I remembered when my dad used to play their songs whilst we were kids, I could literally sing all their songs even as a Nigerian child, I love them so much, I stumbled on them today and all I have is memories, LEGENDS
I GOT TO MEET THEM! ❤ I was a huge fan of Paul Simon as a teenager in the late 90's and early 00's. I grew up in a one horse town in northern California and LBM was going to perform in San Francisco. Our Choir teacher, a retired professional vocal coach, knew some people, pulled some strings, and was able to get them to come to our high school for a last minute concert. Almost no one had ever heard of them. I- on the other hand - was first in line for tickets. I purposely got a balcony seat so I could do all the dance moves without anyone seeing me. Afterwards, I chased after them and they gave me a photo of the group and each member autographed it for me. Still one of my prized possessions.
As A white South African I see this as a great moment in my countries history. A white man is humbled on stage by the power of the music that kept the blacks alive in a dark time. My respect and admiration to the power.
Am a Cameroonian and my uncle always played thier marvelous somgs every Morning and evening so i became use to. Am now alone but i played it nit just morning and evening, but all through the day. I love thier vocals, tongues, moves. Thier tooo sweet to listen. Go to the world the black mambazo
I must thank my mother for being cultured enough to make me watch this when I was a little girl when this tour first aired. I have refferred to it so many times over the years. Such good music it just warms the soul**warm n fuzzies**
Same here. Thanks 🙏 to my mom. I watched this concert at age 11 on VHS TAPE & fell in love. Always watch it after 4-5 years & still cry tears of joy. The melodies, talents (artist-musical genius) in this concert is beyond measure
I was fortunate to see them in a small 900 seat classic turn of the century (19th) Portsmouth NH Music Hall. I volunteered to usher and got to hang around after the show. I had tears coming down my cheeks too. Their music touches someplace in me that no one has ever done. I think it is the beauty of their harmonies.
As a volunteer teacher in Zim I attended this concert. It still remains one of the best ever....even after all this time. Fond memories of some inspirational people.
I've been fortunate enough to have seen them 6 or 7 times since I first discovered them through this concert and the Graceland album. They are proof positive that for all of the advancements made in musical instruments and electronics, the must powerful musical weapon is still the human voice.
Ah, LBM just performed tonight outside Washington DC and the sound was tremendous. Nine voices, no instruments, and their beautiful power goes through your soul. Plus their message is of God, togetherness, love, family and joy. The lead singer had his three grown sons in the group, one of whom is taking his place as front man. I felt privileged to hear them hear their famous "Homeless" and all the other songs.
Dear Lord... I'm 35yo and the first memory that I have with my father (who lived in Africa ((Kiffa)) for several years) was watching Black Mambazo in 1996 when he came back home with a K7 tape. I can hear him now saying "Now listen carefully son, this is music". Jesus Christ how I miss that man ❤ God bless you and I hope your old man is at least as good as mine 🤝🏻
There's no way fam! I'm 36 and my old man lived in Mauritania too. Kiffa, Nouakchott and Néma. He still in touch with some friends from Senegal. And that's the very first Ladysmith song I've ever heard back in the day. VHS tape...damn man. What a small world!
GOD BLESS LADYSMITHBLACKMAMBAZO! My father got me interested in this concert! THIS was a fantastic concert that should have made history!!! I was 3 when i saw this on tv and i am now 24. History!!!
This is legendary. Zim had always been overwhelmingly fond of our musicians. I didn’t know this was in Harare. How blessed we are to have Black Mambazo and lasting through generations and proudly representing Africa all over the world
Watching this tonight and thinking about my ex girlfriend..We both love this fantastic group. We were on Bribie Island in Australia having a romantic time and listening to this beautiful African group.Jane, baby I still miss you😢❤❤❤❤

Back in 2006/7 my dad (now late) got us this track along with a collection of other African songs. We all loved this piece and will sing and dance along with them. Listening to this now in 2022 brought so much memory, not sad memories but good memories, peace, family time, laugher and dance. From Nigeria, we’re grateful for this song❤️❤️
This brings back sooo many memories from my Childhood. My mother and grandmother bought this as a VHS, and by the end of the summer we all sang along and did all the dances. Joseph Shabalala and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
I did my first trip to South Africa in 1986. I attended a clandestine theatre show in Cape Town titled "Asinamali". Blew me off stupid; I loved it. i was only 23 years old then. Paul Simon's album came out briefly after that, and then I realised that part of the "Asinamali" people were in fact the Ladysmith Black Mambazo :)
Fantastic singers, these three!!! You can feel the love that these three have for one another!!! Thank you Dolly, Emmylou and Linda, for your highly valued contributions to Music on earth!!!
Great singing, these guys should be place in the guiness book of world records for best acapalo group. I haven't check but I think they are in there already.

Listen to him sang his song with the black mambazo band.. made me fall inlove with South Africans. From his musics I also fall in love with lucky dube. The sad part is that i only found out that he passed away few min b4 typing this message. Love u Joseph. Love u ladysmith black mambazo.
I never get tired of listening to this awesome, tear provoking piece... these guys bear a mark of passion in what they do. I enjoy them more from 2:09, especially 3:04 when Shabalala appears to have reached a climax... excellent vocal harmony... can't stop repeating it... thanks for uploading
