  • Ended up last due to a vibration that developed 9 laps into a 11 lap race. Had to bring car in. Was so fun other than that!

    The Legends are just so fun to watch because they are so overpowered it is easy to get loose. This makes for a lot of lead changes and passing. Unlike other racing cars.

    My absolute 2 favorite cars together. Legends are awesome race cars. We have a series in Scotland that race at a beautiful and very tricky circuit called Knockhill. MX-5 are fantastic cars too.

      @rayyoder6545 They're very quick cars. I'd love to race one. Luckily, they're affordable in motorsport terms compared to many other race series.
      We have 2 championships in the UK. A Scottish Championship and a National UK Championship.
      When things go wrong. The crashes can be spectacular, too. The safety of these cars is excellent as well. I think I read somewhere that they have one of the best safety records of any race car.
      Did you see John Mickel's crash from the UK series?

    With this kind of heavy use how many hours engine and transmission last before rebuild?

    • @rockets4kids

      On Leno they said top-end re-builds at the end of each racing season. Clutch/trans probably depends more on how you drive. Definitely would like to hear more from people who actually race these.

    Question for you: are you using the clutch to downshift, or are you just blipping the throttle to rev match and then downshifting? Thanks.

      @@rayyoder6545 I'd say the mass of the driveshaft and coupler is acting like a heavy flywheel. compared to being on the bike with a little 14t sprocket and chain adding that extra weight along with the actual flywheel would add to rotating mass and would be difficult to rev match because of revs hanging, without feeling abusive. Just a feeling but in comparison my v twin Buell with heavier flywheel mass hates it but my Fzr 600 and GS 1100 both i4s and have lighter rotating mass and don't rev hang as much and click off gears like butter

      It’s a series the track itself puts on I believe. They just let the legends start at back of pack, I honestly had no idea legends was going to out run em like that, I was surprised. The race before was in the rain and I got left, These cars have no tire!

    I know this is a bit older, I've been eyeing the legends series for asphalt oval racing, does it take much to run the car on a road course and are the tires the same compound the oval guys use?

    • @evansclips
      @evansclips 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From what I have read and heard from others, it's the same tire whether it's asphalt oval or road course. The same compound, bias ply tire. Some outside sanctioning bodies (like SCCA and NASA) allow Hoosier slicks, but you won't find too many legends guys in those series. Legends are mostly viewed as oval racing cars in the states for whatever reason.

    • @AOGWardog1229
      @AOGWardog1229 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@evansclips ah okay, that's what I figured. Considering it's one of the cheapest spec series to get into, I'd figured it would be mostly uniform across the different disciplines.
      I think your answer that that would be that local short track racing is most prominent and as such legends is the most common series to see. Not saying that US road isn't still big, just saying that Asphalt oval and dirt oval takes majority of the legends racing in the US

  • @tombrewsaugh1399
    @tombrewsaugh1399 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Let's look at horse power to weight ratio, tire compound and contact patch, sequencel shift over a 5 speed gated shift. This is like comparing apples to oranges. Sure they look like a fun race car and I wouldn't mind seeing them at a local road course near me hell a friend of mine raced a baby grand for years at Sebring in the SCCA's super production under 2 litter class.

      The Miata is already street ready and a true reliable version of the British sports car. It has its own category in the Sports Car Club of America. The legends look like a ton of fun. But I can take the Miata on dates. It is a true Barchetta.
