For those that have this figure or are planning to get him, I've found that if you turn Tarns head around before you push his head in his chest for tranformation it will get rid of that big gap in his tank mode.
If I had a nickel for every time hasbro released an essentially perfect figure of a comic original villain who’s never been done properly in mainline before that also has finger articulation, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it’s happened twice.

When I learned Tarn was announced, went pretty much "Shut Up and Take My Money". I wanted figure for a while but Mastermind Creations was... Bit too hefty for wallet.
I would love to pick your brain about technique. I did a few when I started my channel. Not very good but fun for sure. I got interested in stop motion as a kid when I would watch old Ray Harishausen movies (Jason and the Argonauts, Clash of the Titans, etc..) I used an old VHS camera to take 1 second frames to animate my Star Wars figures. No editing, not nothing. Just raw footage.

ok in fairness. the DJD isnt exactly hiding at all. i think hands in back is definitely forgivable for how much other stuff went into this gorgeous figure
I pre-ordered him immediately when he was available. No regrets as this is a solid figure. The best part, no hollow parts, aside from the guns. Mine had some loose joints, which I took care of with some Kiki. I also have the MMC Masterpiece version of him and he's fantastic.
@@jackdavis9678 I just put some on the outside and then moved the joints to get the Kiki inside. They're all super tight now. The only ones that Kiki doesn't really work on after the ball joints.

for those who dont know tarn was from the idw comic book he was an autobot people named him glitch cause he has a powerful ability where his voice can kinda kill cybertroians he then joined the decepticons cause of megatron thus his leadership is what made tarn inspired him to join the decepticons however things went downhill when megtron turned good thus he became a threat to megatron and the other characters he even had a team called the decepticon justice division aka the DJD the members are tarn the leader,kaon who turns into an eletric chair,crucible he has 4 arms one is his actual arms the other is his giant amrs for his alt mode when he can melt the bots to death and he also likes to put robot brains in the mouth kinda messed up we then have vos who turns into a sniper he does not speak english just cybertroian words he as the thing where he can remove his face were it has spikes then people gets face plate with the spikes we then have nickel whos a small female bot and finally tesarus hes the guy who has an X on his face hes mechanical amrs for when he drags the bots he picks up and kills them by going thru his chest that has a razor blades to kill people there were more members like crankcase and even Deathsaurus execept he left the team cause of tarn crazy over killing megatron tarn was defated by megatron when he activated his anti matter which pretty much killed all the djd including him thats tarn entire story sorry if this was long just want to tell you who tarn is i hope this helps lol
oh and tarn killed kaon cause of his failure and they had a wolf pet who was an autobot and they made her (yes its a she) into their dog and he also teamed up with overlord to kill megatron and he also killed black shadow by using his voice powers and also shivers shockwave while he was in the phone call with him (im not joking)

My "one butt" for this figure is that he's too damn thin for Tarn, he's supposed to have a beastly upper body. If you look at the source material, Tarn is big and beefy looking like Megatron. The Mastermind Creations Tarn and the Flame Toys Tarn are both much thicker/beefier than this version. Imagine if Optimus and Megatron were this thin? Making him thicker would mean thicker treads, which would make the tank mode look much better too.

Tran has a mask that is attach to his face that looks like the decepticon logo. Just letting you know, and I agree with the flaw with the alt mode with the hands.
I had Tarn since early February, and heres what I think: He has great posabilty, and excellent at the lower legs. The only problem with the posability is how the shoulders are mounted, making it look weird when hinged to the side. Also a pain/impossible trying to make him point his double fusion cannon at an angle. The only other problem I have with the robot mode is the lightpiping. Why you may ask, because you'd have to point a light to make it work. Siege shockwave is an excellent example of lightpiping but Tarn is terrible. If you have Legacy Dragon Megatron then you know how good lightpiping can be. Have clear orange plastic being painted over red paint to look good without shoving a light, look cooler, and also make him more accurate. Other than that he is perfect and I love posing him with Combiner Wars Menasors sword. He is incredibly fun to pose and the opening hands helps a lot.
Tarn's hands don't bother me much, I do really wish his mask was removable though, especially if his scar was properly molded, having him in the Shakespeare pose with his mask would be awesome
I think this is almost a perfect figure but the only thing that stops this from being a perfect figure is all the clear plastic but that didn't stop me from buying bludgeon 🙏
Yeah, that makes him look better from the top, I like turning palms in so from the side it looks cleaner. I really with there was some scpae to plug in an accessory of some sort. I think that would hide the hands better

The legs are a little wobbly and loose on mine and the shoulders/arms aren't that poseable IMO. I'm getting the oversized KO by "Black Mamba" of this character and then relegating the official Tarn figure as one of his "Decepticon super soldiers" (as seen in the Cyberverse cartoon).
Yeah the official one isn't the best thing ever, but it affordable. Well, it's affordable you can find it one shelves. Distribution for this guys was horrible in my area
First Tarn figure and they did a great job in it. Kind of glad they waited so long instead of putting out sub par figures for 10 years. They came out the gate with near perfection!

That shows his dedication to the Decepticons cause. He literally fused the symbol to his face if I'm not mistaken. Someone out there smarter can probably tell ya more about that, I'm just a schmuck, haha
Tarn is the head of the Decepticon Justice Division. He hunts Decepticons that went rogue or go against Megatron. He’s a big Megatron fanboy. So much so that his twin blasters are a copy of Megatron’s fusion cannon. Originally in the IDW run it was going to be revealed that he was a former autobot named Roller but it was changed at the last minute when fans pieced it together. Some of Tarn’s greatest hits include tricking Autobot Skids into repairing a space bridge and telling him that he was going to use it release Autobot POWs but instead he was using it to teleport them into a smelting pool. When Tarn and the DJD caught an Autobot spy they tortured him endlessly and then surgically modified his body to look like a Spark Eater and made him the DJD’s mascot and pet. His first appearance had him place the brain module of a Decepticon deserter inside his mouth and telling him to endure the pain or he’ll bite down on his own brain. Tarn is notoriously known for his cruelty and sadism. So much so that he tortures the bots to music. Tarn also has a hidden power, he can spark sync his voice to other Cybertronian’s sparks. So when Tarn stops speaking their sparks snuff out.

I got this figure recently and he's great but he feels so damn light. A buff boy like him should have some heft, not feel like a Deluxe. Plus he's pretty flat when seen from the side, which IS accurate to the OG design but that had more 23D bulk to it.
I love tarn and I'm curious as to what kinds of retools they can make from this mold. I'm picturing a tank mode Megatron though I'm not sure which one. Maybe a stylized version of armada megs
Doubt they will do anything stylized right now. Seem they are pretty set on accuracy at the moment. Also, they are doing an Armada Megs. The team announced him on the last live stream, but they will 100% do something with this mold. No way they waste all this tooling and engineering on one figure. Now, I could seem them doing a Bludgeon with this maybe. What do you think?

I had this same issue. If you watch my transformation video for Tarn I hit at my solution. What I found works is not to fully rotate the treads back until you get the chest / tank front in postion.

I see where you are coming from, but also I think with the stack of bots they have for leader class right now it just wasn't in the cards. I'm still amazed that Hasbro did this guy as a mainline figure.

Oh 100%. Like I said in the review the hands on the butt are the only point that's not perfection on this guy.

Yeah that Mast Minds one looks fantastic, but as a more affordable option this main line release is just AMAZING!
how did you fix the joints with the Kiki ive noticed they're all Pin Joints so wouldn't they be hard to get to ?

What is Kiki… I have some transformers that have a bunch of loose joints. I thought about using nail polish it Kiki works better I’ll try it.

3rd part upgrade kit perhaps?
One of my issues with him is the clear pegs into really tight holes on his back and chest piece, those should have been cast in purple
Yeah, not sure why they cast the chest in clear purple then painted it. Maybe they wanted to acheieve that little bit of clear effect on the chest.
I'm sure some 3rd party will create something for the butt hands

I think turning the hands 90 degrees makes it slightly better (so the palms and fingers are aimed down).

The chest panel/front bumper won’t stay on during transformation, anyone else got this?
