+Thor Hauerbach Yeap, been there, done that. Only in a brand-new Lufthansa 747-400 (man i'm old) from Caracas to Frankfurt. Been in love with airliners ever since.
I can't wait to fly to NY on one of these beauties. I had a choice of a Delta 757-200 direct through from Manchester to JFK or BA a flight on an A319 and then changing onto a 747-400 at LHR. I chose the latter, always been a dream to fly on the jumbo, every time I've flown so far i've always missed out.
I have flown many times LHR to LAX on BA 747 upper deck and it was so quiet and peaceful as very few passengers on upper deck. I always had seat 64A, flying backwards!
Hey! I flew on BA 747-400 by last month. I had a great flight. I have registration number is G-CIVT. I took nonstop from LHR-PHX. I was on the way home from Basel, Switzerland. I visited to see my brother & my niece, as well as my sister-in-law. It's very long flight. We have a nice flight crew in the economy class. This is my second time that I fly on 747-400. I actually flew on KLM 747-400 AMS-LAX by last year.
Actually watched this video before travelling to New York in January, and dreamed about what it would be like up there. Amazingly, due to a seat mix-up we got moved to the upper deck! Wife is not a good flier, but seemed to cope fine in those seats. Not so fortunate on the way back - in Economy, and the IFE was broken :-/
Hi, nice video. What camera do you use? How large are your files and how long does it take to upload? I've got a few premium economy, business and first class flights coming up over the next two months and keen to upload some flight reports onto youtube. Also, what’s the name of the song and where did you get it from? Also I quite like the take-off footage! People can skip forward if they want to.
That kid reaching for the emergency exit handle at 12:12 kinda freaked me out. Then I remembered that I'm not on the plane. I'm just watching this on a computer in my mom's basement. Whew!
Ray Brax then you may enjoy my TH-cam video of my business class flight aboard a new American Airlines' Boeing 777-300ER: th-cam.com/video/2kXxwLlwDJo/w-d-xo.html
OMG the kid standing at the emergency exit scared the shit outta me! LOL "Cut!... where are your parents hoodlum? " lol Jk :-p but no seriously ... watch your friggin kid!
Watching LTEs old videos.Over the years your content has dramatically improved in terms of videography, editing, background music and overall content. Great job nonetheless
Your seat definitely felt like it had the most privacy of the upper cabin so great score on that! Wish all business/firstclass seats were like that! What's the point of sinking all that money when you end up flying like economy does? Anywho, great vid as always, thanks for sharing!! (-:
Brings back memories when I flew Club World from LHR - HKG ( BA025).Think my seat was just after 64K,but was an aisle seat. The engines are noisey and if I recall the engines that were being used were my favourite and still are RB211-524
Having travelled in First and Business, for work, yes it IS nice up front, but on my own dime ... always economy. Divide the fare difference by the hours of the flight and that puts everything into proper perspective, for me.
I've flown R/T from JFK to London a few times on BA, my company pays for Biz Class thank goodness. It's a treat to fly them, the service is good and the seats and entertainment options are first rate. Highly recommend them, unlike Delta whose Biz Class is terrible.
The 747 will always be Queen of the Skies, but in this day and age, they are too expensive to fly. Even the A380 is losing popularity. In the modern age, smaller, very long-range jets, such as the 787 are taking hold, but the 777 is a good high-capacity workhorse for most airlines.
Just recently, I've seen some British Airways Boeing 747-400s in Phoenix and Miami. They also fly them out of Las Vegas in Terminal 3 at McCarran International Airport.
My father went to work as soon as he got out of the Air Corps as a pilot for American. Actually, since Berlin fell before Japan, a lot of C-47 pilots got out early and started flying civilian. When I was growing up I got to fly all over the world as a non rev passenger. Now that I fly on my dime, it amazes me how much some companies waste for business class and first class fares. Granted, you eat better and have a much better experience, but Forbes magazine did a survey a couple years ago and over 90 of business class passengers said they would fly coach/economy if they paid for it themselves. All I can say is enjoy it while you can.Now I'm retired and figure every discount I can get. I doubt I ever fly first class again, but it would be nice.........if someone else pays.
Ahhhh memories THANK YOU for this I flew out the DAY after first time EVER upper deck same seat too well worth the 2K paid for ( booked a month in advance) flying again next week SAME SEAT ;0)
I'm so glad that the 747 is still used by many airlines. It is my favourite airplane and Boeing continues to produce upgraded series of this airplane. I'll fly any airline that uses this plane. It looks awesome and graceful too.
***** luftansa is the only one who operates the 747-8i aside from southern china airlines that just received them. All other airlines are freight ones. Qantas, british airways, delta operate 747-400 until they are scrapped
We are traveling from Seattle to Athens via Heathrow next month - upper deck 63 A & B. After watching this video, we can't wait to experience British Airways. May I inquire as to what type of video camera you used?
I saw and offer for 21k us dollar for 5 passengers on business class on this plane I was suprised I thought it is bad because at the same time I saw Egypt air ways for something like 80k us dollar on economy class ! but to be honest this is one of the best business classes I've ever seen (on youtube)
I'd love to ride on the top deck of a 747 before they are retired - Fortunately BA is keeping their 747-400s for quite a few more years, and as Lufthansa and Korean Air both bought the 747-8, it'll be quite a while before those disappear too.
Amen to that. It almost brings a tear to my eye knowing that our little nation is a world leader in the aviation industry. I mean look at the quality, this vid says it all. And nearly 7 million flights without a single fatality?! I'm pretty sure only Qantas can top that. However, I'm Scottish and at this rate it's looking more and more likely that we'll get independence. So when it comes to creating a flag carrier, I sincerely hope we take tips from BA and put together a quality airline and not some shoddy, rushed operation.
I gave up flying BA Business and switched to Lufthansa.. Half the price and twice the service and i will go as far as to say it felt like First Class in Business on Lufthansa and felt like a King onboard
+SonofthewindsInc Interested to know what the problems were with B.A. I use them fairly regularly, GRU-LHR 747-400 and have always found the experience to be near perfect. Extremely comfortable, excellent food, attentive service and I like the intimate cabin as compared to many other planes that are a sea of seats.
that is the old business cabin though the new one is behind first don't know which you flew but the newer cabin is much nicer and downstairs on BA's 747
This was very interesting, and it certainly makes it tempting to pay extra for business or first class. However, the first 8 minutes of just looking out the window at the engines was boring. What about the lounges at both airports?
Great video, thanks.I'm doing the LHR-SFO run soon so this was instructive. What a pity no-one can convince BA to shorten or better still cut out so many of their monotonous, droning cabin announcements. Always drearily read by the most nasally-impaired "Johnnie No-Stars" from a crib sheet. BA are by far the worst for this: last week I flew LHR-DUS and I swear the guy hardly stopped gabbing his endless drivel the whole flight. I'm sure only a tiny portion is legally required. Why do they need to tell you they're going to push a trolley up the aisle? Are they afraid you might pop outside and miss it?
Nicely done - filmed & edited. Many of these videos are poor. They feature shaky cameras, paining too quickly and captions that are not there long enough to read. Again, nice job LTE.
cause he wanted to put that on the video. thats also why he tells you where to ff too if you dont want to see that. everyone's a fucking critic on here. get a fucking life mate.
Your aircraft was the version 1 of BA's 747...if you had carried on walking through the plane before going upon the stairs to club you would have seen word traveller plus and first.
11:50 peasant class 12:16 sort of middle class 12:32 posh snobs class who can't afford first class I have never ever been to a flight with four classes other than BA. In Britain, you MUST know your place, thank you very much.
Myiphone5 you don't get it? The money goes to dedicated services not only on board. Fast track baggage check in, immigration and scanning, lounges, air miles, in flight entertainment... I also secretly enjoy priority boarding when the rest of you poor people look jealous. I don't know where you came with that 10 grand figure but I am sure a return flight first class from London to Boston cost around 3000.
Myiphone5 when I was a student in the UK I used to travel economy and I remember the struggle I had trying to avoid body contact with the person next to me who always happen to be an ugly man with a hairy arm. In long flights, the fact that you can have your own space with a divider and a flat bed is worth the money. Work harder and enjoy your life.
Myiphone5 I couldn't care less what your class system thinks of me, thank God I am not British. I however know that saving money is BORING and can make you a stingy cheapskate. I went to Vegas last week on a business flight from Heathrow, hired a 2015 Camaro convertible, and stayed in an executive suite at the Hilton. Now this is FUN! I actually uploaded a video for you. On the same flight, some 5 yellow tooth British creeps arrived on economy, hired a Kia as a group, and I would imagine they also stayed in a sleazy cheap motel full of hookers and blood stains. If this is their idea of fun, then I'd rather drown myself in the bathtub.
Haha, greathey1234 while you talk about throwing your money away, please invest in a decent camera, maybe buy some filming lessons or something, go on a course (maybe you're too much of a snob for that) and learn how to make a decent youtube video without the viewers head having to constantly adjust due to the frankly stunning case of shaky arm you posses. After that, realise that snobbery is neither welcomed nor condoned in our society, we are very much one British people, despite what we earn. Now if you love spending your money and living the 'high life', if that claim is even true, get off your ass and go out and spend your money making someone else rich, enjoy.
I've flown BA's upper deck several times and entry and exit has always been from the lower deck. You get off along with all the other business class px on the lower deck - no significant extra time involved. The exit is right at the bottom of the stairs.
Love that kid at 12:10. I can almost feel his astonishment.

+Thor Hauerbach Yeap, been there, done that. Only in a brand-new Lufthansa 747-400 (man i'm old) from Caracas to Frankfurt. Been in love with airliners ever since.
I love the sound of the Rolls Royce engines during takeoff. The sound brings back so many memories!
Really? Not me personally. Reminds me of the grooves in roads to already you of drifting.
awesome engines sound roaring like a lion.🦁
I can't wait to fly to NY on one of these beauties. I had a choice of a Delta 757-200 direct through from Manchester to JFK or BA a flight on an A319 and then changing onto a 747-400 at LHR. I chose the latter, always been a dream to fly on the jumbo, every time I've flown so far i've always missed out.
+macnerd93 enjoy
macnerd93 same I chose the BA from Manchester Airport to LHR (London Heathrow) on an a319 then from LHR to JFK (NYC) on a 747.
Those Rolls Royce engines....there is no more amazing sound as that! They are at once both powerful and soothing.
I have flown many times LHR to LAX on BA 747 upper deck and it was so quiet and peaceful as very few passengers on upper deck. I always had seat 64A, flying backwards!

Thank you
How do you know I'm from london
Awesome!!!! And THANK YOU for not throwing music over the sound of those beautiful RR engines! Aloha🤙🏽
The Brits Know how to make one feel royal, lol. Nice vid.
Looking very nice....Yes, the 747-400 sounds like that..I love it when I see the wings starting to bend..So, cool...
This video is so valuable now that BA has retired the 747-400
Air India serves the best inflight meals - you can't beat a mid flight ringer singer 😂

It was always nice to seat upstairs in Business Class on the 747s. Always was on United's 747s as well.

MrGurjSangha Well, that certainly puts a damper on my D.B. Cooper-style get-rich-quick plans!
mlovmo I just had to google D.B Cooper lol
It's a great seat. I flew from Hong Kong to DFW with this seat. I really enjoyed it.
OMG the kid standing at the emergency exit scared the shit outta me! LOL "Cut!... where are your parents hoodlum? " lol Jk :-p but no seriously ... watch your friggin kid!

Wow business class is so nice. Look like the same view I get in cattle class.

Nice but why did you video the window for a long time? Loved it tho 😸xDD
This was one of my very first flight clips. I would never include that long takeoff sequence again :)
I really missed the engine sound roaring....👍
Love this goin on this next year to Barbados
Another great video! Thanks for sharing!
Nice seat.300th comment in this vid(sorry for the spam content)
Great video! Thank for sharing! When you have time, please check our airlines videos too! Kind regards from Rio :)
Nice video, not sure if I would like the reversed seating in the the 747 upper cabin, half the seats face backwards, strange idea to me.

Is the Business class configuration on the new BA A380s the same as this? I wouldn't like rear facing seats either.

the Luxury Travel Expert You're welcome, I'll take a look. I used to fly, now I'm a nervous flyer. Never had seats like that.

fantastic video coverage

how did you start with this traveling vlog?

A very good product from british not the best but very good. BTW nice video thank you so much

Boeing 747-400 Great AirPlane
Traveling as a couple, would you rather have seats facing opposite or same direction?
The center seats in the middle of the plane (lower deck) are perfect for traveling as a couple
Is this BA285 or BA287
Nicely done
business class chair facing backwards? It just wrong
It is so you don't have to adopt the brace position In an emergency landing, making it more comfortable.
That's not the reason. It's to be able to put more seats in less space making t more efficient and cheaper for the airline.
If I had the opportunity to fly business class I wouldn't really care if I was sitting backwards.
sitting backwards is horrible 🤢🤮
does the business class differ from one country to another?? even if it is the same airlines? ?
i think its better, when you make the start as a timelapse
Just imagine the First Class section on this airplane... The f....' good life !
Nope Singapore airlines is better
am i supposed to carry my bags to the upper deck? that doesn't seem very luxurious to me.
We.need Concorde back!

What service do you have at the lounge in airport
Great video. There's a piano backing track. What's it called please?
I flew this on FSX although my approach was over some hills rather than the estuary lol.
but still very relaxing!

Thanks for the info. But was the upper deck the last group to depart the plane when it landed due to it being an upper deck
I've flown BA's upper deck several times and entry and exit has always been from the lower deck. You get off along with all the other business class px on the lower deck - no significant extra time involved. The exit is right at the bottom of the stairs.
