Even if Joseph Shabalala had died having crossed a hundred years of age, I would still feel like he should have stayed a bit longer. Rest in perfect peace Prof. Joseph Shabalala-the Gentle Roaring Lion from Africa
Simply amazing. Maximum respect to Paul Simon for his appreciation, respect and love for South African Black music, which he beautifully popularized to the mutual benefit of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, himself and other African artistes and musicians.
Beautifully articulated tribute and speaking of truth. May African music, especially culturally traditional (and innovations), rightly thrive worldwide.
I think we black people have to say THANK YOU to Paul Simon ! Ladysmith Black Mambazo is a great group, but this person helped them to be known in the whole world today... he helped very much ! Almost in the Francophone speaking world (excusez- moi pour les fautes) 👏
II came across a Greece land tour cassette tape in my father's belongings in 1993. I was 14years then. I listened to that tape back to back for i don't know how many years. Still my greatest finds in music. I struck gold that year. 45 years old now and its still gold.
Mis Brink, I couldn't have said it any better. ❤️ watching this clip made my eyes to sweat a bit... I'm not teary though... Just the eyes sweating, having watched for too long I guess 😭
@1993 Yes we do have them and have had them for decades, born and bred within this beautiful Continent... Sons and Daughters of the soil. They are us and we are them! They are Africans with different melanin... If didn't know or believed it, not I bet you do
Used to listen to this song on our then state run radio station in Kenya called KBC.. This kinda music never grow old, i call it music for the soul.. Love from Kenya 🇰🇪
I remember these songs when I was i kindergaten. I told my mum about it she was amazed about how far I can remember stuff. Now im 31 but im so glad I found it. I never understood back then but now Im still amazed with Paul Simons songs
I can't recall the first time I heard this song. But everytime I listen or hear, something deep inside me is triggered. Like my roots, an ancestors' call. Thanks to them to make this happen in my life.
This just goes to show and to prove that food is the music of love and when everybody just gets on and sing together there is no end to the miraculous that can happen. God bless you for being part of the ocean of human kindness in this crazy time.

I was 12 when my Father and I would play this cassette in his Landrover travelling Cape York of Australia. Raised by my Father since I was 9 I still play these songs at 50 and gives me goosebumps .
I saw Paul Simon, Miriam Makeba, Hough Masekela, I think, and the Lady Smith Black Mambazo singers in Lasarte, Guipúzcoa, Spain, around 1990. Unforgettable!
Worked on one of his documentaries of how the songs with came about... his on and off friendship with childhood friend Art Garfunkel. And how the South African band had to wade through the constraints of apartheid to record their songs. It's a documentary that deserves a Netflix Special cos it's an emotional roller-coaster type of documentary and tells you how great humans can be when we show a little love! He showed great love and respect to the Ladysmith Black Mambazo band!
This song is stirring up emotions in me...sad ones 😞 sad for the state of the world. Without God we are all homeless and crying. Much love to the world and seek out the true God because He's in search of you.
Rest in Peace Joseph Shabalala, you made my childhood memorable. You were one of the people that made me fall helplessly in love with South African music. Happy Coronation today, Tuesday February 11th 2020😭😭😭
