its funny how you called out ludwig for not naming his girlfriend until 5 minutes in when northernlion didnt put his wife on the list at all

I don't think I could name 100 people. 100 women is out of the question.
Yeah, I could probably just about manage to name 100 things
I don't even know 100 words
What is “100”? 🤔
Same. However I could name 100 Pokémon easily, and maybe 100 fire emblem characters? That’s a good amount harder though
@@Muhahahahazhere we go with the philosophers again 😮💨
I thought pointcrow was comically slow but it took me like 50 minutes once I tried it
50 is crazy I just did 15 off a melatonin 😂
I managed to get an okay 17.04 when doing this. It’s harder than it looks, it’s like I completely forgot what women were the moment the timer started. As a woman I feel like I should’ve done better.
I did it 2 minutes slower than you, and i agree, you get weirdly panicked and forget what women are. I kept getting stuck on specific names
Being a woman doesn't necessarily mean you know a lot of popular ones, as another woman I would 100% be slower than even PointCrow if I tried this for myself lmao
the fact that I just straight up failed😭in my defense though I pay no attention to media and only watch content creators in very specific areas
I took almost 34 minutes bahaha..😭😭😭
@@MyOnlyBedBreakersame 💀 I just tried it and got to. 44. before I gave up. in my defense it's 2am

Doug Doug being able to beat a single person would be impressive, if that person wasn't Pointcrow. Those share like 2 braincells at any point in time.
And DougDoug usually has custody.
dude I cant even name 100 People
NL really is a league of his own. He somehow shares a niche with all these other streamers while being a completely different type of personality.
A fellow OFF enjoyer, i see
Me literally cheering when NL showed up with a 6:58. Truly the goat.
I tried this myself and I forgot Hillary Clinton… but I remembered Monica Lewinsky.
So you have something in common with Bill!
When I wrote down Hillary I went "Oh but who did Bill cheat on her with?" didn't end up remembering
Skanky Bill, is that you?
Personally, I doubt I could name 100 women off the top of my head. But I also couldn't name 100 men off the top of my head, so I don't think that's at all meaningful.
EDIT: I bet I could name 100 Pokemon faster than PointCrow though, lol
For most people, while the struggle to do it under pressure is the same, it will be a lot easier to name men than women. What's interesting is in what way the figure cited is known too. What is not really meaningfull is how women fare at this challenge vs men, because we unfortunately all have the same cultural overall experience, which doesn't include women as much still today (not even talking in History).
@@LisaMartin-r1n yeah, I tested myself for both men and women and got 100 men significantly faster. I'm American so all our presidents are men and I can name quite a few, and the most famous historical characters are also men so there were more of those to draw from. Also sports -- I'd say most famous athletes are men. For women I had way more female celebrities than historical figures
@@Stephh99 Yes, and I think if you challenge yourself to do it only with men celebrities, it will be on par with the time for women ones. Like most people could cite an actress as well as an actor. What's interesting is how History is biased, and fields of influence outside of traditionally associated to female hobbies (outside of being good looking, acting, singing, or doing something related to art in a way like decorating / sewing etc). Outside of those, it's either women aren't represented in the field, or they aren't portrayed globally in it (most of the time the second one).
Like it makes sense to not have as many women represented in very men dominated fields like let's say fishing for example. But scientists, political figures, journalism, athletes, is not men dominated as much or at all. Why don't we see any of them on mainstream media ?
I could name all of the Pokémon long before getting close to 100 men or women. If fictional ones are on the table it’s drastically easier though.
@@LisaMartin-r1n
I believe that gaining widespread recognition today is more challenging for non-entertainers. Historically, fields like science, politics, and sports have been male-dominated, not because women weren't portrayed, but because they were largely absent, with a few exceptions.
In STEM, modern innovators, male or female, might invent a revolutionary new lightbulb, but their name will still be less recognized than the original inventor. Much of the foundational scientific discoveries have already been made, so people often care more about historical figures than current ones. Leading to a male bias in recognition of names in those fields.
While more women are in these fields today, gaining mainstream fame for contemporary science is almost impossible for either sex, just think about how many contemporary male scientists figures you know. However, those contemporary figures who are represented tend to be fairly portrayed, with Hillary Clinton being a notable example from this video, she as a close contender for presidency is remembered as much or even more so then her male counterparts who ran but didn't win. So it's not that we don't see women from contemporary science or politics in the mainstream; we simply don't see many modern scientists or political figures, male or female make it to the mainstream.
very interesting
would love for you to watch Tubbo’s one, it was wild😭 my guy was STRUGGLING
I did! And included him in the new video, sorry it took so long!
This was way harder than I expected hahaha. As soon as I started the timer, I forgot the name of every woman -- including woman who have worked on projects I'm very passionate about and talk about, if not weekly, at least monthly haha. It took me 29 minutes and 11 seconds, with my top categories being historical figures by a wide margin, followed by musicians. If I were to try to get a higher time in the future, I think I would have gone for a different category to zero-in on, as your speed does seem to be affected by which things you can latch onto and get a bunch of names from, but I was panicking at the time and couldn't think lol
Common Northern"Speedrun"Lion W, great video man
The French streamer Etoiles did this as well, he named 100 in like 10 minutes with the no streamers rule. A lot of his entries were historical or sports related, it was really cool to see
I think he really is a lot unbiased on his knowledge. Like if he loves a sport, he will know every name in it, men or women alike. He also does this kind of exercise (answering names under time restraint) as a hobby, so unfortunately he is in a league of his own.
Due to popular demand, I added him in the new video!
@@Xenoxygene you’re awesome!
No, you're awesome!
Tbh I don't think I could name 100 people in general, but I could probably recall their faces much faster and easier. If I could actually draw, then I might do well in certain challenges, but past that idk
when I saw this challenge I was hoping someone would put themselves through it to do something like this. thank you for your service
I decided to try this since I am woman. It took me about 20 minutes. For science, I then listed 100 men to compare my speed, and it was about the same amount of time. I have no conclusions other than as soon as I have to think of something it blanks from my head.
It would be really cool to see how it compares to them naming 100 men.
It honestly wouldn't be too different, trying to name 100 people as fast as possible is hard no matter their gender lol
Well, it would be easier if you focused on historical figures, since there's a tendency to mostly teach about historical men, rather than women. You could probably get a few out of the way fast --- my brain has already started listing off some. When i think of women, my brain is looking for present-day examples, even now that i'm aware of that mental bias of mine.
Hmm now i kinda wanna do both challenges and compare my results...
Maybe some other day.
A lot easier for both genders probably. Most famous people are males
it took me 4 minutes longer, top categories were 1. politicians/historical figures 2. musicians 3. actors/directors, while for women it was 1. musicians 2. politicians/historical figures 3. tv/internet personalities (mainly thanks to the kardashian family)
There would be way more from sports
"He named more porn actresses than regular actresses" MY MAN
I mean honestly I am surprised people know so many actresses. I know like 3-5.
@@chrisbotos I'm really curious, who are the 3-5 actresses you know?

Everyone but NL named the person who made the challenge. We truly live in a society.
Thanks for the summary, James.
the real MVP, not having to scrape the bottom of the barrel with youtubers, streamers and pornstars 🤣
Great video, NL is the goat
northern lion casually styling on everybody by having thrice the IQ of the average streamer
Okay, I did this myself before watching the video, and my results were:
53 Historical figures
10 Singers
10 TH-camrs
9 Politicians
8 Writers
3 Activists
3 Businesswomen
2 Actresses
1 Educator
1 Linguist
Great video! NL stays pegged.
I feel like I'd struggle to name 100 people if I wasn't allowed to use screen names. NL made the point that you should just use categories of people, which allowed me to name up to 80 esports players, but at max that adds 2 real names to my total, lol.
It's interesting that the first woman I thought of was Hillary Clinton. I guess because she's been in the public sphere for so long, and with her being the Democratic nominee in 2016, most people developed strong opinions about her one way or the other.
Yeah it’s very interesting who people think of first. Every time I’ve heard about the challenge my mind goes to Scarlet Johansson first.
I literally forgot she existed
Amazing video. Ive always been intrigued by statistics so was fun to come across a video
like this. Esspecially on a topic that was fun to see happen live for the most part.
Bro the rock climbing comment is so real, like the IFSC bouldering comps just finished I would demolish this list
Okay well in defense of will neff’s answer of Mulan, she is a real person Hua Mu Lan (though who knows if that’s who he was thinking of at the time). Most ppl know her as the Disney princess though. So she would fall under historical figure. She just happened to get picked up and changed into a fictional character.
Mulan is not, in fact, a historical figure. She has always been fictional.
Hua Mu Lan was a legendary heroic figure from historical chinese stories, not a real person unfortunately
6:34 Hua Mulan may or may not have actually existed during the Northern Wei dynasty of China.
Good video, and it gave me the motive to try this challenge myself, ending with a 34:17. I already had about 75 halfway through, but the temptation to avoid historical figures made me finish slowly and under pressure. Safe to say that I dominated the historical figures category with probably around 45.
1:50 smh ALL women are valid #misogyny #defeatthepatriarchy
I fumbled...
Bro hasn't even hit 1k subs yet and is already on a good path to get cancelled, we're so proud of you! 😭

I love finding videos like this one. Interesting, well edited, good comedic timing, and made by a small channel. I look forward to more of your videos mate
I tested myself and it was stressful a bit...
Time: 18 mins 20 seconds
Ocuppations:
- 40 singers (mostly kpop idols ngl)
- 19 actresses
- 12 writers
- 7 women in sport
- 6 politicians
- 6 women i put into the public figure category (wives of politicians, kardashians)
- 5 historical figures
- 3 film directors
- 1 film critic (mirka spáčilová my beloved)
- 1 model
Wait you missed Fantano. His list wouldve skewed the results! He did musicians only
This gave off such a vibe of being professional but also hilarious. It's rare to find content like this. Take my subscription, you've earned it. I'm glad this video popped up in my feed.
I don't even know if I can name 100 people. I forget the name of half my relatives most of the time.
This is actually a genuinely great video!

I'm a women and could do it in 11 minutes 32 seconds, but damn that was trickier than I thought it would be
*Edit:* In the spirit of the video, I analyzed my results:

- 23 musicians
- 10 historical figures
- 10 authors
- 5 tv personalities
- 5 models
- 4 youtubers/influencers
- 3 fashion designers
- 2 politicians
- 2 film directors
- 2 public figures

Woahhh this was actually a very entertaining video ; I actually expected to watch a Dougdoug VOD but ended up being quite entranced. Thank you fellow Frenchie. ❤
"I named the most athletes, but that's just because I'm really into rock climbing" is an incredible line
"some of his answers seem invalid. Examples included Mulan, Helen of Troy..."
They're legends. It's possible that they really existed, though obviously Hua Mulan didn't fight against the huns (Mulan was known for fighting against steppe Nomads, and the huns were actually contemporaneous with her claimed lifetime, but in Europe, not anywhere near China), and Helen wasn't descended from Zeus. They still arguably shouldn't count, as we don't know that they existed, it's just possible that they might have.
Now do Eleanor Rigsby
@@DIRTY-MERLIN Created by Paul McCartney in 1966.
Tried it. I am a woman. Took me 44 minutes. Turns out I can remember a lot of famous women, but that I am absolutely DOGSHIT at names. I mean it did take me 4 years to remember everybody's name in my class in high school.
clear, concise, interesting, no waffling on; you did a great job with this
This is such a good video holy crap. I hope these streamers see it
Helena of troy is not a fictional character there is much evidence depicting the 10 year seige during the trojan war im pretty sure she has to exist if the war exists
I love this!!! Thank you so much!
Comment for the algorithm because this was really well made!
I freely admit that I'd completely fail this challenge... for the simple reason that I think I'd struggle to name 100 people under pressure full stop.
Just did it now, it's harder than it sounds. Your brain starts crackling and smoking around minute 5. Took 23 minutes and my most common category was politicians.
And then there's Anthony Fantano who named 100 musicians lol
Rock climbing makes him rock hard

I was hoping someone would do this. Thank you
Halfway through the video I was wondering why everyone is a bit behind average time and then northernlion showed up
Really interesting video!
I tried it myself and my list looks so different. The biggest group is Politicians (a lot of Swiss politicians), followed by Musicians (which is quite surprising, cause I‘m not that musically interested and couldn‘t name a song from most of them, but there names seem to stick in my head), athletes (many of them are playing floorball (a sport popular here, but not in many other places in the world)), historic figures and the rest is made up with writers, royals, actresses and some people I didn‘t know what category would work for them.
And I tried the same thing for men and the list looks also quite different. Mostly containing Historic Figures, followed by Politician and Athletes. Only 3 Musicians (and those are more historic ones), no actors, but a few more artists and scientists. And it sadly took me less time to finish it…
To be fair on pointcrow, pokemon are fictional- I could name 100 fictional anything faster than 100 real anything
I think MBT actually named 100 Yugioh cards with women on them faster than he named 100 real women.
9:33 He's just standing there, menacingly.
i took the challenge about a week ago and man i would've been an outlier. my first 3 names were Ada Lovelace, Rosalind Franklin, and Janelle Pierzina (the Big Brother contestant)
Rosalind Franklin, that’s a good one. I named Ada Lovelace :D
I did pretty poorly when I tried for myself, 36 minutes, at least I’m faster than three streamers.
Fantano named 100 women in music, very impressive.
Although he didn’t mention some of the most obvious
When I clicked on this video, before watching I did the challenge myself! The result was 16 minutes and 32 seconds, and I smashed the musician section with only 15 not being musicians! 3 of the musicians were the members of Babymetal, one was a c-pop idol and the rest were all k-pop idols, which makes sense because their stagenames are usually short and easy to remember.
Would be interesting if there was a big google form survey polling like 10000 people on 100 women each and seeing how that works out
1:46 chat said Hellen Keller 😂
the key here is to start listing all the first ladies you can think of or the wives of henry vii- that's a bunch right there and makes you look smart
I'm so glad that you mentioned naming climbers at the end because I had like 10 female climbers on my list
Interesting, well made video. I hope more people watch it
As a woman, i can barely do it either
That tells more about our culture as a whole not including women, than on you not actually knowing them :)
Giving you a like for the Ahri chair. I am sure the rest of the video will be worth it
I can’t even name 50 people in general
