One thing that struck me about North Korea was animals. The next time you watch any video from North Korea, look at the background. Any dogs running around in the distance? Any stray chickens running around? Any sound of roosters in the morning? Any cows grazing in the fields visible from a train? None. Amazing.
@@HalseyOG Yeah, and the simple question "why?" raises all kinds of interesting speculations as to what the answer might be. I'd hazard a guess - that when food objects have become weaponized to the degree they have in North Korea, that absence represents an iron-fisted control. Food is a godawful terrible thing to control people with. Because starvation strips humanity right off a human being like living flesh from a skeleton. I can't hardly imagine what that carves into the souls of survivors.
I once watched a 30-minute hidden-camera bike tour across Pyongyang. It's deeply fascinating. Nobody is...doing anything. Everybody acts like an NPC in Grand Theft Auto. They're all either standing in line or walking. Nothing else. Some people briefly cast a nervous glance at the cyclist. And that's it. The other unsettling thing is how there's all these buildings, but no signs or businesses. But they're clearly not used for housing, either. So what are they?
Your perspective really clears the air. You speak with an emotional spirit, but a logical mind. Your perspective on the U.S. Government stood out to me the most. I feel like the U.S. started to progress a lot more socially. There are divisions in our society that affect my perspective on the socio-political issues in itself. However, I understand that there are many countries that suffer under tyranny. Hearing about your surprise in America, helped me feel better about how much of a relief we can be for the suffering. One thing that everyone can relate to is pain. We somehow forgot how to empathize, especially before social media became popular. The use of our platform, big or small, can be used to promote positive reinforcement to our negative situations. I feel like the best thing for us to do, is bridge the gap between the divide we see everywhere. Sometimes, we need to see where we could go, what we can do, what we can think. How can we change our perspective to see the bigger picture of the problems we face? What do we need to experience to bring that change? Freedom is one thing, evolving after freedom might be one of the greatest things humanity will ever experience.
