From what I remember, having played x and y for a combined 5 or so playthrough, the postgame felt like a checklist to me more than the other Pokémon games, even with the Looker side episodes. I thoroughly enjoy gen 6 but when they came right after BW2 which had the PWT, battle subway, battle institute, black tower/white treehollow, pokestar studios, join avenue, abyssal ruins, entralink, all the medals, not to mention the other half of the region or the handful of returning legendaries, it’s hard not to ask is that it.
You also have USUM with Team Rainbow Rocket and the Ultra Warp Ride, and SV with the sidequests with your friends, the Union Circle, the Gym rematches being necessary in order to unlock the school tournament, as well as the Tera Raids and (at least from tomorrow) the start of the DLC in the form of the Teal Mask
Unfortunately, this feels to me like a sad case of “first impressions are everything”. A majority of the postgame feels more like a checklist because, in my opinion, it literally primes our minds to think of it as one in its setup, to the point where once a story truly kicks in, it’s a bit too late to fix that impression. The entire premise of the postgame is built on this idea that you’re helping Looker set up shop in Kalos to fight unspecified criminal activity. So already, they’ve shot themselves in the foot, because it doesn’t take much for the player to realize this just makes them into an on-call investigator. Go to Looker, get assignment, execute assignment. So that’s their first mistake. But that’s okay; it can easily be overcome with a good story, and since your time at the Bureau decreases as the postgame goes on, it seems that was kinda what they were going for. But then, they decide to shoot their other foot for good measure, by making the VERY FIRST MISSION one where the player literally completes a checklist in the form of Looker Tickets. Not only is it one of the most basic fetch quests you’ll ever do in a video game, I believe that it also fails to convince the player that they really earned that assistant detective role. Put both of these things together, and I’m absolutely not surprised that a lot of players thought this was a checklist-y feeling postgame. It sets itself up so badly, that if the emotional beats of the latter half don’t resonate with someone much, it’s likely they’ll come out of it feeling like they just did do a bunch of pointless stuff.

Thanks to creating a fan game(s), which is make for X/Y same as Emerald for Ruby/Sapphire, and Platinum for Diamond/Pearl. Fix, improve, and expand original games. And this fan game(s) in right hands can achieve a praises in the level of AM2R, remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus.
It may be because it was the first Pokemon game I played, but X and Y seem to be a forgotten gem. Playing it just seemed to magical on the new hardware. Even with its flaws, It was the last decent Pokemon game for me.

It’s crazy cause technically X and Y are close to being in line for a remake hopefully if they do they add more endgame content to make the game feel more complete
I'll be frank: XY's postgame story is legit the only main series Pokemon story I'd say that's actually on par with Mystery Dungeon and Ranger, let alone most other RPGs out there.
This was my first Pokémon game, and I had watched a playthrough of the game prior to playing, but I had no idea of the postgame story so I was immersed. One of the first times I played something blind as a kid I love Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire but I can’t help but find it tragic that 2 out of the 3 years of Gen 6… we were in Hoenn instead of Kalos… I was not around for 3 or 4 but I guess it probably was similar case where Kanto stole Hoenn’s spotlight and Johto stole Sinnoh’s time… though the anime in Hoenn and Sinnoh would incorporate Pokémon from Kanto and Johto to advertise those games in spite the anime still being in the newer regions (well the anime did go back through Kanto I guess)
I don’t care what anyone says. I LOVE this game. Soul Silver is probably still my number 1 but man, X is incredible. The most under rated game in the franchise. Hopefully it starts getting the respect it deserves when Z comes next year. (Please don’t mess Z up game freak lol )
The post game that was there was pretty good like the stuff with looker and how he lost his partner pokemon in the past and serving for the pokemon in the city was fun but the game didn't have enough content post game for me to say it was good.

May or may not have replayed this game arouind 32 times to replay this storyline
Wow, I didn't even realize this looker quest even exist. Had pokemon x and y for a very long time and didn't know
It’s sad that we don’t have Pokemon Z. But, we, Pokemon fans, can fix this situation. Thanks to fan projects, like mine Pokemon Mega XY(Z). Same could be with Gen 6 games.
"many people have wanted a xy sequel" me watching this video seven months later
It may be because it was the first Pokemon game I played, but X and Y seem to be a forgotten gem.
Playing it just seemed to magical on the new hardware.
Even with its flaws, It was the last decent Pokemon game for me.
I'm still salty that my pokemon in Bank got deleted because I didn't re-up my subscription fast enough.
The post game is sooo good for x and y
It’s wild how much better it is than the main story
The looker story is so good
legendaries are so fucking foreboding when they fucking tower over you like that
I love Gen 6 so much
Same, it doesn’t deserve the hate
I mean the Black and White games only got well-liked again because many people were nostalgic for them, so the same could happen for X and Y, and hopefully for Sun and Moon too
@@sharonrizzi14Ehhh, no, the B/W games were liked because people realized that they were good games all around. Nostalgia doesn't change the fact of them having a good story and good challenges.
@@DarthFhenix55 That’s true, the storytelling wasn’t the best in X and Y but I still love those games a lot, so I may be a little biased 😅
However, the story in Sun and Moon was actually really good though, seriously they are the best modern Pokémon games in my opinion, so hopefully more people will start to realise that too ☺️
@@sharonrizzi14I’d say that sun and moon, and ultra sun and ultra moon are more likely to get the black and white treatment
@@sourlemon1002 I think so too! ☺️😆
It’s crazy cause technically X and Y are close to being in line for a remake hopefully if they do they add more endgame content to make the game feel more complete
I personally loved the post game stuff. It felt more fulfilling than most Pokemon games now…
Looker is not from platinum , in platinum he jsut got his codename Looker, the guy appears since gen 1 in ss anne.
i need them to make a Z game for the switch so bad like i LOVED xy
I enjoyed the game a lot. It was too easy, but I come back to it quite a lot
I'll be frank: XY's postgame story is legit the only main series Pokemon story I'd say that's actually on par with Mystery Dungeon and Ranger, let alone most other RPGs out there.
I allways thought that the sundile was a pokwlemon and i was so disapointed when i found out it was just a big crystal 😢
The post game is yet to come
It really is underrated
I love the post game dearly it was very fun :3 the post game story line was so intriguing
A-Z trailer is officially out now
I still wish there was more
“Underrated post-game?”
Sheen, this is the fifth time you’ve talked about XY being underrated in class.
I mean Gen 5 fans somehow still insist that their game is still underrated to this day. 🤷
i loved XY so much. My Chansey was a menace lol
i have played pokemon y like 3 or 4 times and i genuinely did not know about the looker side quest.
14:29 I see you're a man of culture.
Still one of my favorites
I always felt intimidated by how absolutely massive Zygarde is in the overworld
Bro does not skip the gym 😂
I have no idea how I clocked 999:59 in X. It’s just a fever dream of completing the national dex and shiny hunting
the french language: exists
terraquake: the battle mason
I miss the x y games. I don’t care if it’s a sequel, I just wanna play this again.
Its only 5 legendarys i felt it needed a bit more
Ya I wish they added more that weren’t an event or mystery gift
@@TerraQuake1 yeah but atleast it makes up with the fun mega evolutions
For sure, mega evolutions has been one of the best additions!
i've played through pokemon x and y like. 10 times but i've never played the full post game somehow
you wont believe what just got announced
I manifested it 😳
This was my first Pokémon game, and I had watched a playthrough of the game prior to playing, but I had no idea of the postgame story so I was immersed. One of the first times I played something blind as a kid
I love Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire but I can’t help but find it tragic that 2 out of the 3 years of Gen 6… we were in Hoenn instead of Kalos…
I was not around for 3 or 4 but I guess it probably was similar case where Kanto stole Hoenn’s spotlight and Johto stole Sinnoh’s time… though the anime in Hoenn and Sinnoh would incorporate Pokémon from Kanto and Johto to advertise those games in spite the anime still being in the newer regions (well the anime did go back through Kanto I guess)
this aged like fine wine
Ok but can we all acknowledge how much of a failure looker is as a detective
Brother why is your child assistant doing a much better job than you when you're the specialized detective
i genuinely had no ideas about half of this
Looker is peak
x was my first game and i didn't know post-games existed so i just. reset the game as soon as i beat it and i've never beat it again. whoops
i think its more like there being so little of a postgame that was everyones gripe
Hot takes
People who say there’s no post games never played the post games
What post game is there to play? All you can do is Catch 2 pokemon, beat a looker side story, and go to the battle masion.
@@piranhalettuceno one ever mentions the battle chateau, with its gym leader and diantha higher level rematches
So the legendary birds are in the same position as the legendary beasts from FRLG
Fun fact it actually took 16 minutes to finish the post game 😂
Got this recommended just after Pokemon Z
Well boys we got Z
If it was in present day that whole Post game would have been a $30 "DLC"
X and Y were the last new main series games that were actually good, legends arceus is kinda of and kind of not a main series game so im not counting it
