The route cause is that successive govts have not listened to the will of the people. If there is a £22b deficit, then they shouldn't decide how to fix it without seeking the opinions of tax paying Britain's. There shouldn't be warnings of hard decisions, there should be choices to make. Maybe we want the choice of less foriegn war contributions, less foreign aid spend, less illegal immigration. Just maybe we are past the point of more taxes being the only answer. Just ask us and deliver our will. That's what our government is supposed to do!

Foreign aid constitutes about £15 billion per year for the U.K.
At the same time, about £35-40 billion is 'lost' every year to tax avoidance and evasion.
Foreign aid is not the big problem GB News want yiu to think it is. It's toughly 1/10 of the UK's annual budget for health.
Plus...none of this counts in the benefits of foreign aid. Doing business with developing countries, humanitarian aid, and of course the kudos of being a first world nation with still enough economic clout to give money overseas. Thus boosting our international standing.

Interesting to know that 2-tier Starmer has his own pension uniquely protected from taxation by a specific piece of legislation implemented when he was DPP. Compare that to the vilification of Labour’s white working class traditional voters now all labelled ‘far right’, increasing energy bills despite promising they would fall, and removing 10M pensioners from cold weather energy payments. Free speech has never been so threatened, and all in 7 weeks….quite an achievement.

Starmer says we have a £22 Billion black hole (9 Billion of his own making when he agreed to pay Doctor/Teacher etc insane pay rises). He says the Autumn budget will be painfull. Put in perspective, there are 33 million workers in the UK. That equates to £666,67 per person. Spread over 3 years, that is £18.52 per month. But I bet the taxes he imposes will way, way exceed the tax revenue required to plug this hole.
