- As many of you may know, I am usually a drummer. But a few years ago I decided to see what writing and recording my own music would be like, HalfNoise. I made an EP in my house with a producer (Daniel James) and did a bit of touring. However it wasn't until I played a few shows in New Zealand and spent a few months there that I really realised my passion.
In August of 2013, I went back to New Zealand and spent 7 months writing and recording the new HalfNoise album with my friend (producer) Daniel James. I wanted to experience life somewhere other than Nashville, Tenn and wanted to know how my writing would change being in such an amazing and beautiful place. I knew the trip would be exciting, but didn't know it would be as life changing for me as it was. The people I met and the places where I visited/recorded were unlike any others Id seen before, and having toured for many years of my life I thought I had seen a lot. I wouldn't have been able to write the album I did had I not spent that time there. The Album is called "Volcano Crowe" because we recorded the album at the bottom of a volcano and my friend Rowan Crowe was the reason I visited New Zealand in the first place.
Mountain is the first song I completed there, So I thought it would be fitting to share first.

It's always great to see a drummer come out and sing, like Dave Grohl after Nirvana. It's an interesting role shift - from being in the back to being the frontman.

i am extremely impressed by Zac's songwriting here and in Hurricane love.. You can see the hole that has been left in Paramore for sure. I never really gave Zac or Josh the credit they deserved when they were in Paramore but it is obviously they are both extremely talented and perhaps they needed their own band/s as the focus, probably by the label, increasingly came all about Hayley, even to her admittance and open annoyance.

Paramore actually thanked Zac Farro in the linear notes of their latest album. I would assume he helped Taylor with the drums and chose not to be credited, they are still really good friends. I think it was Josh who had more of an issue. I think Zac left at the same time just to make it easier, only speculation of course
I must say, I am extremely surprised at how good Zac's music is. He knows how to get his voice to compliment the (amazing) lyrics and the music, so it all just blends together. Josh and Zac should do a project together! That would be so amazing!

It's pleasing to see Zac producing great music after leaving Paramore. I was always certain Zac was among the most talented in the band adding real depth to the bands sound. His new work has shown me even more versatility than I possibly could have given him credit for in the past. I'm not sure how far this new musical direction will take him, but in for one will keep my eyes (or ears) open!
Comparing Halfnoise to Paramore isn't going to do anything, I'm sure both of them have moved on already.
Zac is still friends with all of them, Hayley actually congratulated him on twitter, and they also thanked him in the linear notes of Paramores latest album :)
Yeah I know haha, I just said it because of people commenting saying that halfnoise is better than Paramore etc and It was getting on my nerves
I think the same, it's even stupid to me how some people here says that Halfnoise, that it's a starter band, it's better than Paramore, that it has a long time in music industry... But meh, let them kill themselves, I liked the song and I send the best of my luck the him and his band, we hope he get as high as Paramore.

I really missed Paramore and I wanted Zac and Josh (and then Jeremy) to come back in the band, but then I listened to this music, and the first thing I thought was "God, he's incredible he has to do a solo career". This song is amazing like everything you do keep doing music like that ! ;)

Brilliant song that paints such a wonderful soundscape. Quirky 3/4 meter played in an unusual manner. Very reminiscent of what was termed "New Age" music back in the 80s 7 90s.
What a beautiful song. So happy I clicked on this as my 1 halfnoise song to listen to. He is very talented I hope he does well.

Comparing Half Noise to Paramore is like comparing Foster The People to Suicide Silence - the two bands are in completely different genres and sound nothing alike. With that being said, it's good to see Zac writing his own music and doing what he loves. Paramore is his past, that's where it should be left.

Oh and people please stop the stupid high school bullshit of having to make snotty comments about Paramore. The past is in the past, they're all doing what they love, and doing a damn kick ass job of it. Proud of Paramore and HalfNoise. Can't wait to hear all the new music to come from both groups. I'm beyond words .... don't want to be negative towards Paramore, because I still love and respect them, but leaving may have been the best decision Zac has made. All this astoundingly amazing talent was just sitting behind the shadows before. This is such an awesome video and song. Not trying to be dramatic, but his voice touched my soul. Excited for more!!!!
I think you have a point there and I agree with you on the fact that if he did remain in Paramore he would have hardly received the opportunity to show his talent as a songwriter cause the songwriters were mainly Josh and Hayley. In this way Taylor was given this opportunity too cause he now can show his talent and I think with Josh still in the band he could have shown only a bit of it. (sorry for bad english).

I miss the Farro brothers in the Paramore band. It was such a heartbreaking part when they left the band but seeing this video made me think that I should also be happy knowing that they can do music on their own, unlocking their potential as a separate musicians. He is still my favorite drummer. Kudos to you Zac Farro and your brother! =)

I am so glad that bands like this are emerging. Every song they record is a masterpiece, from what I've heard so far.

This song is great. I love that zach is making music again. I wish people would stop comparing this to paramore. Half noise and paramore are two completely different styles/genres of music. They are both great bands but I dont think they should be compared to one another just because zach was in paramore and is now in half noise. They are both great bands that make great music cant we just focus and agree on that on that instead of arguing which is better?

Perhaps comparing the two types of genre isn't really fair, but I can say that I like where this song is as far as style goes. Stylistically I like this better the the style put forth by Paramore.

These comments are really pissing me off. When you scroll through all you see is "Paramore is shit now" and "The brothers were the light of the band" Half of these comments sound like you haven't given them the time of day since they broke off from the band. Hayley approves of this, there obviously aren't any hard feelings towards them, so you can all stop picking sides. Bands are subjective, but tearing them down for the sake of another band is bullshit. Please grow up and realize that you can be loyal to something while being completely in support of another thing.
Absolutely agree with this. I still love paramore and their Self-titled album and, towards on all that people say, I still love Josh and Zac. I accepted the fact that their lives are different now and that Zac and Josh still want to make music, even without hayley, Jeremy and Taylor. Personally I really like both the songs (mountains and colorrush) and I think that in the end, the most important thing is that they're both happy now, farro bros and paramore.
