    It’s Cawfee Milk. I remember eating NY System Weiner for $0.25 a piece. If you’re still there try Del’s Lemonade. And Saugy’s. The Weiner with a snap. Oh, and Rhode Island style Clam Chowder.

    I was just in Boston and Providence RI. We Uber'd from Boston to Providence $80+ tip - should have checked out Greyhound! But the fall colors were just spectacular. I've never been in New England in the fall - Wowzer. Dazzling! The area around Brown University in Providence is really great - gorgeous old homes (AKA "money pits." ) Gorgeous trees turning colors, hip atmosphere and very good food.

    Just a quick note, since you're on your way to Boston (you're probably already here). Some options for places to see/eateries to visit:
    Around the Boston Common (on Tremont: Lambert's Sandwiches...
    lambertsmarket.com)
    Around the corner(s) from the Old Burial Ground (Sam Lagrassa's for sandwiches)...samlagrassas.com
    Durgin Park (in the Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market area)...chowder and big prime ribs...also beans, scrod, etc.durginparkrestaurant.com
    Irish Pubs (for pub grub and good pours of Guinness): Mr. Dooleys (Fave of mine for the live music and NO TV) mrdooleys.com; An Tain (
    antainboston.com); Black Rose (blackroseboston.com).
    Also be sure to try some of the variety of coffee shops in the area NOT named Starbucks of Dunkin Donuts...Pavement, Cafe de Nero, etc...some are chains, true, but we do coffee well here in the Hub. SBux and DD are OK too...but you know!
    Lastly, for things to do:
    - Freedom Trail
    - Look around the Public Garden (Oldest in the country)
    - Walk down Newbury street and window shop (don't spend money, just window shop and dream of Christmas!)
    - Walk along the seaport...visit the Aquarium (including penguins!)
    - Visit the Public Library at Copley Square (oldest in the country and it has great inner courtyards to chill out in)
    - Mapparium at the Christian Science Center
    Hope these suggestions help...keep up the great work you two!
    Mike

    Next time try a pizza at either Caserta's in Providence or Twin's in North Providence. Go to Central Falls for a Stanley burger. Find somewhere on the south shore that has some RI clear chowda. Then go to Hartley's Meat Pies in Lincoln. You will not regret any of those. Particularly RI culture with all of them.

  • @Qrofol
    @Qrofol 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Not sure about the one you tried, but coffee milk is my favorite way to drink "coffee". Same reason why I love coffee ice cream - they're very similar in taste. Refreshing, cold, sweet and with a dab of coffee flavor. Surprised you hadn't tried it before.

  • @danimartin818

    Next time, you need to try clam cakes and chowda! RI has its own kind of chowda separate from New England style but both are awesome and there is nothing like dunking a clam cake into your chowda! Dels is seriously the best drink on the planet when it is hot. Right now, I wish I could get some whole belly fried clams which it seems, do not exist outside of New England. I think outside of New England, they just fry up some elastics (rubber bands for non-Rhode Islanders) and call that fried clams. ;) RI also has its own kind of pizza, only it isn't really pizza. It's really just thick bread with tomato sauce/paste, it's served at many a RI get-together and somehow manages to be really delicious despite the fact that it is not really pizza and has no cheese. And for dessert, try a doughboy! Maybe get an Italian grinda for the road. ;)

  • @markpmar0356
    @markpmar0356 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Well, I know this is an old vid but your question about coffee milk should get a good answer. The drink wasn't intended as the boutique item you tried, it's origin and best examples are humble. RI Coffee Milk is whole milk flavored with either Autocrat or Eclipse coffee-flavored syrup. These two brands are still available in stores here and coffee milk itself is easy to make. Both syrups have a distinctive coffee flavor but they're also sweet. You can make your serving the way you want it. The NY System Coffee Milk is this way, I'm not sure what the Dave's recipe is.

    I know this is an old video but I just found it. Holy s#it $2.50 for one gaggah, does anyone else remember getting them 5 for a buck? And the onions back then were always minced, over the years places started to just chop them😮‍💨The last time I bought one they were $1.10 to $1.25, haven't made them in a while either. The way y'all described the foo foo coffee drink, doesn't sound at all like RI cawfee milk at all, it's simply milk flavored with either Autocrat or Eclipse coffee-flavored syrup, I personally prefer Autocrat. Growing up, then partially raising my kids there, the summers were always the best. Loved digging for clams, always had a knife to open some while digging🤤the steamers were the best, from ocean to the pan, unbelievably delicious! I sure doo miss it!😮‍💨

    Atleast called it a wiener, then said tastes like a hotdog.. 😡. At olneyville NY system it's a specially made wiener, ask for hot dog go to back of line if busy, or thrown out, other places around RI sell NY style wieners but not sane everywhere, all have a take on a Greek chili/meat sauce. Wienorama has more allspice in it and awesome. Can buy autocrat coffee syrtand milk make own. You got high end stuffie lol, usually clams, Ritz crackers, butter and seasonings, chorizo/linguica.. but seafoody? Clams? Must be bad? Thought were foodies? Calamari is awesome when done right, depends how long cooked.

    Not just mustard. Yellow mustard. Anything else is heresy. You come in and ask for rosemary Dijon and you get kicked out. And whatever you do, NEVER as for ketchup. You will get Dijon before that LOL

    Glad you enjoyed our state. Wieners at Onleyville New York System is the best. They have a special with both weiners and coffee milk. Yum! Coffee milk is Rhode Island’s “state” drink, u mentioned national. I’ll vote for that! Second place was Del’s lemonade. Enjoyed your video! Thx.

    I grew up in Providence. Great choice with NY System and coffee milk, they are local staples. For seafood, I would have put clam cakes and chowder at the top of that list. The best places IMO are Jimmys Portside in Galilee, so it’s about 45 mins south of providence (driving). Maybe just as good is Iggy’s in Warwick, this is maybe a 20-25 min drive south of providence, not really a bike distance, grab an Uber. Grab a Del’s frozen lemonade to finish off the day.

    Born and raised in providence.. I have no clue why anyone would come here ... there’s nothing here 😂😂 also, I got respect for these white people. They not even from here and they went straight to olneyville. That’s brave lol

    Damn you -- Now I want a gagger all the way and a coffee cabinet. Signed stuck at work in RI. HAhahaha Great vid. Next time you're in RI find a Portuguese place that serves either blade meat sandwiches or otherwise known as caciola

    You should have had the coffee milk at the NY system. What you had is a Fancy Starbucky version of it. You would have gotten the real deal in Olneyville.

    The beer looked best to me. The weiners weren't very appealing, especially the meat sauce, and I don't like clams. To me they taste like mud! And I'm very picky about calamari.

    Our dad used to take us kids quahogging and he would make stuffies. I do miss the ease and accessibility of getting fresh seafood.
