- This is a 12 minute preview of a 1994 film which was never finished. "Vietnam: A Final Healing" is about the return to Vietnam, and the places of their imprisonment and torture, of several former American prisoners of war. It was funded and initiated by the TET Vietnam Reconciliation Project, Produced and Directed by Will Furman.
The former POWs are:
EVERETT ALVAREZ, JR: U.S. Navy, the first American shot down in Vietnam.
LEO THORSNESS: U.S. Air Force. A combat fighter pilot, shot down in '67.
BEN PURCELL: U.S. Army, whose chopper was shot down in '68 during TET.
NGUYEN DAT: South Vietnamese Air Force pilot, shot down in June 1966.
FRED CHERRY: U.S. Navy, shot down October '65.
BERNHARD DIEHL: German civilian medical worker, captured April '69.
