'd like to see a slight chance in Robin's final Smash as having Chrom also be part of Robins final Smash & taking up a roster slot feels like there doubling up a bit much. I honestly think the only reason it wasn't changed is likely because they ran out of development time. Perhaps Chrom's sister Lissa could finally get a chance to shine with Robin?
Honestly, i don't think there should be another game because i don't see how they can top anything like this. Everyone is here, some of the dlc (mainly sora) was highly requested, and if they made a new game, they might just cut more characters. They should just do more dlc like new game modes and more characters.
I think the best thing to do is refresh the roster. Cut loose a few of the third parties and legacy fluff from series that may be over-represented now (I.e. Sheik, Falco, Lucas). Keep new age popular picks, such as Greninja, Pyra/Mythra, Isabelle, Byleth, etc. Bring in new age characters, such as the obligatory Pokémon, Fire Emblem, and now Xenoblade characters, Oatchi, etc. Bring in ‘ripe’ characters who have finally grown. Paper Mario, Bandana Dee, Tom Nook, etc.
Honestly, I feel a similar way. Smash was supposed to be an “All-Star” crossover from the very beginning (it was in the original tagline for 64) and I think the roster is best served to evolve and change alongside Nintendo itself. Which means series and characters that have fallen out of relevance like Kid Icarus and Mother should be able to take a step back in a brand new game. For example, Jigglypuff could easily be replaced by Eevee and Star Fox has done nothing in the last decade to warrant more than one character plus a stage in the next Smash game, especially if it’s any sort of soft reboot.
@@TheGameCubicleMaybe we could get another version of Pokémon Trainer where they could be called Gym Leader instead, maybe it could be Cynthia if we wanted to have Garchomp as one of her options.
My theory is that Nintendo knows how hard it’d be to top Smash Ultimate and that they’d need to do something different, so they’re letting Sakurai make his own game to be away from the series for a while so he’s more impassioned when it’s time to make the next one and so fans can really “miss Smash” and be more forgiving of whatever cuts the next game has. Switch 2 is backwards compatible so maybe they can just keep selling Ultimate for a while, at least until whatever Sakurai is making now is done.
All bare bone clones and echoes better either be given one key difference like Daisy now being a faster and stronger version of peach but with no float mechanic and characters/series like the Sonic need better representation. Thats all i care about and as for new fighters, Shadow is a must after his own dedicated year and high fanbase along with Eggman as he is literally top 5 most reconisable game vilians ever and characters/series like Crash, DoomSlayer and Scorpion need to be in thenext game.
Yeah Daisy being a heavier, but more aggressive and faster take on Peach’s gameplay fits perfectly with her character as the sporty gal of the Mario ladies. Richter if he stays should at least have his Holy Water travel in an arc compared to Simon and when it explodes the fire travels in a straight line for a bit instead of staying in one place. Sonic NEEDS to have his moveset revamped at this point, his boost mechanic comes to mind and can reward players for keeping up the momentum instead of camping like usual. Sonic can instead of different shades of blue for his costumes can instead get either colors based off his many friends and rivals or his many outfits over the many years in spinoffs like his SA2 outfit, his Riders design, his Heroes model, etc. Shadow if he gets in can have his Doom Power mechanic come into play to enhance his moveset but also double as a reference to his campaign in Generations in celebration of The Year of Shadow. If Persona sticks around on the roster if Joker isn’t cut, then I would love for Violet to get into smash as she can base her moveset off of Joker’s, but she would NOT be an echo fighter, she’d be her own fighter. The difference being that Violet would be using Cendrillion, her own persona that uses Bless attacks and high knockback compared to Arsene and his damage over time abilities with the Curse attacks. Violet would use her high acrobatic skills as a pro gymnast in the making to gracefully move around the battlefield and would be as quick as Joker with more range thanks to her rapier weapon, but can be easier to KO due to her low endurance in P5R. Joker can have his costumes adjusted so that they reference his other male party members instead of JUST Akechi like Ryuji, Yusuke and even throw in his Akane’s Joker costume, he can also properly get his Shujin Academy Summer uniform as well as his Winter uniform. Violet will mirror this by her costumes referencing the female party members like Ann, Makoto, Futaba and Haru while getting a Maruki inspired costume for her Phantom Thief costume. Just like Joker, Violet would get her Winter and Summer Shujin uniforms, but will exclusively with the Shujin alts have the option to change Violet’s hairstyle between her ponytail tied up with her signature red ribbon as we see her in Royal OR have her hair down while wearing glasses to show her true self as Sumire Yoshizawa.
I honestly want Young Link to have a Majora's Mask themed moveset instead of being just a Link clone. Otherwise seems pointless to have him. Edit: there are some other characters on the roster i have a few opinions on wether they should stay or get cut.
If that were Young Link’s deal I wouldn’t want him removed either. Another issue with everyone is here that I didn’t mention is that it encouraged them not to update the returning characters. Young Link had to return like how he was in Melee instead of being more updated.
Just get rid of Jigglypuff, Sheik, Dr.Mario, Pichu, Falco, Young link, Roy, ZSS, Lucas, Toon link, Wolf, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Wii fit trainer, Palutena, Lucina, Dark pit, Corrin, Daisy and Pirahna Plant as a start
Disagree with Jigglypuff, Lucas, Falco, Wolf and Palutena. I think they all have a place in Smash. Besides Jigglypuff, all those characters come from more obscure 1st party franchises and removing characters from those franchises further pushes the more well known ones and makes Smash much more surface level. Also disagree with Dark Pit and Daisy as I don’t mind echo fighters since they’re basically skins with minor changes and don’t really take up a slot (on the fence about Lucina as there may be a more deserving Fire Emblem echo). On the fence with ZSS, Toon Link, Squirtle and Ivysaur but would be okay with their removal if it meant other more unique characters from those franchises would take their place. Agree on the rest.
Falco is unique enough and important to Star Fox and Smash to stay. Sheik has a shot since OoT is still considered one of the greats of all time and Sheik has a major hand in why. Kind of agree on the rest though.
There'll be a massive cut to the roster. How massive? This is what I speculate: ●Ness, Captain Falcon and Jigglypuff are in danger of being cut. ●Virtually almost no 3rd party veterans will return ●Most characters deemed too conceptually similar to other existing characters will be cut (Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Isabelle) ●A lot of Pokemon will be culled so that only Pikachu and maybe Mewtwo remains ●Little Mac and some of Kid Icarus gets cut ●Many retro character-designated reps like G&W, Ice Climbers, Duck Hunt and ROB get cut A lot of the logic comes really from logistics as well as cutting away series from the roster that are more or less deemed dead. The roster is basically deemed a graveyard and there needs to be a higher level of scrutiny for potential newcomers over character concepts. For example, Alear would have a good shot at being a newcomer not because they're a Fire Emblem lord, but because they got a unique mechanic to them with the Spirit Rings that lets them manifest the powers of series lords for their attacks. That's genuinely unique even among melee weapon -using characters. Meanwhile, a bad example would be the other Lords mentioned in the video. Yeah they don't use swords per say, but melee weapons are in the same category of swords and making the hook to a concept "It's not a sword. But it still has similar advantages and disadvantages to a sword" just doesn't do it for scrutiny's sake. We've seen swords with immense power behind them being used like axes/hammers and swords being used to poke like spears and ofc swords with varying sweet and sourspots depending on what part of the blade hits like different melee weapons. Basically, what I'm saying is that there'll be a lot of cuts based off of weak/unpopular concepts, licensing and health of series while newcomer concepts will be looked under scrutinous eyes based upon uniqueness of concept from a mechanical standpoint and health of series. Another thing to consider for newcomers is who would be possible on Switch 2 that would not be possible on Switch 1
I think it’s important for some of the “dead” franchise characters to stay. Captain Falcon and Ness are too iconic to Smash. No way they remove them even if their respective series don’t get games anymore. Those characters exist as more of a history lesson. It’s different than the “Arms” situation where that’s just one game that was a flop. At least F-Zero and Earthbound had enough impact when they were around that their series got multiple entries.
I do really like your speculation about how characters will be decided based on uniqueness. I think that character uniqueness has been a big problem in Smash ever since Melee had an abundance of clone characters due to it being a rushed game. The cuts in Brawl and 4 started to whittle away at these clone characters with Ultimate bringing them back.
With Shadow being a Sonic echo I think it could definitely be possible to get that many Sonic reps. Hopefully we'd get a stage from that series that isn't just grass as well.
Who Should or Will likely get Cut Pichu Young Link Dr Mario Dark Pit Piranha Plant JigglyPuff Dark Samus King K Rool Bowser Jr Lucas Wolf Roy Incineroar Mr Game & Watch Steve From Minecraft Wii Fit Trainer Isabelle or Villager Duck Hunt or Banjo Sora Terry Joker Mii Who Should be Added instead Toad A New Zelda Character Shadow or Knuckles Eggman Crash Bandicoot + Coco Echo Spyro the Dragon Rayman Cranky Kong Dixie Kong Krystal A New Pokémon Character A New Kirby Character A New Tekken Character Waluigi Shantae the Genie Just my opinion guaranteed knowing Nintendo we'd be getting a new Pokémon Fighter and likely more Fire Emblem reps as well Since Nintendo loves those franchises
@Arctyx_Xoit's actually not because I don't like Sora as a character it's because the Disney Licensing is expensive and Sora doesn't feel right in Smash without Mickey Donald and Goofy as Cameo's I am however not a fan of how floaty Sora is when playing as him And if you're Talking about Minecraft Steve well I'd cut him because he's similar to the Animal Crossing Villager.
@@AnormaIPerson3121simple Steve plays like a better Villager except a few gimmicks mostly building related he's not a unique character at all which is sad because Minecraft is a good game.
All the Pokémon? That’s Nintendo’s 2nd biggest franchise! Shadow as Sonic echo and Knuckles as own character. Eggman seems fun but I think he’d kinda play weird. Seems more like an assist trophy/stage hazard
Sonic is to me probably the most deserving 3rd party character, I mean, him and Mario have been in the same game
Agreed!

Bro just cut every fire emblem except marth
Just keep Marth, Roy, and Ike
But with Ike I have one condition, I only want him back in the next smash game if they bring back his old VA from Brawl and Smash4
His new VA in Ultimate was disgusting
If not then Cut Ike and put Robin in
@asafjuarez1 same with link, his voice was so baddass, litterly the reason i stopped playing him
@@asafjuarez1Why keep Roy?
100%
He means it
I think one thing I noticed about 3rd party characters is Sakurai seems to consider the big 3 to be Sonic, Ryu, and Cloud.
Here are the specifics:
* In Cloud's reveal trailer, it shows him taking on Mario, Ryu, and Sonic.
Speaking of Ryu
Throw in these SF characters in the next game
Throw in Chun Li

@@TheGameCubicle Lucario is super popular, the poster child of megas and also on Ash's team in the final championship. He should stay.
Please don’t cut anyone
I think that would be the best option if possible but realistically I think they may have issues getting licensing deals for all the 3rd party characters again.

L Take
Need to cut the echo's and give them real moveset.
Roy > every fire emblem
I like pitting Lord Roy against Roy Koopa & joking about how Roy is gonna win.
@ truly the best of Roy moments
They should remove all unnecessary and most of the irrelevant characters and rework the outdated characters they will stay in
Honestly I'm hoping the next Smash has A smaller roster! That way we can get side content, revamped movesets. (Original 12) And maybe even A new sub space? (I'm thinking A roster between the size or brawl or melee. )
Here’s how my version of the roster would look for Smash Bros. 6:
50 returning characters:
1. Mario: (gets a slightly revamped moveset, also gets a much better final smash)
2. Luigi: (gets a slightly revamped moveset)
3. Peach: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect Princess Peach Showtime, also gets Daisy as part of her alt skins)
4. Rosalina & Luma: (moveset stays pretty much the same, also gets a much better final smash)
5. Bowser: (gets a slightly revamped moveset, also final smash changes into Fury Bowser instead of Giga Bowser and gets more variation instead of just one punch like breathing giant fireballs and then doing one powerful punch)
6. Yoshi: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
7. Wario: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to have more references to the Wario Land series)
8. Donkey Kong: (gets a slightly revamped moveset)
9. Diddy Kong: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
10. King K. Rool: (moveset stays pretty much the same but with slight tweaks to help make him more competitively viable)
11. Link (Adult) most likely referenced to the BOTW & TOTK version but would still have alt skins referencing the classic Zelda games: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reference more of BOTW & TOTK, but also gets his classic claw shot grab tether back)
12. Zelda (referenced to the same Smash Bros. Ultimate Link Between Worlds version because I think she looks & sounds cute in that version, if it’s not going to be her default skin at least make it one of her alt skins): (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect Echoes of Wisdom & help make her more competitively viable)
13. Ganondorf (most likely referenced to the TOTK version, but also comes with other versions from the Zelda series as alt skins): (gets a fairly revamped moveset to help make him more competitively viable and make him less of a Captain Falcon clone by giving him moves that are reflective of what he does in the Zelda series)
14. Samus: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to reflect the modern Metroid games)
15. Ridley: (gets a slightly revamped moveset)
16. Kirby: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to help make him more competitively viable)
17. Meta Knight: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
18. King Dedede: (moveset stays pretty much the same but with slight tweaks to help make him more competitively viable)
19. Fox: (moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe gets Falco as part of alt skins)
20. Pikachu: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
21. Mewtwo: (moveset gets slightly revamped to help make him more competitively viable)
22-24. Pokémon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard): (moveset stays pretty much the same)

31. Mr. Game & Watch: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
32. Pit: (moveset gets slightly revamped to reflect more of Kid Icarus Uprising, maybe also gets Dark Pit as part of alt skins)
33. Olimar: moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe also incorporate things from the newer Pikmin games)
34. R.O.B.: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
35. Villager: (moveset gets slightly revamped to combine aspects of both Villager & Isabelle)
36. Little Mac: (moveset gets fairly revamped to help make him more competitively viable)
37. Shulk: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
38. Inkling: (moveset stays pretty much the same, maybe also incorporate things from the newer Splatoon games)
39. Bayonetta: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
40. Sonic: (gets a fairly revamped moveset to make him play more similarly to his version from Sonic Battle and to also reflect other newer Sonic games)
41. Snake: (moveset stays pretty much the same)
42. Simon: (moveset stays pretty much the same, also comes with Richter as part of alt skins)

49. Sephiroth: (gets a slightly revamped moveset to help make him a bit more powerful)
50. Sora: (gets a slightly revamped moveset to allow him to use more abilities)
Plus 10 to 15 newcomers for the base game giving us all in all 60 to 65 characters for the base game, plus 10 to 15 DLC characters giving us anywhere from 70 to 80 characters for the entire game.
How about no more 3rd Party Characters and remove them from The Same Games they left Unfinished

They need to work on The Same Smash Games by adding some more Characters and Stages without Remasters nor anything like that
For third parties, I say Sonic, Mega Man, Pac-Man, Simon Belmont, and Ryu are mainstays for the series because of the deep history their franchises have with Nintendo amd their iconic statuses.
Almost forgot Banjo. He has like a 75% chance of staying IF Microsoft lets him stay.
1st Party Characters again only.
Olimar’s probably getting cut since he literally gets hated for unknown reasons
Idk about characters being cut, but all fighters have been made into amiibos
@@madmangameshd2490 Sort of, we have an amiibo for every fighter slot but some characters that where treated as alternative skins like Alph (Olimar) & the Koopalings (Bowser Jr.) still need official amiibo's.

I’m the kind of guy who thinks that smash is a game that revolves around having everyone’s favorite game characters in the game. That being said I think you could get rid of pichu, toon link, min min, doc, and especially game and watch. I think they should get rid of all the characters who nobody says “hey my favorite video game character is min min from arms”
Yes I agree. Popularity is a big part of it.
an important clarification: doctor mario is NOT mario mario. He is a separate character entirely, so I think he should stay
beyond that I think Pichu and Toon link could just be skins for Pikachu and Link, because functionally they're the same
@@MingRubfes wait really? I always thought they were the same??
@@EthanKnitessb No, doctor mario is canonically a different person who more than likely has never even met Bowser unless he's made an appointment
@@MingRubfesbowser making an appointment for something like an itchy throat is hilarious to me however I think my point still stands because I don’t think anybody’s favorite video game character is doctor Mario tbh I don’t think he belongs for the same reason ibdont think min min belongs
Now, if there only one third party franchise that you would keep in smash, who would it be?
Sonic and it’s not even close
Bayonetta. 'Nuff said. 😤
Square Enix so they can finally add Geno. I guess we would get Cloud & Sepheroth back to. I think Sora is owned by Disney so unfortunately he's out even if Square Enix made him.
They should go back to finishing The Unfinished Smash Games that aren’t Final Version like this.
Forgot to mention that Toon Link and Shiek fall into that 50% chance category.

Cut 3rd Party Characters
Just revamp the Miis with abilities from miitopia.
Good suggestion! I’d also like more Wii sports references like a golf club. Or even just have them use Wii remotes and nunchucks as weapons.
Ike will stay
Lols we both keep the exact same 4 Fire Emblem characters cause let’s be real, Marth’s the face of the franchise, Ike’s the popular male character of Fire Emblem, Robin’s from the entry that saved the series and Byleth’s from the best selling entry, I do say Lyn & Ephraim should be newcomers, Lyn really should’ve been playable and not an assist trophy considering her game was the first one we were ever exposed to and Ephraim just to have a traditional lance user
I’d also say keep Lucario since he’s the only one repping the DS console as the DS doesn’t have that many characters to choose from that debut on the system other than Sylux
Rob better stay.
10:18 im crying.
I know people like him haha that’s why I’m on the fence
Just 1st Party Characters
Smash don't need any more Gen 1 Pokémon in the roster
Maybe Garchomp instead of Dragonite
@@TheGameCubicleMaybe we could get another version of Pokémon Trainer where they could be called Gym Leader instead, maybe it could be Cynthia if we wanted to have Garchomp as one of her options.
Didn’t Sakurai say he isn’t making another smash game, pretty sure ultimate is the last one planned unless you know something I dont
There is no way the next Nintendo console wouldn't have a Super Smash Bros whether Sakurai makes it or not
He never says that. He always says he treats each Smash as if it's going to be the last, a way to ensure it doesn't turn out lackluster
@@dannybright8708True, backwards compatibility with Ultimate could mean Smash gets a break this go around.

@@TheGameCubicle Piranha plant is the goat.
Falco is unique enough and important to Star Fox and Smash to stay. Sheik has a shot since OoT is still considered one of the greats of all time and Sheik has a major hand in why. Kind of agree on the rest though.
They should have Some More Characters & Stages added on The Same Smash Games respectively
Is it gonna be a bad cutting that throws the likes of ROB and Wii Fit Trainer under the bus for no good reason, we'll see
Edit: so it was Shit/10
There'll be a massive cut to the roster. How massive? This is what I speculate:
●Ness, Captain Falcon and Jigglypuff are in danger of being cut.
●Virtually almost no 3rd party veterans will return
●Most characters deemed too conceptually similar to other existing characters will be cut (Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Isabelle)
●A lot of Pokemon will be culled so that only Pikachu and maybe Mewtwo remains
●Little Mac and some of Kid Icarus gets cut
●Many retro character-designated reps like G&W, Ice Climbers, Duck Hunt and ROB get cut
A lot of the logic comes really from logistics as well as cutting away series from the roster that are more or less deemed dead.
Knuckles,shadow,and tails
With Shadow being a Sonic echo I think it could definitely be possible to get that many Sonic reps.
Hopefully we'd get a stage from that series that isn't just grass as well.
Maybe we can get Sunset Heights as a stage from Sonic Forces, but have the spectacle of the stage from Shadow Generations.

Just my opinion guaranteed knowing Nintendo we'd be getting a new Pokémon Fighter and likely more Fire Emblem reps as well Since Nintendo loves those franchises
Of course the most selling videogame ever gets cut cquse you dont like him lol
opinion invalidated
@Arctyx_Xoit's actually not because I don't like Sora as a character it's because the Disney Licensing is expensive and Sora doesn't feel right in Smash without Mickey Donald and Goofy as Cameo's
I am however not a fan of how floaty Sora is when playing as him
And if you're Talking about Minecraft Steve well I'd cut him because he's similar to the Animal Crossing Villager.
@@jam9852 ??? How is him similar to WHAAT???
@@AnormaIPerson3121simple Steve plays like a better Villager except a few gimmicks mostly building related he's not a unique character at all which is sad because Minecraft is a good game.
Geno HAS to be in the next Smash game, right?
With the Mario RPG remake it’s now or never. I still doubt it though.
remake or no remake, Geno will forever be a meme request in my eyes
Never. 😡
Should be official Nintendo again only
Easy all Fire Emblem characters
Get rid of the emblem fire characters and Pokémon fix sonic move set and put shadow in the game
All the Pokémon? That’s Nintendo’s 2nd biggest franchise!
Shadow as Sonic echo and Knuckles as own character. Eggman seems fun but I think he’d kinda play weird. Seems more like an assist trophy/stage hazard
How about Banjo Kazooie & Conker already in The Smash Games as Separated Standalone Characters
