A majority of people on youtube don't have a clue on how to set up or shoot archery nor guns, your draw length doesn't look too long. You did the right thing by getting checked out by a bow tech.
Great video, cool to see how in the other video it appeared the draw length was wrong, but it was actually more of an anchor correction. A lot of videos jump to the professional level immediately, so watching you grind through figuring it out one step at a time is cool.
I never had a mentor in archery growing up and I am really humbled to have the opportunity to learn from Bud. I have so much to learn and I really appreciate your comment
Its awesome that he got you all set up sharing his knowledge along the way. Also awesome he let you record and make a video. I enjoyed every second of it. Good content
Good video! Ive been shooting for 20+ years and still find myself struggling with getting a perfect draw length and anchor sometimes, especially since I had to start wearing glasses. Even if you have been shooting for a while, its great to have someone help you and point out issues that you might not be able to "see" that they can.
I really appreciate that!! And the one thing that I really admired about Bud was that he really took the time and was patient with me. I have a lot to learn and it is really awesome to work with someone like him
@@DylanJustesen1 yes it's hard to find a good shop like that. My local shop is ok, but they won't go out of their way too much unless you have just bought a new bow or something. Good news is I'm in the market for a new one lol
He needs to shorten his release so he can hook the release and that will make his draw length feel shorter .but you can adjust with d loop to find tune the feel.
Right after we filmed, Bud was like, "you need to shorten your release!" so I have spent the past few days trying to adjust my anchor points off the changes. But it is crazy how you saw that as well!!
I’m not trying to tell you what to do ,but you need to wrap your index finger deep around you finger . If it was me I would lern to shoot a hinge right off the bat . A great first hinge would be the trueball sweet spot pro flex with a safety. You will thank me later.point is I wish I switched to a hinge or someone would have explained to me how the hinge works. Surprise release is the key to shooting good. And once you lern how to activate a hinge ,you can go to a thumb or index and activate it properly. Lots of videos out on how to activate them properly. Love your videos.
Shorten that release a half inch so your hand anchors into your jawline. You're still punching the trigger with the fingertip pad and not curled around the trigger.
Right after we had got done filming, Bud pointed that I was still punching the trigger and had me shorting my release! I am working a lot on that this week
One thing I like to do is close my eyes and then anchor, open my eyes and see if my peep is off. I remembered to do this AFTER I had already setup my LIFT 33 and low and behold I discovered I was tucking into the peep and it was too low.
I have been closing my eyes this week while I have been practice to see how off my peep is and after a little bit of dialing it in, I think I have it all figured out! But my next video is going to be me working on my anchor points
@@DylanJustesen1 just curious cuz I was stuck between 28.5-29 with a 71.5 wingspan. Like he said tho rather short then long so my bows set at 28.5 aswell
I have heard that as well. But I feel like the bow i just picked up is pretty close. I was shooting the Bear Resurgence LD when I shot this video but I just got the Alaskan XT and it is pretty slick
Open up your stance a little at a time to keep from hitting your arm ,your draw length looks pretty good maybe shorten it up a little more .play with it it tell it feels the best for you. Great video.
You’re punching that tigger! Not good. You’re not pulling through the shot with back muscles. Seriously, watch “ bow only outdoors “ on TH-cam. Look at his setup for using a trigger. Try it. Get a release you can shorten up so the finger hooks deeply over the trigger to the inside joint. You may need a longer d-loop? This setup will greatly improve your steadiness as you are using larger back muscles to pull. This inherently causes everything to get more steady. Trust me, this works. GOOD LUCK!
Punching the trigger has been one of my biggest issues! After we got done filming, Bud was like, “shorten your release!!” I have spend the past three days working on that trigger release as well as my new anchor point. I do appreciate you commenting. It helps me see where I am lacking and what I need to learn

Downwind rocks! Big shout out.... Thanks for the video.
Downwind is awesome!! You will have to tell Bud how much of a stud he is the next time you see him!!
Hope we had o bow thec like him around us in quebec canada. Thinking of moving to them! Alot of knowledge 🙏👌🎯❤️
I bet! I really enjoyed how simple Downwind broke down the process for me.
Very imformative! Never really thought about dropping the anchor point.
Neither did I! Takes a little bit of time getting used to but I think it is working a lot better for me!!

Bud is the best person I know in the archery community in my area. I have gotten so much help from him.
Your grip looks super tight in this video witch would torque your bow into your arm also

@@SlimPickins_07 well I hope this helps!! I want to know more about the people who watch, so where are you out of??
@@DylanJustesen1 Southeast Texas area. Hard hunting around here if you aren't on a fancy lease but that makes it better when you do get it done.
I think sometime next year, my dad and I are gonna try and make a trip down to Texas to try and hog hunt! Any ideas of places to do that??
Great video.
Thank you!!
I’m going to get my dads old sq2 restrung and start practicing with that. He’s 6’5and I’m 5’11 so I hope the 30 inch isn’t too long for me

What’s your wingspan?
I have a draw length of 28.5 inches so about 71 inches

Yeah I get that. What bow do you shoot?
Mathews Vertix which I’ve heard Mathews run a bit long as well.

Push pull means he's pushing bow out with left hand an pulling back against back wall with release with right arm.
My complete form needs a lot of work. But that initial push-pull technique is next on my list
I 100% believe it's your grip or you're double jointed
I 100% agree with you on my grip. That’s the next thing I have to work on
It's probably a combination of your drawing being too long and your grip being too vertical
Agreed. I have spent a lot of time getting more set up and adjusted with the bow over the past few months to try and fix all of that
