    I am overwhelmed with grattitude. I went to the opticians with headaches and double vision. I was asked to immediately go to the Eye Causualty... which long story short lead to a 7 day stay in hospital and a diagnosis of a Brain illness called Functional Neurological Disorder. So please never take eyes for granted. Thank you once again to Riya the optician!! Kelisha Robinson

    Three years ago, I was sent to PT place in Lincoln, NE. The Optometrist put in yoked prisms (1D, BD). It was supposed to help me feel the ground better. It had the opposite effect. Since that time, I feel like I am being pushed into the ground. It has been hell.

      Sorry to hear that. If you’ve been around this channel for a while you likely know Dr. Steinhauer’s opinion of prisms and their actual role which is unfortunately often abused and used as a crutch.
      If you need a second opinion you are welcome to schedule a consultation online with Dr. Steinhauer.
      Happy Holidays!

    I was "diagnosed" with BVD half a year ago. Looking back at my joutney its been so tough and difficult. I havent said it to anyone but the cause of it is for sure a bad trip caused by weed, and followed up a very disturbing video which was traumatizing, it had an instinctive traumatizing effect in the brain because of a person that was moving in a unorthodox way, litterally gave me derealisation as a motor accident where you go flying, same effect. Im sure it was traumatic brain injury. Had really bad panick attacks for the first time in my lif for 1,5 weeks and after that in ghe following weeks/months the anxiety would come and go but there was really bad vertigo light sensitivty, everything was dark as if you was punched in the eye and recovering. Light double vision and i would just feel so bad 24/7. But what i noticed was that the anxiety wasnt present when it was dark and i was sleeping. So i thougth might be linked to vsion. So eventually got diogosed and got prism glasses. After 5 months couldnt take it anymore i felt really bad again was super fatigued and just had visiual discomfored. Now I started lenses again and really had to adjust to them but i got light therapy with the filter glasses. But I had to go back to my old non prism glasses while waiting for new lenses and I was wondering why My vision just go wild changing from glasses to lenses, is it the distance of the lens and the glasses to the eye? I also just feel disconnected ever since i got my old glasses back on. Sometimes i just wanna get my brain checked out. Why are changing between Prism glassss, to old glasses, to lenses such a big impactful step. It is really tough to adjust. Back and forth I want to stick to lenses from now on and hope I get my life back. I feel like an alzheimer patient sometimes

      Hi there. Thanks for sharing. Yes we see people regularly for neurological complications that seemed to have been triggered by recreational drugs.
      As for your specific case and it’s presenting issues, since you are being treated by someone else I’m not sure what exactly is going on there or what approach they are using as are many variables involved. I would assume the lens power is different. What has your Dr. said about it?

    My cousin’s husband is in his 60’s and has double vision. He has not been given hope from doctors he went to in Los Angeles. They moved to Springfield, IL this past year. One of his eyes is turned in. Could this therapy be successful for him even at his age?

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there. Absolutely!
      We have dealt with patients much older and truth is the eyes and visual acuity gets more important for stability as one gets more advanced in age. It also feels great to know you are capable, free and aren’t losing it simply because the eyes aren’t functioning as they should.
      Since Springfield is over an Hr from our office, he can schedule an online consultation with Dr Steinhauer at www.visionforlifeworks.com.
      Looking forward to seeing him on the schedule!

    I have double vision in one eye..my dominant eye. I am a tennis player, so this is very challenging

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kirk, we have helped many with the same condition and this is something that we likely can help you with if you are serious about resolving it. As an athlete, in addition to proper binocularity you also would most improve your performance with improved tracking and ability as this would be very important in tennis. You are welcome to schedule a consultation to discuss your case and how we can help you further if you wish. You can do so by visiting us at www.visionforlifeworks.com and selecting schedule a consultation. Thanks for being here!

    Could you help my daughter with cn IV palsy with IO overaction on the left side? Disorder of left trochlear nerve. The specialist said vision therapy would not help her. We have already spent a ton of money and would like to know if you could help before paying for consult.

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tasha, If we had a list of people of who were told by their “specialist” that Advanced Vision Therapy would be no use or that their condition was permanent, this list would be very long and there would be a lot more people out there in the world living with things that they need not live with, simply because some other expert as a great philosopher puts it “assume the limit of their field of vision to be the limits of the world.”
      In simple words. Yes we can help and have helped others with same or similar presenting condition. Of course to get all the details is why a consult is needed.
      Looking forward to seeing you both on the schedule!
      Thanks for your comment.

    If the therapy is successful and condition is reduced, does the patient need to do maintenance therapy otherwise will the condition return?

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there, yes just like with braces there is typically some maintenance of approx 15-20 mins. This is necessary due to the many regular things the eyes still have to experience that may put stress on the eyes. But the frequency depends on the individual. Some people may need it only once a month and others may need it twice a week. Thanks for your question.

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Btw the maintenance is done by the individual at their own time and schedule.

      Sorry to hear about the bullying. Yes we have great expertise in dealing with this issue. However you would need a someone over 18 to schedule a consult or get treatment. Can you get a parent to do that?

      Hang in there. It can be tough, but start exercising your eyes on your own. It helps a lot for most people. Find eye exercises on youtube and focus on the ones where you use both eyes. If you can come up with money seek out vision therapy. Also, play video games with your weak eye.

    Are you opposed to all prism glasses for BVD? Or can it be a combo of prisms plus therapy?

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi there, we use yoked prisms in glasses occasionally for strabismus but it is rare. We use prism flippers in training all the time. The difference is they are not for every day wear by the patient as this creates adaptations and progression of binocular problems.

    Do you have other places you do vision therapy from? In in southwestern NY.

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cindy, thought we responded to this already but the comment seemed to have either not made it or disappeared. Patients can either come into our office in Illinois (who live close to us,) or Remotely. In fact, we now have more remote patients from around the world as it is not only convenient (no traffic or travel), but it also ensures they get the right care for them and not just one that is close.

    • @visontherapy
      @visontherapy  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there, we have worked with patients with binocular diplopia, but I would need to know the specifics of your case as it may not be as straightforward at it appears and may be related to other things. I recommend you schedule a consultation to discuss this further as it will go a long way in making this determination for you. To schedule an online consultation please visit us at www.visionforlifeworks.com and click on schedule a consultation. Looking forward to seeing you on the consultation!
