50,000 subscribers!! I can’t say enough how much I appreciate all the support I’ve gotten from y’all the past couple years! We were planning on uploading a special video this past weekend as a small token of appreciation, but as he was finishing it there was a technical issue that Aaron described as “catastrophic,” so we’re going to try again this weekend! Be looking for that! Thank you again SO much for watching; I really couldn’t be out here doing what I’m doing without y’all’s support!

Walking is a poem written in the language of self-propelled motion. Sometimes it surprises us that outsiders have a vested interest in our private journeys. Personal odysseys are bigger than the individuals making them. They are of interest to all humankind, for we share a common origin and a common destiny. The people we attract into our lives are reflections of who we are. Thanks, Dixie, for sharing your odyssey so generously. May you always walk in beauty.

Hahahahaha! Yes, just like a T-Rex! Thank you for these wonderful videos, Dixie! You have made me bust right out laughing, and gave me the warm-fuzzies; I have sighed with wonder, at the beauty that surrounds you, and just plain felt good, while listening to you speak your wisdom of life. One thing that impressed me most was when you showed us a panorama of, what some might consider a barren desert, and you exclaimed how beautiful it was. I totally agreed with you! We are Kindred Spirits, you and I. "A friend I haven't met yet." (That's a saying I learned from my Dad, when I was a leetle keed). What a joy it has been for me to share your adventures, the beautiful scenery, from the wide expanses down to, the wonderful close up photography of the flora and critters, and the precious camaraderie of Friends! THANK YOU, SO MUCH, Dixie!!

Trail Angels on the AT restored my faith in the fact that we, as a human race, are going to be just fine. I had the most amazing experiences with people who cared and supported me all along the journey. So glad it holds true on the PCT as well. This video made me smile!!! ER 71

ER, I was doing a section hike between Windy Stairs and the NOC first week in May. 38 degrees, sleet, AND a kidney stone. When I got to Wayah Bald shelter, I was a wreck. The people at the shelter had cell signal, called a local hostel to come pick me up, and a girl named Rocky, 5'2" hoisted my pack on her back and hiked it back up to the fire tower to meet our ride. I was blown away. They literally saved my life. There ARE good people in this world,...the problem is they are out on the AT.

i've never experienced trail magic but when i was backpacking across europe i experience much of the same type of kindness and generosity from countless people. it always touched my heart how kind and generous people can be and when you see it and experience it, it really helps restore your faith in humanity and to know the world even though it can be a cruel place can have it's good and hope that good will conquer evil one day.

Wow, Dixie, this is my favorite segment to date, they're all good of course, but this one had so much in it, e.g., picking up, and kissing that little Horned lizard, and then the very touching commentary about all the wonderful folks who do trail magic.
Needless to say, you are a natural story teller, your videographers eye just keeps getting better all the time, and your editor does a fantastic job of putting it all together. And the music selections he adds always seem to fit, and really help convey the mood of the story as well.
Oh, the dead cat in the well, gag, poor thing.

I have yet to be able to do a thru hike but have met a few while backpacking and one of the most consistent things they say is how much faith in humanity they gained while doing it from the kindness of strangers they get.
On a side note, just came off a section hike of the PCT near Mt Whitney, while I did not get to assent Whitney do to bronchitis, I still made it up to Guitar lake, everything is very passable to that point and there is clear (non snow) camping at Guitar lake and minimal snow even up to Mt Whitney from others who did assent Whitney. We camped with about 10 PCT'ers that left to climb Whitney at 3 am to see the sun rise at the highest point in the lower 48. Shout out to "Just Mike" who we met on the trail.

I did a section hike of the PCT across the Mojave Desert back in April, 1984. The route was on the aqueduct the entire way to at least Jawbone Canyon. It was a temporary route, the route now is quite a bit west of Jawbone. There were other people hiking the route as well. Many of them were withdrawing water from the aqueduct without treating the water. The claimed it was safe because it came out of a pipe (actually a buried conduit). I told them they were drinking Rush Creek, Mammoth Creek, Rock Creek, the Owens River, etc. and all the other creeks down the Owens Valley and that the water was not treated. They stood their ground and insisted that water from any pipe was safe. I was a Forest Service recreation and lands officer at the time and knew exactly what it took to provide clean, safe water to campgrounds, trailheads, etc. I never heard about the fate of these people. I would expect there were some cases of giardia.

You must be getting really, really tired of the desert by now. I know I would be. Just keep thinking about the beautiful snow covered peaks up ahead, and how cool it will be. Then when you're up there freezing your behind, you can look back on how nice and warm the desert was. Happy trails Dixie.

Good use of music can take mediocre material and make it tug at your heart strings. This isn't mediocre material. Dixie's eye for the beauty in the world, and Aaron's eye for what's special in her footage and how it should be assembled make this channel a beautiful, bright spot in our lives. Thank you both.

I hate when these videos end!! The trail magic must be amazing. It always seems to come at the perfect/most needed time. It's been incredible watching you tackle the desert miles and all the cool people, scenery and wildlife you've encountered. Lots of challenges for sure. Great job Dixie!!

Awesome, Dixie, you are a true good sole, way beyond your years!! Thank you for all of these videos, I grew up in Huntsville, and Oklahoma so love your dialect, it's all about being simple and enjoying the moments you never get back everyday!

I saw a T-Rex too! That little mouse and horntoad were so DANG cute! That's the kinda stuff I would find myself suddenly off trail and lost for. I would have been following it all over, lol.
I just gotta say I am inspired to be a trail angel or do some trail magic myself one day. I imagine the people who do it and have never walked the trail have empathetic admiration. I don't ever want to do a full thru-hike but I get why others do and would love to help support their dream out of admiration. Also, people who live in those climates and out in the country understand the conditions better than anyone.

Awww....that's so sweet about your most recent trail angels. I literally cried during that montage (nice work Aaron). Your sweet and positive spirit is a blessing Dixie! War Eagle! 💗✌🏻

Awe Dixie, you made me tear up! There really are caring and compassionate folks out there in the world. One can only hope that more and more of that kindness spreads.
Thank you for sharing your adventures!

I have just binge watched all your pct vids and now i have to wait like everyone else for the next episode. I'll start watching the AT series in the meantime. Love your videos, your spirit, commitment, bravery and Strength. I wish I could meet you when you get across the border but I don't think I'd be on the mainland at that time. I live on Vancouver island, home of the West coast trail and Pacific coast trail.
    happy trails
