She had looks and talent enough to even be a big movie star, but I think she was just happy being with her ramblin’ man. She’s now a legend, too. And deservedly.

GREAT renditions of Ramblin' Man & Rainy Day Woman by Waylon, but wow --Jessi steals the show by a hair (or a do-rag) on this one. Pure magic and in top voice for her numbers. Tompall was pretty good, but he didn't have the sheer personal charisma of a Waylon or a Jessi. The talent just radiated off of Mr. and Mrs.
@@anthonyfoutch3152 Yes, she made a difficult but deliberate decision. Most marriages where the man and woman are not only famous but even competing in the marketplace of show business do no survive. Jessi had her blockbuster success with “I’m Not Lisa”, “What’s Happened to Blue Eyes” and her classic Capitol albums (as well as ‘Wanted: The Outlaws,’ of course) but she chose to fight for her husband’s health and cool her own jets. It was a great move, because I believe we would have lost Waylon much earlier to OD if she had not stood her ground and made a loving effort. Waylon said it himself. And as a result, we got all the great Highwayman years with Waylon and more amazing albums from him. But Jessi was a unique, mysterious talent. Still is.
@@anthonyfoutch3152 … Oh yeah. You’ve got that right. Hot stuff and bedroom eyes for days. On her looks alone it’s surprising that she did not branch out into films and all sorts of other media aside from her very intimate, poetic music. But, in her biography, she said (direct quote) that she was “not interested in building the kind of huge teams that Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand were assembling at the time to reach new levels.” She wasn’t speaking negatively about either woman, in any way, but admitted that, in order to stay at a certain level in the industry, a female artist had to build that sort of infrastructure. Her admission was also an implication (in my opinion) that she knew she *could* have gone in that direction, and that she was urged by certain execs in the industry to go that route … but her marriage really did come first for her, as well as her spirituality/faith. My only regret is that she stopped releasing records altogether or even trying to sell her original music after 1981, when in fact she mentions that she still has several albums’ worth of unreleased original, recorded material in her personal library. Her voice and style were/are unique. I always kind of wished she had reemerged as the straight-up blues, rock-pop chanteuse she always really was … with that gritty Western/roadhouse country edge. Oh well. If she gets one more album out, the one she recorded with Margo Price’s band, it’ll be a triumph. Her 2006 ‘Ashes’ album, produced by Don Was, is still one of the best records I’ve ever heard from the Aughts. Top-level work, like her best Capitol stuff. Greasy and swampy and funky. Fingers crossed.
I concur with everything everyone’s said here about Waylon and Jesse, but just want to put in a word for Tompall Glaser’s performance. And a nice head of hair, too.
Real solid folks, and I love them . Music industry sure has changed people, these folks paid thier dues , but these days they dont work as hard, Todays talent is shit, its all technical and created by recording studio machines,

I was lucky enough to live those times. Saw him 10 times some on smaller venues when he would come out and visit. Saw him and Willie when they were doing their joint albums. I still listen to him, not Willie anymore. New country is not country! Tho it makes me older, I am so glad I was older and able to be a part of that "Outlaw" time of music. We live in the Midwest, but in those days they did come this way. Even saw Hank Jr. one time. Miss those days but glad I lived them.
Been a musician for going on now about 34-25yrs and know how lucky I am to have came up in the 70's and there to see all the much needed changes like Waylon. Their still ain't nobody able to do it "thata way" There's no telling how many Waylons greatest hits we wore out! It was all those damn aggravating, 4 channel 8 track tapes back then. I'd crack 'em open and repair them with scotch tape as many times I could, until they got unbearable to hear with all the skipping or wrinkled up from getting tangled in the pinch rollers. If not that, they'd start fading in and out from being de magnetized. Supposedly from reoccurring static buildup on the tape player head. It was annoying as hell, but all you had then.
Over 45 years ago. How could it be? And I still listen to these same tunes. Country ... As it was meant to be.

She had looks and talent enough to even be a big movie star, but I think she was just happy being with her ramblin’ man. She’s now a legend, too. And deservedly.
Thanks for the memories I actually still have their cassette "wanted the outlaws" 👍
Now this is singing , Waylon is top class with his music an all round singer @❤❤❤❤ entertainer. RIP WAYLON ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ JENNINGS.
We lost country music when we lost Waylon
Absolutely fantastic. 👍❤🎵🎻🎶🎹🎼🎸
Three of my favorites Jesse, Waylon and Tompall
It was great to cascade back in time! Love the twilight zone. All of their music is forever locked in no matter what happens it'll always bring back the great times.
Jessie Colter is a legend in her own right.
I love I love wailings music especially the song he sings I've always been crazycan I listen to that a couple of more times

Can't tell you how many times this 8 track played on our trips back and forth from Odessa, TX to Oklahoma City! Miss these guys!
The thumbnail looked like Waylon and Jessi were on the Newlywed Game
lol thought the same thing
Lol I thought the same, that's why I clicked on it
That would have been a fun episode. The pair of them had great banter.
"Boogity, boogity, boogity.............." You are missed, Hoss!
Caught waylon in Vail Colorado in the early 90's in the old ice arena
Small crowd but he still put on a great show.
Still lucky to see him
O'yea. She is a very a very lovely Lady
Dave Clifton I know
Love that mans voice, go Waylon
5:10 WOW what a song
18:28 "Moon" Ralph Mooney, one of the best Steel Guitar players in the world. He wrote "Crazy Arms",that Ray Price & Jerry Lee Lewis, both made a hit. And Moon is the Steel player on Buck Owen's "Above and Beyond",that's his licks. Played for Wynn Stewart. RIP Moon.
glencoe6305 not ‘one’ of the best- THE best. RIP Mr. Moon
Ralph Mooney is the reason I got into playing pedal steel. The man was such an important part of giving various artists such a memorable sound
The talent just radiated off of Mr. and Mrs.
Jessi could had been a superstar too but she decided to support Waylon.
Still is.
@@jonathankieranwriter Plus I think she is the sexiest performer in country music history. You can see why Waylon was crazy for her.
@@anthonyfoutch3152 … Oh yeah. You’ve got that right. Hot stuff and bedroom eyes for days. On her looks alone it’s surprising that she did not branch out into films and all sorts of other media aside from her very intimate, poetic music. But, in her biography, she said (direct quote) that she was “not interested in building the kind of huge teams that Dolly Parton and Barbra Streisand were assembling at the time to reach new levels.”
She wasn’t speaking negatively about either woman, in any way, but admitted that, in order to stay at a certain level in the industry, a female artist had to build that sort of infrastructure.
Music industry sure has changed people, these folks paid thier dues , but these days they dont work as hard, Todays talent is shit, its all technical and created by recording studio machines,
Jessie was/is so incredibly talented, loyal and beautiful ❤ she was Waylon’s saving grace as was little Shooter
What an amazing voice Waylon had .l still miss Waylon and that amazing voice of his .Singing with the lord AND the angels in heaven now. RIP DEAREST FRIEND ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ELIZABETH ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm not a country music fan. My parents raised me on Waylon, Willie, and the boys. They were rock n roll to me.
DAYUM! I love that cowboys voice! 🤘🏽🤠🎶
I never got into the highway men or any of the old country but listening 2 them 4 about 3/4 years I love them all can't get enough of them love you Waylon Jennings n the rest of them
I was lucky enough to live those times.
God given talent and chrisma. One of a kind 👍
THREE GOOD SINGERS TOGETHER LOVE THEM
I came here for Waylon but I stayed here for Throw Another Log On The Fire!!
King Waylon and Queen Jessi in my court love them both take care of yourself Jessi.
I love Waylon and his son has much talent too.
Waylon loved Jessi and she surely loved her man they made a wonderful couple
Been a musician for going on now about 34-25yrs and know how lucky I am to have came up in the 70's and there to see all the much needed changes like Waylon. Their still ain't nobody able to do it "thata way"
There's no telling how many Waylons greatest hits we wore out! Supposedly from reoccurring static buildup on the
tape player head. It was annoying as hell, but all you had then.
