    This is the kind of suite you need for those long, 2 day crossings from Hokkaido! 2.5 hours just isn’t long enough to fully enjoy such a lavish setup!

    • @SoulOfJustice1994
      @SoulOfJustice1994 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agreed! Only, it would get more expensive depending on the length of the voyage.

      This is the 3rd video of someone buying one of these large rooms with a bed for a 2-3 hour trip. I know they want to show us what is offered but it seems extreme to me.

    • @flu77erluv
      @flu77erluv ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @CherylSoergel - it’s absolutely extreme, BUT we wouldn’t know about it or be able to ask ‘why?’ or be curious and find answers if we never knew about it.
      The ‘real’ question is ‘why’ they would build a room that’s basically the size of a house, on a ferry ride that only takes 2.5hrs? Especially when the room looks like a cross between a bedroom and an office.
      Do people hold big business meetings and bring their families with them from one port to the next?
      Do family gatherings/reunions happen on ferries?
      What is the cost of the room compared to the others?
      Is it worth it to the ferry line to be able to charge for this huge room once in a while, as opposed to the smaller, less expensive rooms?
      Was this a fluke and they just made the most of it?
      If you were insanely wealthy and automatically reserved the most expensive suite/flight/cruise/etc because the cost means nothing to you, is the ferry service making money because lots of wealthy people travel between those ports?
      “Be curious. Not judgmental.”
      - Walt Whitman
      Asking questions is the best way to find answers and finding answers is the best way to not be wrong when you ‘guess’.

      I get it. It's 30 years old. But they could at least remodel it so it doesn't look like it's 30 years old! Even the beds look like the original beds. This is one sad old fugly suite! YUK

    It was kind of eerie in that suite. You could definitely tell it was designed in the 90's but the room was much better maintained than one would imagine. I suppose it doesn't get very heavy use. I would have peeked into every door, drawer and cupboard and then wandered the private deck.

The TV is turning on automatically, maybe the default setting is standby and can be turned on centrally, but still can be turn off by passenger. Suite and Special room definitely huge for that duration of the trip, but it's looks good if you staying in there as a couple or group.

    A suite suitable for a board meeting before treating themselves to a snack of curry and rice with noodles and seaweed. (I liked how the balcony was in the lee of the ship's superstructure.) Then back home (1st class, of course) to put the board's decisions into practice. These ferry companies have got it all figured out, you know; you just skewed their reasoning a little!
    I thought the entrance hall quite spartan in comparison to other ferries you have taken us on.

It's near there, where the night buses wait for passengers. Also, there's little tiny boats you can take a trip in, ladies steer the boats. It's a fun thing to do on Sado.

    This is a private party space for a small corporate retreat I think. And, well, beds if someone needs to lie down. But the rest of it screams, "Team building afternoon on nearby island, drinks served in the meeting room on the way there."

    • @ShaggyRogers1
      @ShaggyRogers1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be for a family or other group outing, not necessarily just corporate groups. A family of 4-6 would definitely find plenty of use from all that suite space, since anyone with kids of varying age can tell you that it is tough to keep everyone busy but also keep track of everyone. The price jump makes a lot more sense when you think about it from the perspective of being able to split the upgrade cost down per passenger in the group, and the various spaces mean that different people can take naps, watch tv, etc all in the suite without worrying about having to watch everyone on the large ship.

    I think because the Japanese take care of almost every aspect of everything 😂 this room looks like it's out of a time capsule from the 90s it's fantastically preserved

    I calculate on a 2.5hour journey you could spend 8 mins 48 seconds in each chair/bed they give you including one toilet.

    This trip is similar to that of Hiroshima to Matsuyama by traveling time, but the car ferries serving that route are nothing compared to the "Okesa Maru"... This entire ship looks like an overkill for this trip, and the luxurious suite is indeed ridiculous (in a good way) - I think it's entire purpose is that its (huge) price makes every other price on board look affordable. :) Thanks for sharing!

    Hopefully the yakuza boss wasn't too angry that you stole his usual room!

    That is a truly impressive suite, although it does seem quite excessive to have this as an option for such short trips XD

    10:10 You get first dibs on the lifeboat too, looks like! Maybe you can sell (or pitch) Curry Flavored Oreos.

    What a huge suite, so relaxing to be in. Fyi I really liked the pattern on the wall paper and door. I guess this ferry must do much longer trips so you can sleep overnight? Thanks Laurie. NZ.

    If I had the money I would travel in this suite for the rest of my life!

    Wow that was a large suite for so short a route! Must have been for business meetings, or large families. I can understand being uncomfortable there all alone.
