    I was told long, long, ago when I was in my early teens by a doctor who tried to treat my amblyopia that the biggest impediment was that, somehow, my brain had compensated so much for the amblyopic eye that the treatments at the time would be largely ignored by my vision. I'm also farsighted in my good eye, not nearsighted, so my vision in my good eye wasn't affected much. I'm guessing the second thing was what allowed me to deal with it so easily. I'd been wearing glasses since I was about 3 years old (born in 1970).
    My biggest issue has been finding doctors that don't act like my amblyopic eye isn't even there. I use it for peripheral vision, to a degree that I'll get disoriented if it's covered. I don't actually, consciously see much out of the eye but every time I see a doctor who proposes just putting a blank lens over it...well, I know I use the eye, even if it doesn't seem like I do. So I just go find another doctor who, hopefully, knows more about my problem.

      Yes that’s pretty much part of what we deal with. Often the brain has to suppress the faulty part in order to gain as much function as it can. You are welcome to schedule a consultation to discuss your case further!

    I recently discovered that I have amblyopia in my left eye during a medical examination at my college. I had never noticed this condition before, as my right eye has 6/6 vision. After the diagnosis I asked my ophthalmologist for treatment, but he informed me that this condition is typically challenging to treat after childhood. I am 18 years old and from Pakistan. Can you provide some guidance to treat this condition

    Would improvement in the bad eye cause double vision, since the binocular vision doesn't exist? What about allignement?

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Regaining binocularity is possible hence this would not be a problem. We typically also work on other aspects of vision that includes alignment and the elimination of astigmatism.

      Congratulations! Glad you are happy with where you are. After 22yrs and thousands of patients I will say that most cases are not as simple as they appear, especially if one is seeking maximum possible positive outcome in the long term.
      For example, what you speak of relates to improving eyesight but then there’s binocularity (stoping suppression) and stereopsis.
      But, It is up to each individual to decide what they wish to do with their Vision given the implications not only in the short term but for the rest of their life.
      Thanks for sharing. 🙌🏼
