I realized they did NOT have to go this far with a freaking logo intro. A full on animated environment, and character with a voice actor. But they did and it’s branded into our childhoods.
What's really sad that he didn't show up on the last episode. And at that point we never get to see him ever again. Paul will be remembered to be the greatest outro character on Nickelodeon

My younger sister once saw the "Hi, we're Paul" one without me, and I'd only ever seen the normal one. She was around five at the time, so I thought that she'd made it up. I didn't think she was lying; I just thought she'd dreamt it or something and convinced herself it was real. Looks like I was wrong all these years later.
Specifically a Nick at Night show where the first season is Paul showing us the island and all his friends. The Second Season is all about Paul starting a late-night talk show with former Nick stars like CatDog, Doug, Jenny, Angry Beevers, Zim, Danny, etc. The entire 90s to 2010s line up. Even get some Nicktoons guests like Kappa Mikey. The third season is nothing more than a Promo for a Paul-centric video game where you play as Paul, running around his island saving all the animals and plants during a serious storm. The entire season just builds up to the massive storm threatening his Island, and it ends with Paul looking at the screen and saying “Hi, I’m Paul, can you help me?” and all we hear is a voice saying “Hi Paul, yes we can!” and all you see is just a Yellow Helmet being picked up, followed by a hammer with a face jumping into a toolbox, and a purple backpack with a tan vest on it. Then we get the Video game and it turns out Bob the Builder, Manny the Repairman, Dora the Explorer, and Diego Marquez were the ones Paul asked for help in saving his Island. The entire video game is about the four of them helping Paul find and rescue his friends. Bob helps build storm protection stuff while Manny goes around repairing old and forgotten structures, upgrading them so they can help protect Paul’s Friends, Dora goes around scouting the island helping Paul find animals and other important things, while Diego takes to rescuing the animals that Paul and Dora find. The game ends with the Island surviving the storm, Paul’s friends are safe and sound, and the setup for season 4. Season 4 is all about Paul spending his last days with his friends on the island, a sorta call back to season 1, while also meeting up with former Nick Stars, all ending with the last Epsidoe - Paul’s Birthday.

It was more that he was out of a job- it was aired on the series finale of JN, and DNA was going through a rather messy dissolution , the result of the underperormance of "The Ant Bully" (their only other work besides the Neutron series) and a lawsuit from O Entertainment over rights to the franchise, one that O would ultimately win.
