OAHU'S MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH | Lanikai Beach vs Kailua Beach

- Here I visit OAHU HAWAII'S MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH - Lanikai Beach (in my opinion). We also stopped by Kailua Beach, which is nearby and also a very gorgeous beach. In this travel vlog, we took the bus across the island from Waikiki which took about an hour and a half. I also snorkeled at Lanikai Beach, where I saw numerous fish and even a sea turtle!
Not only is Lanikai my favorite Beach in Oahu, but the East/Windward Coast is my favorite area of the entire island. Stay tuned for my coming videos to see more hikes and adventures, including kayaking to the Mokulua Islands and hiking the Lanikai Pillbox for sunrise!

Lanikai beach is my favorite beach in Oahu! We lived in the windward side for 3 years and i miss it so much!!

We have a full day set aside to do exactly what you did. Bus from Waikiki to Kailua then to Lanikai. When we arrive at Kailua , we are heading to Agnes Portuguese Bake Shop (it’s actually a food truck that make hand made Malasadas) then over to Zippys to get some lunch to take to the beach. By that time the local bus should be not that far away to get to Lanikai.
The snorkelling looked great with fish swimming and a Honu (turtle) , I’m hoping we see the same 🤙
PS we are not hiring a car for the entire time we are there, but do have a car booked for two days to split the island into two. Windward side one day and through the middle to the North Shore second day.
Sounds like a busy but amazing day! The snorkeling at Lanikai is always great on my opinion, all the rocks and reefs make the water a lot more still and I’ve seen a lot of beautiful fish there. And that’s a great idea for using a rental car for the west and north part of the island.
Is there a parking lot available at Lanikai Beach?
No there isn’t unfortunately, I would recommend parking in the streets nearby or at Kailua’s parking lot and walking over
Is the water shallow in most areas or does it get deep fast from the shore
It’s pretty shallow but it does get deep maybe 30-50ft from shore
I agree Lanikai is the most beautiful beach in Oahu
It is pretty unreal, if there’s a more beautiful beach on the island then I can’t wait to go!
Is Uber accessible there? To go back to Wakiki
I believe so, but it might be a bit pricey!
Were you able to snorkel at Kailua beach?
Yes I was, but I honestly didn't see anything while doing so. Lanikai is infinitely better for snorkeling!

Those mountains in the back you referred to in Kailua are called "Ko'olau Range". (Ko-O-lau-u) the "au" sounds like "ou" as in "ouch" without the ch. Now add "L" with "au"....Lau.
It's Kai-lua not Kai-a-lua.
And just call the Twin islands, either Mokes or Twin Islands. 😀
Thanks for the tips! I’ve learned the name of the mountains and pronunciations since making my more recent Hawaii videos (I’m sure I can still improve more though!)
