The story of the people who evolved the country music style which came to be known as "The Bakersfield Sound". It wasn't Buck or Merle, as many believe. It was largely Dust Bowl immigrants who chose to pick guitars instead of cotton, who created the honky-tonk sound which changed country music. As one observer said: "The Nashville sound is from the studio. The Bakersfield Sound is from the street."
