Hi Pal, I wear industrial orange ear plugs when camp, to be honest I wear them every night sleeping next to someone that snores. Anyway that cuts down noise for me. It may have been prudent to double pole your tent in such conditions to prevent too much movement of the tent. I know those who purchased the Vern tents early in 2024 were supplied with thinner poles which have since been upgraded. Even so in the conditions double poling may have been best. Everyone has a different threshold when wild camping. Atb Taff 🤠👊
@@Taffwildmanofthewoods I didn’t have the luxury of double poles at this point and I had the new 9.5mm poles in as the tent was bought August this year 👍🏻 Now I have two sets, I can double pole 🕺🏻 Yeah it was just the noise + boredom. I’ve stayed in many harsh conditions but I can’t stand being bored 🤣🤣 Thanks for the ear plugs suggestion will have a look at those 👏🏻

@@bernardscott1783 Hi mate. Main reason was the views from the tent. Vern is amazing for sitting in your inner and looking out into the world. The Abisko is a side view. Secondly i love the look of the Vern. Thirdly it’s a free standing tent so the option to move when erect is a life saver and just contributes to that perfect pitch! There’s many more minor details but those are the main ones 👏🏻
Great vid. Some serious wind.. Well done in making the decision that's right for you and the experience you got from it. I had to do the same a couple of years back in my lanshan 1 pro. That's why my vern 1 pc is my bad weather tent of choice.. First time I used it in high winds I had to get back out to see if it had completely died down.. Nope just the material. Beast to carry but well worth it in my opinion. Had it in measured 50mph gusts. Watch the Paul messner vid in high winds with just so quiet.
Good shout mate, I'd have done the exact same thing. 👌 Great to see the Vern 1 holding it's own and maybe it would have been fine all night, but there's always that feeling of 'What if?' Keep yourself safe mate, there's always next time to get back out...Great video as always buddy, take care! 🏕️🏴👍
I know how stressful it is setting up in strong winds. Even 20mph feels horrendous. I did it last night, in the Ly1. Enjoyed the video. Looking back, do you still feel it was the right decision?
@@Fellmandave1 Hi Dave - I’ve saved your LY1 already to watch when I get home from work tonight 👍🏻🤣 love your vids! Yeah on reflection I still feel it was the right choice, I couldn’t have listened to that for another 5 hours! I feel the tent would’ve been solid throughout
@KieCamps wind camping in the Ly1 is being released tonight too at 3.30. You must have last weekends saved.I had ear plugs! The good wax ones are a must. I love the wind to be honest.
