I wish there were more Sybil scenes to make up for the time she wasn't there. Matthew always had a soft spot for Sybil, he treated her like a little sister he was proud of :) Warmed my heart. And I love how both Matthew and Sybil brought out the best in Mary always.

Sybil was actually supposed to end up with Matthew 😮

@@emmalucia1412 Yes, I read that too. they were supposed to start liking each other after Matthew rescued her from that riot but because Dan and Michelle's onscreen chemistry was so good Fellowes went with them as a couple. I often wondered if Fellowes regretted that when Dan and Jessica did not want to renew their contracts for there more years. It would have been a lot easier. He could have had them move to Manchester with them still providing an heir for Robert.

They should have left the scene with Edith and her father in. It's a beautiful moment. Would have been nice to see that side of her in season one.

For some reason I don't have deleted scenes on my dvd's so it was nice to see this. Imagine Mrs Patmore and Mrs Hughes going at each others' throats like that! And they were such good friends later on. Loved the scene between Edith and her father. Her looks sure improved over the 6 years the show was on.

considering the first season took place right around the time of the sinking of the Titanic and the current season is in 1925, I must say that each character has aged exceptionally well over 13 years!

    • @mprkg
      @mprkg 7 ปีที่แล้ว +52

It took 6 years to film Downton from 1912-1925. And Mary and Edith did age in real life, and on the show. Cora actually looks better in the final season than the first. Daisy didn't really age at all though. Carson's and Robert's hair went white. Edith changed the most on the show- from pale and frumpy, to looking better than Mary in the end

That scene in Episode 1 with Robert and Edith is so different from other scenes. I doubt Alistair was around when they shot it. So much touching and hugging, like it didn’t happen in the early 1900s. They almost never used close ups like they did here. What a different the music makes!

IF Edith, Mary, and Robert knew Patrick Crawley so well, his height, face, why didn't they see that Patrick Crawley in Season 2 was a fake. The worst Downton episode ever! Even if his face was burned, they would recognize his body, eyes, etc.

    Love
Downton Abbey, then you will love C.A MacRae's Gemini Complex, The Cabal: After
the final demise of the Cathars at Chateau Mount Montségur in the south of
France in 1244, a heroic rescue by a Knights Templar took place. Six hundred
and fifty-three years later a murder and spate of suspicious deaths of the
clergy become linked in the south of France. Flo’s first day (10th November
1918) at Chandringham doesn’t work out quite how she imagined. A bright but
humble farm girl finds herself thrust into the upper echelons of society.
Rather than being trained in the everyday tasks of a maid, she’s told she needs
to leave her old life behind and immerse herself in the life of the
aristocracy, as Lady Mary Tavistock. Her world is turned upside down, Flo
realises she’s not the person she’s always thought she was and to make matters
worse she finds out her life is endangered. In order to make sense of who she
really is and what her purpose in life is, she’s sent to Switzerland to meet
others of her kind. the first book of a trilogy. It's going to be released
    later this year.
