    After having a throat culture done, I tested positive for Staphylococcus Albus in my throat/ mouth area. I got 3 shots of Ceftriaxone (1g/ one daily) with no positive results. I also took Afumix (2 boxes, one per week). Then, I was prescribed norfloxacin (400mg/ 10 days), & oral symptoms remained.
    A second throat culture was done & I tested positive for Streptococcus B Hemolytic. I was prescribed Augmentin 875mg, twice daily for 10 days, & my condition didn’t improve. My throat feels dry & this could be affecting other organs. I’m currently taking vitamins & probiotics, & I’m going to go see my Doctor to try a different antibiotic. I hope this illness doesn’t kill me!
    If you recommend a specific antibiotic for my condition, I will pass it along. Five Doctors haven’t been able to help me. Thanks Doctor.

      You must have very bad tonsillitis.
      I can't recommend any antibiotics as it depends on the sensitivities found by the laboratory.
      What may be helpful is using a good quality mouthwash 3 times a day, read the instructions. This may help clear the infection and help sooth the throat.

    Hello Dr. Thank you for posting this video. All my urine test cultures keep coming back positive for strep b for the past year. Ive tried all antibiotics except for penicillin as im allergic and nothing seems to work. Are there any supplements you recommend to take in order to clear it? 🤔

      @DrBretPalmer  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Do you have symptoms?
      If not then don't take antibiotics as may clear it.
      If you have symptoms the doctor should send urine off for antibiotic sensitivities.
      Either way, drink lots of fluids, no coffee, pee often - don't hold it.
      No coffee, no alcohol.
      Eat lots of fruit and veg.
      Loose clothing.
      No skin tight clothing.
      Very loose or no bed clothes.
      I hope this helps

      @@DrBretPalmer I have had sensitivity cultures done and I've taken all the antibiotics recommended and I'm still positive. My main concern is passing it to someone else....is that possible? I've read conflicting information about how it's contracted. Thank you so much for your help I appreciate it.

      @lysasorrow1159 it's a difficult one as can be picked up very easily and easily be found on the body.
      I'd advise dermol 200 or 500 body wash as well to help on the outside of the vagina.

      Probiotics can also help out breed these bacteria as well. Your partner may also be giving it back to you. Do you have oral sex?

    I dont know if you would see this but, i have been treating strep infection (according to the culture test and swab result) i had hemolytic strep discovered in my urine. After taking antibiotics for few days the pain and swelling stopped. Ive been taking continuous treatment for 5 months But i still feel some slight burn after ejaculation and the urethal mucus doesnt seem normal too. Is there a particular reason for this?

    • @DrBretPalmer

      Sounds as though there could be continued irritation.
      Try to increase your fluid intake and cut down on coffee and alcohol, if you smoke, stop.
      Drink water, tea, green tea is good to clean everything as well.
      Let me know if any of the above makes a difference.
      Sorry for late reply.

    Hello doctor I see you responding to commenters & I thought I may give it a shot in hope for a response. I’m young I’m now in my mid 20s. Ever since I was a child as long as I can remember I had the urge to frequently urinate. I also had an accident at school infront my class when I was a child in grade 3 or so. My parents bought me to the doctor but they didn’t see anything wrong . I got older visited the the docs again same thing. The symptoms of frequent urinating especially in small amounts would come and go. However once I hit college, & was going through a stressful point in my life. The symptoms of frequent urination especially in small quantity weren’t avoidable. I’m now in my mid 20s I visited a gynecologist. I tested for strep b in my bladder. Is it a possibility I have strep b disease ? If so is it a chronic illness because it seem quite chronic I’ve been dealing with it my entire life. And it comes and goes some months are better than the others but when I get it it feels like I have it for ever ! I’m constantly getting it and constant showing symptoms of frequent urination. Plz help me.

      Hi there Shanel,
      I hope you are well. Firstly, it's not a problem if a 3 year old wets themselves, I have a son and he had an accident every now and then.
      If you have a urine symptoms then do a urine dip. If this is negative then you don't have an infection.
      If concerned about a skin infection then use an antibacterial emollient e.g. Dermol 200. Not sure if ice answered your question or not.

    What are safe antibiotics if I am trying to conceive ?

      Depends on the infection. But provided no allergies, Azithromycin is a common one.

      Forget about it then. First rule in medicine, treat the patient not the tests.
      If you are fit and well why did you do a Strep B test?

    Hi, after havung sexual intercourse i noticed vaginal irritation and increased need to pee. I thought it was a UTI, so I sought treatment and it came back positive for strep B. If its not a sexually transmitted disease, and i was already carrying it, is it common for sexual activity to activate symptoms? I just want to make sure this isnt something i need to tell my partner about- like can he get strep throat from oral sex if im infected? Is there anything i can do in the future to keep it from reoccurring? 0:11

    • @DrBretPalmer
      @DrBretPalmer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there. If your partner does oral sex on you, he may have given it to you.
      Sex can activate symptoms due to friction and rubbing of the urethra. Many antibiotics for UTI can treat strep. Otherwise a 1 week course of doxycycline can also treat in.... if bacteria is susceptible to the antibiotic.
      Not to be taken too seriously unless pregnant then treatment may be advised (but not with Doxycycline, then use azithromycin).
      I hope this helps

      Why do doctors say to not take group b strep infection seriously when it causes a terrible antibiotic resistant uti ?

    • @DrBretPalmer
      @DrBretPalmer  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aimeefinch3110 great question.
      Most of these infections are naturally cleared from the system.
      However, if someone is having symptoms then the patient should be treated.

    Hello Dr, i did a urine test Thursday, today is Saturday, and the test came back abnormal. It said 10 000 to 50 000 colonies/ml group b streptococci...never heard of this. Before i left the clinic he prescribed me Flagyl just incase it was BV..im scared to take antibiotics by the way. So i haven't taken it yet..Also 5 months ago I had CDiff and im type 2 diabetic not sexually active currently. .my question is can flagyl treat group b. Also is there a cream i can take for this issue.

    • @DrBretPalmer
      @DrBretPalmer  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Depends on the sensitivity of the bacteria, if measured, your doctor would take this into consideration.
      Tablets are what I'd advise, creams wouldn't be the best for strep B, can also use an antibacterial emollient as well. Then use probiotics to replace the good bacteria you have lost. Video done on this. I hope this helps.

    Hi doctor.
    So 2 months ago i started having itchy and burning vulva.. then nasty discharge started to happen... wattery and yellow like infection... or green-ish and thick.. Went to the doctor and took all possible tests, turned out it is strep B. I am now on my 2nd round of antibiotics. The discharge is not as bad as it was in the beginning, but i still have about 20% of what i had. Also, from time to time... my vaginal opening feels like burning for a couple of second then it will go away.
    I have a doc appointment in 2 weeks to check if i got rid of it but i am afraid it won't go away...
    My questions are
    1. Is it possible that strep B gave me all those symptoms? (my doc initially thought it was an ITS)
    2. Is it possible i got it from my bf or from a toilet or a not very well washed towel i used at the hotel during a trip?
    3.Is it possible to get rid of it or at least stop all the symptoms it is giving me?

    • @DrBretPalmer
      @DrBretPalmer  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi there,
      Thank you for your question.
      Strep B, is usually treated successfully with a course of antibiotics. If the discharge is smelly, like fish, then would be BV, if thick and lumpy and causing itchiness then could be thrush.
      If you live in the UK, then you must go to a sexual health clinic as they can look directly under a microscope and probably give you a diagnosis.
      Either way after a course of antibiotics then please use a course of probiotics. There are videos on these topics to help you out.
      I hope this is helpful.
      Kind regards
