  • This video will show you how to replace the cabin air / air conditioner filter on your 2001-2008 Toyota Corolla (E12 Model). I also show how to disinfect the air conditioner duct piping of this model using a special air conditioning system cleaning spray sold at Toyota.
This is very easy tutorial for a cheap and easy maintenance procedure that everybody can perform at home. Do it yourself and save some money :-)

You can also just turn on the fan to high and make sure recirculation is off, then spray Lysol into air intake in front of windsheild (keep windows open). Save some bucks. I also keep a box of Arm and Hammer baking soda (the one for fridge and freezer) in cabin and replace it every couple of months.

Cleaning air duct is a waste of time. The place you should clean is air conditioning evaporator. Find in the car chassis a tube that drains water from the aircondition and put this Toyota product there. And if not able to do that simply to use an ozone generator. They are cheap now and you have it forever.

So it's been seven years since this was posted and it's still telling people to point air flow arrows up. I wonder how many people believe this and are installing replacement cabin air filters upside down?
All horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow direction including Toyotas.
It's really simple to determine air flow direction. When you see dirt collecting on top of the old filter it's obvious that dirty unfiltered air enters the top of the filter and clean air then enters the blower motor below the filter to be distributed through the vents. If it was the other way around then all that dirt and debris would be trapped below the filter and inside the blower which makes zero sense.
The word "UP" on the Toyota parts and filter simply means "This Side Up". It does NOT indicate air flow direction. So if your new filter says up then point the arrows up but if it says "air flow" like most aftermarket filters including the one in this video, then it should point down in the direction of air flow.
